C13 Cheng Yunfei's Waist Was Twisted

Zhao Juann picked up her phone and dialed Liu Yunhua's number with a sense of urgency. The sight of this number used to send shivers down her spine, but now she was eager for Liu Yunhua to pick up so she could get to the bottom of things.

"Hello, Ms. Zhao," came Liu Yunhua's exceedingly polite voice as the call connected.

Zhao Juann paused, taken aback and somewhat pleasantly surprised. What had gotten into Liu Yunhua? Why was he suddenly treating her with such courtesy?

Unbeknownst to Zhao Juann, the change in Liu Yunhua's demeanor was all thanks to Lin Sheng. As Lin Sheng's mother-in-law, how could Liu Yunhua afford not to treat her with respect?

"President Liu, hello. I was wondering... has my loan been fully repaid?" Zhao Juann stumbled over her words, a stark contrast to her previous confidence when dealing with Lin Sheng.

"Yes, your loan has been settled in full by your son-in-law, Mr. Lin. We're square now," Liu Yunhua confirmed.

After the call ended, the three people in the room stared at Lin Sheng as if he were an enigma. Was this the same man they had once dismissed as a pushover? How had he managed to repay those two million? And President Liu, a well-known figure in Huacheng, was acting almost subservient to Lin Sheng?

Despite their disbelief, the undeniable truth was right before their eyes.

Cheng Yunfei grabbed Lin Sheng, her heart racing and her cheeks flushed with excitement. "Lin Sheng, how did you pull this off?"

In that moment, Lin Sheng seemed shrouded in mystery to Cheng Yunfei. She thought of the stunning housekeeper who had appeared out of nowhere. Could Lin Sheng actually be the scion of a wealthy family?

But she quickly dismissed the thought. If Lin Sheng were truly that affluent, why would he have tolerated such poor treatment at her family's hands?

A tender smile played across Lin Sheng's lips. "It's a long story, one I'll share with you later."

Taking Cheng Yunfei's hand in his, Lin Sheng reassured her, "Yunfei, from now on, I won't let you face any hardship. With me by your side, we can overcome any challenge that comes our way."

Cheng Yunfei was momentarily paralyzed, overwhelmed by an immense sense of security.

She had faced constant marginalization from the Cheng family. Over the years, she had built Cheng's Beauty Pavilion from the ground up. To the outside world, she always shone brightly, but the bitterness of her struggles was a burden she bore alone.

Zhao Juann was still basking in overwhelming joy, while Lee Dong looked on, his mouth twitching in disbelief.

Wasn't Lin Sheng supposed to be the proverbial failure?

Something seemed off.

He had intended to leverage the contract to coerce the Cheng family and secure Cheng Yunfei for himself tonight, but his plan was unraveling.

His face felt aflame. He had boasted that if Lin Sheng managed to secure the contract, he'd write his name backwards, accusing Lin Sheng of merely putting on a show.

Now, confronted with the stark reality, it felt as though he had been slapped publicly, a massive loss of face, particularly in front of Cheng Yunfei, whom he deeply cared about.

"Uh... Yunfei, Auntie Zhao, I must be going. I'll pay a visit some other time," he mumbled.

With that, Lee Dong turned and made his exit, his departure marked by a clumsy stumble against the door.

Once Lee Dong had left, only the three of them remained.

Zhao Juann, still elated, regained her composure. She looked at Lin Sheng with less disdain but maintained her pride as she asked, "Lin Sheng, you've done quite well this time. How did you manage it?"

Lin Sheng pondered for a moment before responding, "It was nothing special. President Liu was kind enough to assist."

Revealing his true identity might be too much for Cheng Yunfei to accept.

His only desire was to keep Cheng Yunfei happy; the Cheng family's opinion of him was of little consequence.

"Liu Yunhua helped?" Zhao Juann's brow furrowed as she nodded, deep in thought.

It didn't take her long to connect the dots, casting a discreet glance at Cheng Yunfei.

Clearly, Liu Yunhua had taken an interest in her daughter and offered his help willingly!

He had once hinted at Yunfei's beauty, suggesting that if she handled the negotiations, they could postpone the repayment. Zhao Juann had dismissed the idea at the time.

She was a mother, after all. How could she possibly push Cheng Yunfei into harm's way?

"I'm full. Go ahead and eat."

Having realized the crux of the matter, Zhao Juann's demeanor toward Lin Sheng turned cold once again. She commanded, "After dinner, clean up the kitchen. There's a turtle in the fridge; stew it tonight. I'll take it to Yunfei's dad tomorrow."

With that, Zhao Juann retreated to her room.

Lin Sheng and Cheng Yunfei were the only two left in the hall, and the air between them had subtly shifted.

"Why would President Liu help our family when he's doing well?" Cheng Yunfei inquired.

Lin Sheng pondered for a moment before replying, "Last time, he was being chased by some bad people, and I saved him."

"Hmph! If you don't want to talk about it, then drop it!" Cheng Yunfei gave Lin Sheng a skeptical look. She didn't buy his story.

Lin Sheng chose not to elaborate, and she didn't press further, but Lin Sheng's enigmatic aura in her eyes only grew.

As night approached after dinner, Lin Sheng finished stewing the turtle soup and began tidying up the kitchen, while Cheng Yunfei headed to the bathroom for a shower.

"Aiya!"

Suddenly, a cry from the bathroom pierced the silence.

Despite the distance from the kitchen, Lin Sheng's acute hearing picked up the sound clearly. As a Grandmaster of Martial Arts, his abilities were unparalleled, with fewer than ten in all of Huacheng matching his prowess.

Driven by urgency, Lin Sheng's swift movements carried him to the bathroom door in a blink.

"Yunfei! Are you alright, Yunfei?"

Through the door, he could barely make out Cheng Yunfei's graceful silhouette bracing against the wall.

"It hurts so much..."

Her pained cries echoed out.

In a rush of concern, Lin Sheng forced the bathroom door open. A cloud of steam infused with a delicate scent enveloped him.

There, amidst the mist, was the sight of Cheng Yunfei's alabaster skin, breathtakingly alluring.

But Lin Sheng's gaze didn't linger; Cheng Yunfei's well-being was his utmost priority.

He quickly went to Cheng Yunfei's side and asked with concern, "Yunfei, are you okay?"

"I've twisted my waist. Lin Sheng, how did you get in here? Leave, now!"

Cheng Yunfei hadn't expected Lin Sheng to enter. She swiftly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself.

Lin Sheng scooped Cheng Yunfei into his arms and headed for the bedroom.

"Lin Sheng, what are you doing? Put me down this instant!" Cheng Yunfei was clueless about Lin Sheng's intentions and was in a state of panic, resembling a frightened white rabbit.

Even though they were married, she and Lin Sheng had always slept separately and had not consummated their marriage.

Surely Lin Sheng wouldn't take advantage of her vulnerability, would he?

"Yunfei, I can heal you. Stay still; moving will only make it hurt more," Lin Sheng assured her.

"You know how to practice medicine?" Cheng Yunfei, still in disbelief, clung to Lin Sheng's neck.

As far as she knew, Lin Sheng's only skill was cooking; she wasn't aware of any other talents he possessed.

"It's true. You'll see in a moment."

Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes observation and inquiry, and Lin Sheng had already deduced that Cheng Yunfei's accident was due to recent overexertion and stress.

All he needed to do was channel the Genuine Qi within him and apply TCM massage techniques, and she would be fine.
