C18 The Forced Training
"This... This can't be Brother Changshun, can it? He must be joking." Du Yuewei's eyes were wide with disbelief.
Xiuxiu was quite fond of Changshun and had seen him as a child, so she recognized him immediately.
"Brother Changshun, how did you transform like this?"
"So this is really me? How can that be?"
"Brother Changshun, you're absolutely astonishing."
Once everyone had settled down, they gathered in the living room for a chat.
Changshun had changed into fresh clothes and now looked incredibly handsome, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and a bright smile. His most striking feature was his well-defined abs, the result of years of physical labor.
With his new appearance, he would undoubtedly draw the attention of countless women if he simply stood on the street.
Du Yuewei gazed at Changshun with stars in her eyes.
"You're too handsome. What on earth happened inside your house to make such a change? I want your skin too."
Du Yuewei boldly stroked Changshun's arm, marveling at its smoothness.
Xiuxiu couldn't stand it any longer. She subtly moved to sit next to Changshun, creating a barrier between him and Du Yuewei.
"Brother Changshun, what in the world happened?"
"I really don't know."
"Fool, it was obviously my doing. You look great now. You'd make a fortune if you went out to sell. You'll soon earn enough to gather materials for me."
Changshun then realized it was the belle's doing after hearing the voice in his head.
"Uh, maybe I took the wrong medication, and that's why I feel off. I'm going to lie down for a bit."
"Hold on, Brother Changshun, what kind of medicine did you take? Share some with me. I want skin like yours too," Du Yuewei pleaded enviously.
Changshun chuckled awkwardly and swiftly retreated to his room, closing the door behind him with a fluid motion.
"What are you playing at? Turning me into this and expecting me to sell myself? I refuse!"
"I figured as much. Well, it looks like I'll have to resort to more drastic measures."
"What are you planning to do?"
Changshun tensed up with worry.
"Do you want to become stronger?"
Changshun remained silent.
He thought this peculiar woman was akin to a demon, offering tempting proposals that led unsuspecting souls to damnation.
"If you stay silent, I'll take that as a yes. Once you're stronger, you'll have the power to make money. Starting tonight, your intensive training begins."
"I refuse... I won't..."
Changshun couldn't finish his protest before his body convulsed as if struck by lightning, causing him immense pain.
After the shock subsided, he lay on the ground, smoke rising from his head, looking utterly disheveled.
"You've earned your punishment. In my presence, you have no right to refuse."
Changshun was coerced into nighttime training exercises.
Simple tasks like weighted running were easy for him, thanks to his good physical condition.
But the demands soon became excessive.
"You've got to be kidding. If I jump from here, I'll die."
At that moment, Changshun stood atop a twenty-seven-story building.
Don't ask how he got up there in the dead of night. The belle's current command was for him to leap to the building across the way, a gap of at least four meters, making the chance of success virtually nonexistent.
"If you don't jump, I'll throw you off right now, and that will be the end of it."
Her chilling tone sent a shiver down Changshun's spine.
"What are you, exactly? We have no quarrel. Why are you doing this to me?"
"Will you jump or not?"
"I'll jump!"
Changshun, facing certain death either way, decided to take a chance.
He prepared for a running start and launched himself toward the rooftop of the building opposite.
Convinced he was about to die, he closed his eyes to face his fate.
But when he landed on solid ground, the pain was so overwhelming that he nearly wept with relief.
Opening his eyes, he found himself on the rooftop of the other building.
"I actually... made it."
"Yes, you did. They say you're quite the lucky one. Now, let's get back to training."
The belle had presented Changshun with challenges that pushed him beyond his limits. They were fraught with danger, yet they served to build his courage.
She also imparted numerous practical combat skills to Changshun.
After just one night of training, Changshun had achieved more than others who had spent six months in a club.
Exhausted, Changshun collapsed into bed and immediately fell into a deep sleep.
He dreamt of a stunningly beautiful place, with mountains, rivers, birds singing, and the sweet scent of flowers. Nearby, a woman knelt before a stone platform.
Changshun felt an urge to approach her, as he faintly heard someone beckoning him.
"Come on... Hehe... Come over..."
As Changshun moved toward the voice, a vast pit suddenly appeared before him. He misstepped, plummeting into the darkness, and awoke with a start.
"Brother Changshun, are you okay?" Xiuxiu asked, her concern evident.
"Why am I here?"
"Brother Changshun, you were out cold. I was about to take you to the hospital."
"Brother Changshun, Xiuxiu, I have great news. My cousin has arrived."
Before Changshun could ascertain who her cousin was, the person in question walked in.
It was Ling Kemiao.
Upon seeing the man seated on the bed, Ling Kemiao paused in surprise.
"Weiwei, you said Wang Changshun was here. Where is he?"
"Cousin, I knew you wouldn't recognize him. Look, that's Brother Changshun! Isn't it incredible? He only spent a few hours in the room, and he emerged transformed. I'm so jealous of his skin; it's softer and smoother than that of a young girl."
Ling Kemiao turned her gaze to Changshun, who returned her look.
Changshun appeared to have undergone a metamorphosis. While he was still the same person on the inside, his outward appearance now resembled that of an aristocratic young man, particularly his pale, handsome face, which with a mere glance could captivate a woman for an extended period.
Indeed, it's often said that beauty is the most sought after.
When someone becomes more attractive, they really do gain a lot.
"Cough cough! I'm here today to officially notify you that starting tomorrow, you'll be working at Preweet."
"Ah?" Changshun looked astonished.
He could sense that Ling Kemiao really disliked him, so why the sudden change of heart about him working at the company? It didn't make sense.
"That's fantastic, Brother Changshun! Now you've got a job. My cousin even mentioned that once you start, you'll be the head of the security team, in charge of the entire building's security."
Xiuxiu watched Ling Kemiao, impeccably dressed, and began to feel a sense of inferiority.
Whether it was the haughty Ling Kemiao or the bubbly Du Yuewei, neither seemed like ordinary people. And here they both were, drawn to Brother Changshun. Could it be that Brother Changshun...
Her eyes quickly shifted to Changshun, worried that he might fall for one of them.
But Changshun didn't betray any peculiar emotions; instead, he asked in a composed manner, "Why?"
"Why what?"
