C10 Fight

Normally, a bullet fired from a gun would be hot and glowing red, spinning as it travels. Mark's bullets, however, were pitch-black and barely spinning at all!

So this is what enhanced bullets look like! The lack of spin means both shooting distance and accuracy would be compromised! It seems his psionic power also has a significant drawback.

Looking over at Martina, the lady with the double ponytails was glaring at Mark with intense ferocity. Behind her, countless shards of rock were poised to launch. It was unclear whether they were meant to intercept Mark's enhanced bullets or to strike at Mark himself.

Meanwhile, the water screen in front of Quintana had thickened in an instant. What was once a mere fountain now boasted the presence of a small waterfall.

The three gunmen continued their relentless firing, unlikely to cease until their magazines were empty.

From the current slowdown in time, it appeared that both sides were evenly matched.

Wait! I've forgotten about myself! Egil, too, was a participant in this confrontation! And it was very likely that he could be the deciding factor!

If he joined one side, the scales of battle would tip in that direction!

So now the question arises!

Whom should he assist? Martina or Mark?

Here it was, the pivotal choice had emerged! Egil's greatest use of his psionic power was now at hand! With Enhanced Perception, Egil had ample time to think things through and arrive at the most accurate decision during these critical moments. In contrast, most people rush their decisions under pressure, often leading to hasty and erroneous choices.

Egil concentrated, contemplating which side to align with, first considering the strengths and weaknesses of the combatants.

He had initially believed that Rapper and Mark were Martina's underlings, but to his surprise, they had suddenly turned on each other, unleashing lethal moves without restraint. Clearly, Egil had completely misjudged the situation.

Egil replayed the events since his arrival in the Arctic.

First, there was the encounter with Mark and Rapper after the plane crash.

Mark had opened fire on the cockpit, coercing Egil and his classmates to descend into the underground ruins.

Egil strained to remember the details from that time. The plane had been surrounded by numerous gunmen, all dressed similarly to Mark.

The attire of the polar gunmen, complete with polar assault rifles.

From the icy expanses to the underground ruins, it seemed that everyone was under Mark's command. The patrols, the gatekeepers, and those controlling the elevators were all polar gunmen—Mark's people.

It wasn't until we reached the excavation site of the prehistoric remains that we encountered researchers in white coats. Among them, Quintana, the blue-eyed girl, stood out as the most formidable. They were likely Martina's people.

It was surprisingly straightforward—their affiliations were distinguished by their attire. The balance of power between the two sides was clear at a glance.

A quick headcount revealed that Mark's forces outnumbered Martina's.

Mark, the Rapper, was the one in control of everything.

His men, armed and stationed around the ruins, seemed less like protectors and more like prison guards.

That's it! Guards! A prison! Egil realized the truth. Willoughby University wasn't in control of the Azure Dragon Garden; both were under Mark's thumb!

Clever move, Captain Mark! He had effectively taken Willoughby University hostage, yet managed to keep outsiders like Egil oblivious, luring them into his trap. He had added a fresh batch of labor and new hostages to his ranks.

We were the new hostages. Martina and the others were the old ones.

Naturally, hostages would stand with their fellow captives!

Egil made up his mind to assist Martina and deal with the Rapper, Mark!

He turned and sprang into action! Despite the flurry of thoughts, it all happened in a blink of an eye.

As Mark's second enhanced bullet collided with Martina's rock and exploded, to the others, it was over in an instant.

In the midst of the explosion's shockwave, Egil lunged at the three gunmen on the perimeter.

"Danger!" Quintana cried out.

Egil swerved, narrowly avoiding the bullets aimed straight at him.

There was no need to outpace the bullets; he just had to evade the gun barrels and be quicker than the gunmen's reflexes.

Moreover, two of the three guns were still trained on Quintana, leaving only one gunman to respond to Egil's assault.

Egil, with his enhanced perception, was always a step ahead, dodging just in time. After three swift evasions, he was face-to-face with the gunman!

The gunman was taken aback, raising his gun to strike at Egil. Yet, to his surprise, Egil's hands were already poised and ready, effortlessly disarming him.

Ratatat! Egil fired immediately, taking down the three gunmen.

Their eyes were wide with disbelief as they hit the ground.

Witnessing Egil's display of power, Mark and the two others ceased fire.

Egil deactivated his psionic power and quipped, "Yo, no more fighting. You guys are sharp."

With that, Egil stooped to retrieve another gun from a fallen body, now brandishing one in each hand, the dark barrels aimed at Mark.

Unfazed, Mark remarked, "Kid, your psionic power is quite intriguing. I can't even discern what it is!"

"Enough talk, Mark!" Martina cut in. "It's three against one now. Just surrender. Command the Willoughby students to release each other, and I'll let you leave by boat!"

"And the students from Azure Dragon Garden!" Egil chimed in loudly.

Post-battle conversations are always a mess, particularly when lives have been lost.

Despite the chaos, Mark grasped Martina's proposed terms. His response was a scoff. "Surrender? Hahaha..." He laughed mockingly before retorting, "You Willoughby folks sure are arrogant. Do you really think I brought these three incompetents to take you on? Am I that foolish? To keep things secret, I brought as few people as possible? Or did you think this pilot would be duped into seeing you as the enemy and side with me?"

No sooner had he spoken than Egil sensed trouble, but it was already too late. "Not good!"

Boom! Boom! Boom! The bullets before Quintana exploded within her water shield, each with the force of Mark's rock-shattering enhanced rounds!

World Interference! Third-level meta-human! Mark was a third-level meta-human!

'Enhanced Perception!' Egil hastily engaged his psionic power, hoping to reverse the tide, but it was already too late.

Mark's gaze had clearly shifted their way!

Boom! Boom! The two guns in Egil's hands detonated simultaneously! That was the limitation of his psionic power. He could only use his Enhanced Perception to sense danger in advance, but if he couldn't evade in time, it was already too late.

The guns' explosion disrupted Egil's psionic power. Blood spurted from his hands as he collapsed, tumbling into the sea, which turned a stark, bright red.

Quintana, too, fell to the ground, but she didn't end up in the water like Egil. She was somewhat better off. Martina caught her in time. Blood soaked Quintana's chest, staining her white coat a vivid red.
