C16 The 16th Chapter Is Still Small.
Compared to Tang Jujiu's irritation and impatience, Tang Loong was all smiles. "Hey, Jujiu, that's not fair. Why can't Luo Yun be invited? He's human too, isn't he? Xueqi, Yulan, you really should come. I'll be looking forward to it."
His grin suggested a closeness that may not have been entirely genuine, and it certainly shifted the mood for Tang Xueqi and Wang Yulan.
Catching on, Tang Jujiu burst into laughter. "Exactly! You must attend. Right, Luo Yun?"
Luo Yun simply nodded.
His earnestness triggered laughter around the room. Luo Yun, the loveable fool, was always good for a laugh.
Wang Yulan, however, was far from amused. Internally seething, she was embarrassed yet again by Luo Yun's antics.
Tang Loong turned to her, "Yulan, did you miss what I just said?"
She hesitated, "Um..."
"It's decided then. If you don't show up, I'll come and get you myself," Tang Loong declared with a serious tone.
Wang Yulan was taken aback. "Wait, Tang Loong, what are you—"
"Enough," Tang Loong cut her off with a cold chuckle. "It's settled."
Wang Yulan's frustration was palpable, and Tang Xueqi could only offer a wry smile in response.
Soon, the living room filled with more guests, all chatting and laughing. In stark contrast, Tang Xueqi's group sat isolated, seemingly forgotten.
Wang Yulan was livid. If she could, she'd throttle Luo Yun for the shame he brought upon them.
As the evening wound down and the guests dispersed, Wang Yulan unleashed her fury in the car. "Luo Yun, what are you thinking? Isn't it enough that you've embarrassed us? Do you want to grind our faces into the dirt?!"
Her voice pierced the silence of the car, and even those outside, including Tang Loong, couldn't help but laugh.
Tang Xueqi tried to calm her. "Mom, please..."
"If not him, then who? If you can't back up your words, then stay quiet. No one thinks you're mute. Look at the mess now!"
Wang Yulan glanced outside, saw Tang Loong's car drive away, and fumed, "He won't miss this chance to make us look foolish. What will you do then, huh?"
"What's there to do? Just attend the banquet," Luo Yun replied coolly.
"Where's your invitation? Show it to me!" Wang Yulan demanded.
Tang Xueqi shot Luo Yun a look, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
But Luo Yun was unfazed. "Why would I need an invitation? A simple heads-up should suffice."
Tang Xueqi's face fell.
Wang Yulan was beside herself with frustration, "Look at you, so full of yourself. Just a 'hello' is enough? Why don't you shoot for the stars while you're at it?"
"Put on some music."
"Hey, you little rascal..."
"Mom, that's enough," Tang Xueqi interjected with a sigh.
Wang Yulan glared at Luo Yun resentfully.
They arrived home to find visitors still at the door. Wang Yulan spotted the two outside and hurriedly exited the car. "Oh, brother, what brings you here?"
"Auntie," Wang Junwen acknowledged with a nod.
"What auntie!"
The middle-aged man beside Wang Junwen yanked at him, his face stern. "Your aunt's family did this to you? Is this the kind of thing your aunt's son-in-law would do?"
Wang Junwen's lips quirked up, but he remained silent.
Wang Yulan blinked in confusion. "Bro, what are you getting at?"
"What am I getting at?" The man replied icily. "Take a good look at what your wonderful son-in-law did to my son, your nephew."
Wang Junwen obligingly rolled up his sleeve to reveal a swollen arm.
"This…" Wang Yulan gasped in shock.
"The keys?"
"The keys…"
She paused, then glared at him, "Luo Yun, what exactly happened?!"
"Hmm?"
Luo Yun arched an eyebrow.
Wang Yulan demanded, "Junwen says you hit him. What's the story?!"
Luo Yun cast a glance at Wang Junwen, who was smirking.
The middle-aged man stared Luo Yun down and said, "If it were anyone else, I'd flay them for touching my son. But for Yulan's sake, I'm giving you a chance."
"Brother, please, calm down. He's not thinking straight. Let's go inside," Wang Yulan urged.
Wang He huffed, and they all entered the house.
Luo Yun settled into a seat. "Okay, go ahead..."
"I wasn't talking to you!"
Wang Yulan scolded him, then turned to Wang He with a strained smile. "Brother, there's got to be some mistake. The injury isn't that bad. How about I have Luo Yun apologize, and we call it even?"
She was secretly relieved it was just a superficial injury; anything worse might have spelled trouble for her too.
But Wang He countered coldly, "Do you think I'd come all this way over a minor injury?"
"Ah? Is there another injury?" Wang Yulan was alarmed.
She glanced at Luo Yun, who was nonchalantly watching TV.
Wang Junwen said through clenched teeth, "Auntie, he made me drink urine!"
At those words, Wang Yulan's face turned pale.
Tang Xueqi, who had just come in, was taken aback. "What? Who made you drink... that?"
"Who else but him!" Wang He glared.
Tang Xueqi rubbed her temples. "Luo Yun?"
"Yes!"
"Luo Yun, what is this about?" Tang Xueqi asked, frowning.
She was already stressed, and Luo Yun's antics were only adding to her frustration.
Luo Yun replied coolly, "It's the bar's rules, not mine."
"The bar's rules?"
"Yeah, he lost a drinking bet to me. The loser had to drink urine. It was the owner's demand, not mine," Luo Yun explained with a shrug.
Wang He was livid. "Do you even realize how young Junwen is? You challenged him to a drinking game. Isn't that just bullying?"
"How old is he?" Luo Yun genuinely seemed taken aback.
"He's twenty-five, just twenty-five! How can you stoop so low?"
Wang He fumed, "Junwen hardly drinks, he stays away from that stuff. And you coerced him into drinking, just to humiliate him with urine?"
Is twenty-five really considered young?
And Wang Junwen doesn't even drink?
Luo Yun was somewhat taken aback. "Are you pulling my leg?"
"Joking? Me?" Wang He's face was flushed with anger.
Seeing this, Wang Yulan quickly interjected, "Brother, please, calm down. Let's not argue with him. If there's an issue, we can talk it out calmly. The more you say, the worse it seems to get, right?"
