C12 Chapter 12 – Immortal Wine
Luo Yun escorted Tang Xueqi from the neighboring ward.
With a worried gaze, Tang Xueqi scrutinized Luo Yun. "What did they do to you?" she asked.
She found it hard to believe that Luo Yun had returned unharmed.
His mere presence indicated that the situation was far from simple.
Luo Yun offered a faint smile. "What could they do? I just sat for a bit."
Tang Xueqi's face betrayed her skepticism. His explanation was hardly convincing.
She racked her brain but couldn't fathom how Luo Yun had managed to return.
The only plausible explanation was that the Zhang family had demanded something outrageous, and Luo Yun had acquiesced, securing his release.
Tang Xueqi's expression grew somber as if she had resolved to confront Zhang Tinglei in his ward.
"It's really nothing, don't overthink it," Luo Yun reassured her, grasping her arm. "You won't have to worry about Zhang Tinglei bothering you anymore. I doubt he'll be showing his face to you again."
Tang Xueqi blinked in surprise. "Are you... ill again?"
Despite his condition, he was still concerned and comforting her, which suggested she held a significant place in his heart.
She silently yearned to embrace Luo Yun.
Luo Yun, slightly exasperated, gently pushed her away. "What are you talking about? What illness?"
"The Zhang family wouldn't release someone without a reason..."
"I..."
Luo Yun sighed, at a loss for words.
"Just head back for now. You'll understand everything in a couple of days."
"If I go back, where will you be?" she asked.
"Meeting a friend," he replied.
Upon hearing this, Tang Xueqi studied Luo Yun intently, searching for any signs of deceit. Finding none, she finally said, "Okay, I'll head back. Just make sure you come home early." With a sigh, she turned and walked away.
As she left, Luo Yun glanced over his shoulder.
The worm chuckled and crept up behind him.
He surreptitiously observed Luo Yun, inwardly astounded.
Earlier, there hadn't been a chance for a thorough look, but now, even under close scrutiny, there was no hint of a disguise.
Only someone deeply familiar with the Boss's gaze, demeanor, and subtle gestures could recognize him.
The worm was almost certain he wouldn't recognize Luo Yun if he saw him.
Having witnessed the Thousand-faced Fox's art of disguise, he had assumed that the one Boss had trained would surpass the master. But today, he had seen a whole new level of skill.
The Thousand-faced Fox's techniques, learned from the Boss, only proved that a disciple is still a disciple after all, the worm mused.
Luo Yun hopped into the worm's car, and they quickly located a bar.
Inside, the dim lighting flickered as clusters of young men and women mingled. The place wasn't at its peak liveliness yet, and the dance floor was sparsely populated.
"Boss, I..."
The worm sipped his drink, about to say something.
But he was left speechless when a hand suddenly clapped down on Luo Yun's shoulder.
"Isn't that Luo the fool? How odd to see him in a bar. Have fools learned to savor life now?" a voice jeered, filled with mock surprise.
Luo Yun glanced over with a cool gaze and saw a flamboyantly dressed group to one side.
The hand on his shoulder belonged to a youth with soft, delicate skin who, despite his age, was trying to pass off as much younger.
Pointing to himself, the youth taunted, "Hey, Luo the fool, recognize me? Remember who I am?"
"Are you brain-damaged?" Luo Yun brushed his hand off.
The youth's laughter only grew at Luo Yun's annoyance. "No surprise you've forgotten. I'm Wang Junwen. We shouldn't be too hard on fools..."
He reached out to pat Luo Yun's head.
Clearly, he underestimated Luo Yun.
Luo Yun caught his arm, giving it a squeeze.
Wang Junwen's face contorted as he glanced at his now-throbbing arm and let out a scream.
Luo Yun spoke calmly, "Wang Junwen, try anything like that again, and it won't just be a hand you have to worry about."
He certainly didn't recognize Wang Junwen.
But the body's memories were clear; this was Wang Yulan's nephew, the son of her brother.
His response had been necessary, as the marks of the assault were all too apparent.
The crew trailing Wang Junwen was momentarily dumbfounded, half-expecting some sort of scam from him.
But it was only upon seeing Wang Junwen's swollen wrist that they grasped the reality—Luo Yun had truly struck.
"Hey, Young Master Wang, who's this idiot? You know him?"
"Need us to step in?"
The young men were eager, fists at the ready, yet they held back, exercising caution. They didn't want to tangle with someone potentially connected to Wang Junwen. His status was unclear; even if the guy was a complete imbecile or a comatose patient, he was off-limits without Wang Junwen's say-so.
Wang Junwen winced, catching his breath, and shot Luo Yun a frosty glare. "Damn, Luo Yun, that's some strength you've got there..."
With a subtle gesture, he signaled his crew to stand down.
Clutching his arm, he settled to one side and declared, "Luo Yun, you've hurt me today. You owe me an apology at the very least."
"Apologize?" Luo Yun's eyebrows arched inquisitively.
"Someone get Young Master Luo a cup of the finest immortal wine!"
Wang Junwen sneered as he passed a cup forward.
One of the bystanders, a young man, stepped up with a laugh, "I've got just the thing!"
He grabbed the cup, unzipped, and relieved himself right there, filling it up!
He set the cup on the table with a chuckle, "No offense, Young Master Wang. We're a bit short on supply, but this should suffice, right?"
"That's enough," Wang Junwen dismissed him with a wave of his hand. "Luo Yun, down this cup of 'divine' wine, and I'll let today's incident slide."
"Drink up, or it'll get ugly!"
"Chug! Chug! Chug!"
The crowd was abuzz with excitement. Several guys bore a menacing look, as if ready to pounce should Luo Yun refuse. Meanwhile, a few girls were filming the scene, eager to capture the moment for posterity.
Wang Junwen, unruffled, allowed Luo Yun a moment to ponder.
He cast a glance at the worm and remarked, "When I arrived earlier, it looked like you two were sharing a drink. Are you acquainted?"
"Oh, no, we're not," the worm replied nonchalantly, a slight smirk playing at the corner of his mouth.
He stepped back a bit.
Noticing that Luo Yun remained motionless, he retreated even further.
"Pfft!"
Wang Junwen had been eagerly anticipating Luo Yun sipping the divine liquor.
To his shock, Luo Yun flung the Godly Wine right in his face, the splash sending a chorus of gasps rippling through the crowd.
Yet, Luo Yun stood his ground, not a single drop of the Godly Wine veering off course.
The worm gave a silent nod of approval. Impressive!
"Damn it!"
Wang Junwen, wiping the Godly Wine from his face, erupted in rage.
His entourage shared in his fury.
