C6 The Bank Card Was Fake
Liu Yunhua was livid!
Ma Guosheng, a protégé he had personally groomed and who had always shown him the utmost respect, had the audacity to defy him? Liu had made it abundantly clear that he wasn't going to come, yet Ma Guosheng insisted on summoning him?
"Ma Guosheng! Have you lost your damn mind? Do you want to quit?!"
Liu Yunhua raged, "If you're done, then get the hell out! There's no shortage of people eyeing your job!"
At that moment, Liu Yunhua was cradling a ravishing young woman in his arms. If not for Ma Guosheng, who typically wouldn't bother him unless it was urgent, he wouldn't have even considered picking up the phone.
Ma Guosheng's rambling had already tested Liu Yunhua's patience.
"President Liu, please hear me out!"
Under immense pressure, Ma Guosheng steeled himself and said, "Mr. Lin Sheng has an International Silver Union's Supreme Signature Card! He specifically asked for you by name!"
"What Supreme Signature Card..."
Liu Yunhua muttered, on the verge of ending the call.
Suddenly, he sprang to his feet, electrified.
"What... What did you say?"
"The International Silver Union's Supreme Signature Card?"
Shock was written all over Liu Yunhua's face; his lips quivered, and he struggled to articulate his thoughts.
"Ma Guosheng, you better be sure of what you're saying. If you're spouting nonsense and trying to frighten me, I swear I'll flay you!"
Liu Yunhua couldn't fathom that the mythical Supreme Card could possibly surface in Huacheng!
Could Lin Sheng truly be the Cheng family's good-for-nothing son-in-law?
Yet, if Huacheng was home to such a tycoon, he shouldn't be an unknown. Why hadn't he heard of him before?
"President Liu, it's too much to explain over the phone. Please, come quickly!"
Ma Guosheng pleaded, "Mr. Lin is waiting. Our staff has already upset him. It took all my apologies and smiles to mollify him. If you're late, I fear he'll be irate again!"
"Fine! I'm on my way!"
"Make sure he's well taken care of!"
With a glint in his eye, Liu Yunhua ended the call.
The arrival of such a formidable figure in Huacheng might sound intimidating, but it presented a tremendous opportunity for him. If he managed to please this billionaire and gain his favor, he might just find himself climbing the ranks once more.
"Mr. Lin, please enjoy your tea."
A strikingly beautiful staff member, smartly dressed in her uniform, presented a cup of exquisite Bi Luo Chun tea. Ma Guosheng hurriedly took it and personally handed it to Lin Sheng.
"President Liu is on his way and will be here shortly. Please bear with us for a moment."
He was well aware of Lin Sheng's worth. At this point, he would be delighted to serve tea or even pick it if asked.
The beautiful staff member stood by respectfully, attentively awaiting further instructions.
Manager Ma was no saint; only someone extraordinary could make him this anxious.
Yet, the beauty was taken aback. Lin Sheng appeared so ordinary in his attire that he seemed just like any other person.
"Mm," Lin Sheng murmured, accepting the tea and sipping it leisurely.
He was oblivious to the thoughts of Ma Guosheng and the female staff member, and he preferred it that way. His primary concern was to address the loan issues of the Cheng family's beauty salon and uncover how Cheng Jin had ensnared Zhao Juann and her wife, Cheng Yunfei, in a web of debt. As Yunfei's husband, he was determined to settle the score.
Soon after, Lin Sheng heard the brisk footsteps of someone approaching. A well-dressed middle-aged man in his forties entered the VIP room.
"President Liu," greeted Manager Ma, his demeanor instantly respectful.
This was Liu Yunhua.
Upon entering, Liu Yunhua's gaze lingered on Lin Sheng.
"President Liu, this is Mr. Lin, the holder of the International Union's signature card," Manager Ma said cautiously.
Liu Yunhua's brow furrowed. He was familiar with the Cheng family and certainly knew Lin Sheng, the family's so-called good-for-nothing son-in-law.
Was this the same Lin Sheng from the Cheng family who now possessed the prestigious card of the International Union?
Could it be that he was a billionaire? And if so, why had he tolerated such indignities from the Cheng family for so long?
"Humph! Ma Guosheng, are you blind? Can't you distinguish between a real and a fake Supreme Card?" Liu Yunhua sneered at Ma Guosheng, his words laced with anger.
Liu Yunhua was well aware of the Cheng family's troubles. Cheng Yunfei's father was not only seriously ill and hospitalized, but they also owed the bank a hefty three million loan.
It seemed to Liu Yunhua that Lin Sheng was at his wit's end, resorting to creating a counterfeit supreme signature card in a desperate attempt to swindle him.
Ma Guosheng's face tensed, and he was at a loss for words.
Why couldn't President Liu trust him?
Yet, Ma Guosheng had to admit that he himself would have been skeptical of Lin Sheng's supreme signature card if he hadn't witnessed it firsthand.
After berating Ma Guosheng, Liu Yunhua turned his scornful gaze to Lin Sheng, barking, "Lin Sheng, get out of here now, or I'm calling the police. You're committing extortion, and you'll end up behind bars!"
Liu Yunhua was convinced that Lin Sheng's bank card was a fake.
Lin Sheng calmly set down his teacup and gave Liu Yunhua a measured look.
"President Liu, you haven't even examined it. How can you be so certain my card is a fake?" Lin Sheng challenged.
"Pfft! You, a worthless son-in-law? You're not even worth a hundred thousand, let alone a billion!" Ma Yunhua scoffed. "Coming here to strut around like a big shot, you've definitely come to the wrong place!"
"Get out now, or I'll have security break your legs!"
Ma Yunhua's threats came with a menacing wave of his fists, a stark contrast to his position as a bank president. His rage was palpable; this interruption had likely spoiled his plans for a rendezvous with his mistress.
Lin Sheng inhaled deeply, maintaining his composure. He knew all too well that Liu Yunhua must have meddled in the matter of his family's three million loan. But since he needed Liu Yunhua's cooperation, he was forced to patiently explain himself.
"President Liu, I understand your skepticism. Why don't you take the card and verify its authenticity?" Lin Sheng suggested, presenting the Supreme Card once more.
Liu Yunhua was taken aback by Lin Sheng's unabashed confidence.
He concluded that Lin Sheng must be delusional, a result of the Cheng family's oppression. Surely, he had lost his mind. How else could he lie so effortlessly, without a hint of embarrassment, as if he were speaking the truth?
