C7 Super Rich System
Kung Tianhua collapsed suddenly, without any forewarning. The bystanders witnessed the scene but remained unresponsive, their gazes hollow, as though they had turned to stone.
Only Yang Yu and his mother, Lyu Huan, seemed unaffected and could move freely.
"Yu, what's going on?" Lyu Huan asked in a panic.
"I have no idea!" Yang Yu feigned confusion while seizing the opportunity to rip up the loan agreement Kung Tianhua had been holding.
"Congratulations, host, for completing the System Devastator mission. You've destroyed the B-grade Super Rich System, earning 10,000 experience points and 10,000 system coins."
"Congratulations, host, on your advancement to Level-2 System Devastator. All attributes have increased by 5 points, and you've gained 10 free attribute points! The System Devastator radar's detection range has expanded by 10%, and the warning radius by 10 meters. A new skill, 'Capture,' has been unlocked."
"The exclusive System Devastator skill 'Capture' allows you to seize systems that have lost their hosts, with a cooldown of 24 hours. You currently have three system card slots available."
"Congratulations, host, on capturing a new system, the Super Rich System. Would you like to integrate it?"
"Yes!" Yang Yu didn't hesitate to choose 'Yes.'
"System integration underway. Please be patient, host..."
"Integration complete. You now control the Super Rich System. The System Devastator will now begin modifying and upgrading the Super Rich System. Please wait..."
"Upgrade finished!"
"Welcome to the Super Rich System!" A fresh system alert tone rang out, distinctly different from the System Devastator's.
Simultaneously, a new icon materialized in Yang Yu's vision for the Super Rich System, resplendent in gold, while the System Devastator icon was dimmed.
"Congratulations on becoming the second host of the Super Rich System. Would you like to inherit the assets of the former host, Kung Tianhua?"
"The former host's assets can be inherited too!" Yang Yu was thrilled, barely containing his excitement as he quickly confirmed his choice.
"Congratulations, you have inherited all of Kung Tianhua's assets. The inheritance has cost you 8,000 system coins, which have been deducted from your account."
"The system has rolled out a daily task: 'Tycoon's Day.' Please spend a specified amount of money within the allotted time. Upon completion of the task, the system will grant you a corresponding reward."
"Damn, this Super Rich System is insanely cool. The daily task is literally to spend money!" Yang Yu eagerly clicked to accept the mission.
The next second, a spinning wheel materialized before his eyes.
The wheel whirred, coming to a halt quickly, revealing the number "10,000,000!"
"You must spend 10 million yuan before midnight. The necessary funds for the mission have been deposited into your inventory. Complete the mission for a 50 system coin reward. Fail, and 1000 system coins will be deducted!"
"Midnight?" Yang Yu glanced at his watch. It was already 5 PM, leaving him just seven hours.
"Time's a bit tight, but blowing through 10 million shouldn't be too hard," Yang Yu mused.
He checked his inventory to find a new currency labeled "Mission Coin," alongside the gold and system coins.
The Mission Coin balance read 10 million, with a disclaimer: "Invalid after midnight!"
Just then, a sharply dressed middle-aged man approached Yang Yu, extending a document. "Mr. Yang, good day. I am Attorney Gong, handling the estate of Director Kung. Per his will, you are the sole heir to his entire fortune!"
Lyu Huan stood frozen, bewildered. "What's happening? Why is Yang Yu the heir to Kung Tianhua?"
If Yang Yu wasn't her own flesh and blood, Lyu Huan might have doubted whether there was some undisclosed connection between him and Kung Tianhua.
Only Yang Yu knew the truth: these were just tactics by the Super Rich System to shift assets without raising suspicion. If he suddenly came into a vast fortune, it would certainly draw unwanted attention.
The so-called will was likely another fabrication by the Super Rich System, with Director Kung none the wiser. And the attorney handling the will? Probably just an NPC.
Unbeknownst to them, the crowd around had resumed their usual bustle.
Upon hearing the attorney's words, he was utterly bewildered. Just seconds before, the two had been at each other's throats, but suddenly, Kung Tianhua was dead, and Yang Yu was named his sole heir.
"Mr. Yang, if you have no objections to the will, please sign here," the estate attorney instructed.
Without hesitation, Yang Yu made a sweeping gesture and signed his name.
"Mr. Yang, or rather, Chairman Yang, as of today, you are the chairman of Tianhua Credit Company. The day-to-day operations will be managed by a professional team; your responsibility is simply to attend board meetings punctually," the attorney said with deference.
"Mr. Yang, I must ask you to leave the premises now!" Out of nowhere, a group of bodyguards, likely NPCs, who had not been seen before, approached Yang Yu, his mother, and the onlookers, signaling for them to exit.
Before the crowd could grasp what was happening, the bodyguards had ushered them out.
Stepping out of the building, Yang Yu and his mother were still dazed, particularly Lyu Huan, who couldn't fathom the day's events.
"Yu, what just happened?" Lyu Huan asked, her mind reeling from the day's surreal events. She wondered how Yang Yu survived his injuries, why he seemed impervious to pain, why Kung Tianhua had knelt before him, and, most puzzlingly, why Kung Tianhua had chosen Yang Yu as his heir.
"I'm not sure myself. Let's head to the hospital to check on my sister," Yang Yu replied urgently, eager for his sister to take the advanced healing medicine.
Just then, his mother's phone rang. "Little Huan, it turns out Deputy Director Zhou was the one misusing public funds. He's confessed, and I've been released!"
"That's wonderful!" exclaimed Lyu Huan, elated by the news.
At the hospital, Yang Yu discreetly placed the advanced healing medicine into his sister's mouth before exiting the ward.
"Sister-in-law, here's two hundred thousand yuan. Use this for Manman's surgery," Uncle Hua said as he arrived at the hospital, quickly handing the money to Yang Yu's mother.
"You're Yang Manman's relatives, correct? We need the medical fees paid immediately, or we'll have to withhold treatment," the medical staff informed them, their tone devoid of sympathy.
"Please, you can't stop the treatment. Manman's life depends on it," Uncle Hua implored the doctors and nurses.
Attending physician Hwa Rongfei took a quick look at Uncle Hua's police uniform before speaking with restrained patience. "I recommend discontinuing treatment. We've already issued three critical condition notices. Yang Manman's chances of survival are virtually nonexistent. Continuing treatment is merely squandering money. Furthermore, even if by some miracle she survives, she'll be bedridden and dependent on life-support equipment indefinitely. Such long-term medical costs would be unsustainable for an average family, let alone a wealthy one!"
"Please, if we stop the medication, Manman is certain to die!" her mother pleaded desperately.
Despite the bleak odds, Lyu Huan, as a mother, couldn't fathom giving up on her child's life. If possible, she would willingly trade her own life for Manman's.
"If you insist on continuing treatment, then settle the medical bills. The hospital isn't a charity; we need funds to operate our medical equipment," Hwa Rongfei stated, his tone icy.
"Everyone, just get out! We don't need any more treatment!" Yang Yu burst out in anger at the situation.
"Fine, you've made your choice. Leave the hospital now!" Hwa Rongfei retorted furiously, making to leave.
"Go ahead, say that again. Try and see who else besides our hospital would dare to take in Yang Manman!"
"You've made your bed, now lie in it. Once you leave our hospital, you might as well prepare for the worst," sneered the other medical staff, convinced that leaving the hospital was a certain death sentence.
Just then, a frail voice cut through the commotion. "What's all this arguing about?"
At the sound, everyone turned to see a slender girl, barefoot, standing in the doorway of the ward.
"Yang Manman... How did you get out of bed?" Hwa Rongfei exclaimed, shocked.
He had already delivered three critical condition notices to the family. Yet there stood Yang Manman, out of bed on her own, her bare arms and legs showing no sign of injury.
"Manman, this isn't safe. Get back to bed immediately. With injuries like yours, you shouldn't be up and about," Lyu Huan implored, tears streaming down her face as she rushed to Manman's side, urging her back to bed.
"Manman's back to health, Mom—no need to worry!" Yang Yu declared with a triumphant grin.
"Back to health? More like a fleeting rally before the end," Hwa Rongfei scoffed, then turned to the medical staff beside him, "Give Yang Manman a comprehensive examination, immediately!"
With the hospital's reputation at stake, Hwa Rongfei was understandably cautious.
Moments later, the test results left Hwa Rongfei frozen in shock. "Completely healthy? All her levels are normal? How can this be?"
"Does this mean we can be discharged now?" Yang Yu inquired.
"Yes... Yes, you can!" Hwa Rongfei managed to utter, his voice faltering. In his thirty years of medicine, he had never encountered such a miraculous recovery—it was as if it were straight out of a myth.
The patients and their relatives nearby began to murmur among themselves.
"Wasn't there a notice about her critical condition? How did she get better?"
"You folks aren't aware of hospital schemes? They scare patients into paying. I know about Yang Manman—her dad's in the army, her mom's with a state enterprise, they're quite well-off. But ever since she was admitted here, she's been hounded by loan sharks. Old Yang even misappropriated funds to cover medical bills and got investigated by the authorities!"
"This hospital's a trap. Let's move to another one before we end up with more problems than we came with!"
As the murmurs swirled around him, Hwa Rongfei found himself at a loss for words.
How could he argue against what was right before his eyes? Yet, he couldn't fathom what had transpired to bring a patient back from the brink so suddenly.
