C1 Immortal Venerable Has Returned

Wudruebar!

Luton City!

At a drug rehab center on the outskirts, a young man around eighteen was frantically pulling at his hair.

"Give it to me! Give it to me now!" he growled, desperation in his voice as he stared at the man and woman before him.

The woman's lovely face had gone pale, her once bright eyes now filled with profound disappointment.

"Yichen, let it go! He's not worth your tears," said the man who had been smirking behind Lin Yichen. He stepped forward, looking down with contempt at the trembling youth.

Outside, the sky lit up with lightning, heralding the approach of another storm.

*Crack!*

A lightning bolt streaked across the sky!

Suddenly, the once dimly lit rehab center was flooded with light, blinding those inside.

Unseen by all, the lightning had struck the young man, vanishing into him without a trace!

In that moment, the shivering youth shuddered.

Five hundred years ago!

I have been reborn!

Staring out the window, his heart was a tumultuous sea.

Five hundred years earlier, he had been cast down from a thirty-story building. Against all odds, he was rescued by the Supreme Immortal Sovereign Hao Yang from the Heaven Realm Continent. Hao Yang then took him away from Earth, back to the Heaven Realm. Five hundred years on, he rose to become the mightiest on the Heaven Realm Continent, earning the title of Supreme Immortal Sovereign.

Yet even an invincible being like him was betrayed by his dear disciple, Hong Yao, and his close friend, Supreme Immortal Sovereign Zi Yuan.

His immortal body was destroyed, and he nearly perished in both body and spirit!

Thankfully, the Nine Circles Battle Spell he practiced shielded his soul in those final moments, granting him rebirth five centuries later.

Xing Mo could never erase the memory of Hong Yao and Zi Yuan's triumphant laughter as they betrayed him—it was etched into his very bones.

But this time, reborn, he was determined to exact vengeance upon Hong Yao and Zi Yuan.

This life would not echo the mistakes of his past.

This time, he would safeguard those dear to him, leaving no room for regrets.

"Immortal Ziyuan, Hong Yao! Mark my words, the day will come when I return to the Heavenly Continent to reclaim what's rightfully mine."

Xing Mo's gaze pierced the dark expanse of the night sky, his expression turning steely.

He lifted his gaze to the young woman before him, rubbing her eyes—the very same Lin Yichen of the Lin family with whom he was betrothed.

After five centuries, he had not expected to lay eyes on Lin Yichen once more.

The woman whose life he had inadvertently destroyed.

Memories of their past life flooded his vision. He had left her so disheartened that she sought refuge in Mount Emei, resigning to a life as a nun.

Ultimately, it was he who had marred Lin Yichen's existence.

Had it not been for Grandpa Zhang's benevolence toward the Lin family, they would never have allowed someone as impoverished as him to marry into their ranks and become a son-in-law.

"Lin Shitian! You agreed to our marriage only to save face. Yet, upon my arrival, how did the Lin family receive me? As nothing more than a dog!"

"Despondent and drowning in drink, I was eventually cast aside by you, Lin Shitian, the engagement broken, and I was discarded from the Lin household like a lifeless hound. The ordeal caused Grandpa Zhang's health to spiral, his hidden ailments erupting. He spent his final days paralyzed, a solitary figure on his deathbed."

"Now that I, Xing Mo, have been given a second chance at life, I refuse to be trampled upon ever again!"

With every recollection of his former life, a glint of icy resolve shone in Xing Mo's eyes.

He looked up at the woman before him, her face etched with disappointment, and managed a wry smile.

Despite their engagement, Xing Mo was well aware that Lin Yichen had never truly respected him.

Yet, she was the sole member of the Lin family who had never scorned him, her inherent kindness shining through.

Despite being cast aside, Lin Yichen chose not to remarry, instead dedicating her life to the path of a nun, in the company of the eternal flame of the ancient Buddha.

"Yichen, I am grateful to you."

"You? What do you mean?" Lin Yichen's voice betrayed her surprise.

Since his arrival at the Lin family, Xing Mo had lived in a haze, the engagement between them rendering them no closer than strangers.

He had assumed that such a muddleheaded waste would be devoid of any real emotion.

Self-centered and egocentric, his world revolved solely around himself!

Yet, unexpectedly, today he had actually offered a word of thanks!

Perhaps he was angling for her to expedite his release from the rehab facility.

Little did Lin Yichen realize that Xing Mo's expression of gratitude was heartfelt and sincere.

Ultimately, it's about having that one person who refuses to let go when you're at your lowest.

For Xing Mo, that was more than enough.

"You really need to kick this drug habit, or else I dread to think what might happen down the line," Lin Yichen said with a soft sigh, her intuition giving her insight into Lin Shitian's thoughts.

Xing Mo felt a pang of bitterness. He was all too aware of the potential consequences that lay ahead.

In a moment, Lin Yichen and the dashing man beside her turned and walked away.

Xing Mo watched the man's retreating figure, a frown creasing his brow.

Upon returning to the Lin residence, Xing Mo headed straight for the bathroom. Surrounded by the trappings of the Lin household, he was overwhelmed with emotion.

The Lin family, a modest third-tier clan in Luton, dealt in the jewelry trade. After graduating from college, Lin Yichen took the helm as president of the Lin Group's jewelry design firm.

Moreover, with her height of 1.68 meters, Lin Yichen's figure was slender and elegant, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her beauty rivaling that of A-list celebrities.

Such was Lin Yichen, the object of desire for the scions of Luton's prominent families.

But to everyone's surprise, the Lin family had chosen a pauper!

This choice had the elite young men of Luton practically choking with indignation.

At that moment, in the Lin family's villa, with Lin Shitian and the others yet to return, the man who had been by Yichen's side all along finally spoke up.

"Yichen! Do you truly intend to spend your life with this lowlife? He's been squandering his days at school, and now he's ended up in rehab after being reported. Can you really resign yourself to a life with such a person?"

"Qin Tianci! Mind your words. No matter what, he is my betrothed," she retorted, visibly upset by the man's harsh words toward Xing Mo.

"Thanks for your help today, but this is just my lot in life. If this is my destiny, I, Lin Yichen, will accept it," Lin Yichen murmured, sighing softly as she gazed at the closed bathroom door.

Inside, Xing Mo stood under the icy cascade, letting the cold water wash over him.

Qin Tianci, the heir of a minor family in Luton, had long pursued Lin Yichen. Yet, to his dismay, she had become engaged to someone he deemed worthless—Xing Mo. Consumed by resentment, Qin Tianci had covertly arranged for a cousin to lure Xing Mo into drug addiction during their university days. He was convinced that Lin Shitian would never allow such a disgrace to remain in the Lin family.

The marriage contract was merely a piece of paper, and once annulled, it would pave the way for Qin Tianci to win Lin Yichen's heart. Xing Mo, aware of Qin Tianci's malicious intentions, couldn't help but let out a cold laugh in the solitude of the bathroom.

"Yichen, you might not want to hear this, but I have your best interests at heart! What future could you possibly have with this loser? He'll only turn into Luton's laughingstock!" Qin Tianci couldn't hide his bitterness.

Impatience creased Lin Yichen's brow as she retorted, "Qin Tianci, I've had enough. Shut your mouth."

His body tensed, and a flicker of spite crossed Qin Tianci's eyes. "Yichen, I'm only thinking of you! You know my intentions. Break off this farce of an engagement and let's unite our families. Together, the Lin and Qin families can rise to prominence in Luton. It'll all be ours!"

"I'm exhausted. Please, just leave," Lin Yichen said, her patience worn thin. She turned and ascended the stairs.

By now, Xing Mo had dressed and emerged from the bathroom. Qin Tianci, rebuffed by Lin Yichen, glared at him, his anger simmering.

"You're nothing but trash, and you still have the audacity to linger in the Lin household?" Qin Tianci spat out, unable to contain his contempt.

Xing Mo's face tightened. "Mind your language," he warned.

"Ha! A piece of trash like you has the nerve to be offended? Take a good look at yourself. How could you ever be worthy of Yichen? If you had any sense, you'd dissolve the engagement yourself. Don't cling to her like a mangy dog!" Qin Tianci's fury found its target in Xing Mo.

Yichen had ascended to the second floor, leaving no one in the Lin household but the servants. Thus, Qin Tianci dropped his pretense.

"Yichen is engaged to me, so she'll be mine from this day forward. I'll ensure she becomes the happiest woman alive," Xing Mo stated calmly, gazing at the firmly closed door upstairs.

With five centuries of cultivation behind him, Xing Mo had encountered countless people and weathered endless trials.

The one who stands by you in adversity is the one truly worth holding dear.

Any other woman might have long since cast him aside.

Yet, Lin Yichen had never abandoned him, not even in his past life.

Even after Lin Shitian banished him from the Lin family, Lin Yichen remained unwed, proclaiming herself as Xing Mo's betrothed in Xuan City.

This filled Xing Mo with a sense of guilt toward Lin Yichen.

He had, after all, failed her in a past life.

Qin Tianci echoed Xing Mo's sentiment with a mocking laugh.

"I've never seen you so full of spirit. Quite the boastful claims. Take a good look at yourself; what makes you think you can bring Yichen happiness? I'll have you know, Yichen will eventually be mine."

"Do you really think you're worthy of understanding my means?" Xing Mo's gaze turned icy. In his previous existence, he was the Supreme Immortal Sovereign, the peak being of the Empyrean Continent. With a mere flick of his finger, the most elite families and noble houses would kneel before him.

But for Lin Yichen's sake, Xing Mo refrained from acting.

Otherwise, Qin Tianci would have met a fate worse than death.

"Hmph! We shall see," Qin Tianci spat, shaking with rage as he stormed out of the villa.

Turning around, Xing Mo was surprised to see Lin Yichen descending from her room.

She had, of course, overheard Qin Tianci's remarks.

In the past, Xing Mo would have hung his head in silence when faced with such accusations, as if admitting guilt.

But his words just moments ago had taken her aback.

To make Yichen the happiest woman in the world!

Though the statement was somewhat boastful and far-fetched!

Yichen's heart still skipped a beat without reason!

She had only been in the Detox Center for a couple of days, yet she noticed something different about Xing Mo!

His once dull and unfocused eyes had taken on a new resolve.

But as they say, it's easier to move mountains and rivers than to alter one's nature!

Lin Yichen was skeptical that someone could change so swiftly!

Now, all of Luton City was aware of her engagement to Xing Mo, turning them into the butt of jokes.

Hence, Lin Yichen harbored a sliver of bitterness towards Xing Mo!

Had it not been for Zhang Tianfeng showing up with a blood-written letter from the Lin family, she might have had the chance to choose a different path in life.

Lost in thought, Lin Yichen suddenly misstepped.

"Ah!"

Her elegant form tumbled down from the staircase on the second floor.
