C2 Chapter 2, must Say
Distant and unfamiliar memories began to emerge from the recesses of his mind.
The body he inhabited was also named Luo Yun, the sole heir to Luo's Group.
Three years prior, Luo Yun had married Tang Xueqi, the CEO of Tang's Group. On their wedding day, he piloted a private plane to take his family on a honeymoon, but tragedy struck when the plane malfunctioned and crashed into the ocean.
In the midst of the emergency, his parents and the parachute beneath his seat vanished without a trace. Only Tang Xueqi managed to secure a parachute and leap to safety.
Unable to swim, his parents perished instantly, while Luo Yun miraculously survived. However, the trauma left him sluggish and dazed.
Over time, Tang Xueqi seized control of the company, and Luo Yun's inherited assets fell under her management.
Luo Yun was reduced to a mere invalid, dependent on Tang Xueqi's care.
Three days ago, Tang Xueqi sought a divorce to dissolve their marriage in name only, but Luo Yun flatly refused.
Divorce was out of the question. He'd rather die than separate from Tang Xueqi.
The memories halted abruptly there.
Next came the scene of the God of War of the Southern Territory awakening in the moat.
The two sets of memories fused swiftly.
He, the undefeated God of War of the Southern Territory, the bane of enemy leaders, was now Luo Yun, Tang Xueqi's ineffectual husband. Not quite a son-in-law, yet more frustrated than one could imagine.
Embracing his new identity, Luo Yun's lips twisted into a wry smirk.
How amusing. He had vowed to never divorce, even in death, yet here he was, discarded in a river, left to the wilderness.
Was she that eager?
Without his original body's demise, how could he have been resurrected?
A fierce wind swept through.
"You worthless scoundrel, turning against your own! How dare you strike me! Today, I'll make sure you and that old man regret it; you'll remember who you belong to!"
The furious woman, seeing Luo Yun's recognition, was incensed that he neither knelt nor apologized as before, but instead met her with a cold sneer. Clearly, he no longer regarded her with any respect.
In a rage, she lunged at Luo Yun, aiming a heavy slap at his face.
"Smack!"
The sound echoed sharply.
The bystanders drew a collective breath.
Luo Yun stood his ground, his hand moving so swiftly that before anyone could process his actions, the woman had inadvertently slapped herself, swelling her face to the size of a pig's head.
The atmosphere was charged with a stunned silence.
No one had caught what had just transpired.
The woman herself was dumbfounded, feeling only a numbness in her elbow before her hand changed course...
It wasn't until the searing pain radiated across her face that she grasped what had occurred.
"Ah! You dare strike me! I'll kill you!"
Blinded by fury, Wang Yulan lost all sense of reason and charged at Luo Yun recklessly.
With a cold snort, Luo Yun pivoted on his foot, spinning away and flawlessly dodging the frenzied assault.
Wang Yulan, missing her target, turned her wrath on the elderly man behind Luo Yun.
Luo Yun's eyes narrowed, and in a flash, with no time to pull the old man to safety, he kicked out, sending Wang Yulan flying.
She crashed heavily onto the hood of the Maserati, denting it with the impact.
The sound of gasping filled the air, rising and falling in waves.
This guy had lost it, completely lost it. To beat his mother-in-law so savagely—this was the rhythm of a man headed straight for divorce!
But no, even in divorce, who would dare to strike their mother-in-law with such violence?
And despite his ragged clothes, his brother's agility was astonishing.
As the crowd murmured in shock, Luo Yun spoke with calm detachment, "Sorry, I shouldn't have hit you."
"Now, it's your turn to apologize to the old hero," Luo Yun demanded.
His icy stare pierced Wang Yulan like twin daggers!
"No, no need, young man, she doesn't have to apologize..." The elderly man's voice trembled, tears brimming in his eyes, "I'm fine, don't let this upset your family on my account..."
"She's in the wrong and she must apologize!" Luo Yun's voice was firm as he steadied the old man's arm.
In that moment, he became the old man's rock, his safe haven: "A nation's hero should never face humiliation! She has no right to insult you or the heroic spirit you carry!"
The words 'heroic spirit' shook the old man to his core, and he could no longer contain his tears.
"Yes! Apologize!"
"Apologize!"
Led by Luo Yun, the crowd's fervor ignited, their voices rising in a united chant.
This apology was necessary to quell the public's outrage.
Luo Yun's penetrating gaze remained fixed on Wang Yulan.
Was this the same son-in-law who was always a step behind, always dismissed as useless?
The oppressive aura weighed heavily on Wang Yulan.
Biting back her anger, she managed a terse, "Sorry."
She thought to herself, a smart woman doesn't suffer in silence. He had shamed her, but once they were home, she'd make him pay.
"Louder!" Luo Yun's command boomed.
Wang Yulan trembled, her glare seething with fury as she bellowed, "I'm sorry!"
"That's enough, enough!" The old man interjected. As a veteran who had endured loneliness, lacking wealth and influence, he was used to swallowing his grievances.
But today's events had reignited the fire in his once-cold heart. There were still those in the world who remembered their service, their sacrifices!
He lived with no regrets.
"Have you forgiven her?" Luo Yun inquired.
"I forgive her, young man. I forgive her! Thank you for allowing us old soldiers to maintain our dignity," the old man said through his tears.
"It's the least I can do," Luo Yun replied, helping the old man. "Let me take you to the hospital."
"No need, I'm fine. Young man, you truly are a good person!"
Yielding to the old man's insistence, Luo Yun relented.
After seeing the old man safely across the street, Luo Yun made his way back to Wang Yulan.
The onlookers remained, their curiosity unsated.
The irate woman had already called her daughter to tattle. Seeing Luo Yun return, she swelled with indignation, "Luo Yun, I've called Xueqi. You're finished today! The Tang family will not stand for this!"
"Mmm." Luo Yun nodded nonchalantly, ignoring his mother-in-law's tantrum on the car hood. He opened the car door and settled into the driver's seat.
If his memory served him right, this car was purchased with the Luo family's money, and their home had been bought by his late parents.
The so-called Tang family? More like usurpers in a stolen nest.
Tang Xueqi made quick time, pulling up in her pink Bentley in front of Luo Yun in under thirty minutes!
Yet Luo Yun's attention was fixed on the passenger seat.
There, where Luo Yun himself should have been seated, was a man clad in a bespoke suit and gold-rimmed glasses.
His hair was impeccably styled, and he exuded the scent of woody cologne, the epitome of an urban elite with a youthful, successful aura.
"Mom…" Tang Xueqi, also in a sharp business suit, stepped out of the car in haste. Despite being fully covered in a long coat and pants, her well-tailored attire accentuated her slender waist and shapely hips. Her long, lean legs were flawlessly showcased by the suit pants.
But it was her exquisite face that was truly unforgettable, utterly captivating. Even with Luo Yun's vague memory of Tang Xueqi's features from his past life, he found himself taking a second, lingering look.
She was a vision of beauty.
Yet beneath that facade lay a heart of stone.
Luo Yun's eyes moved from the man to the woman before him, observing her with a curious interest.
He was even somewhat eager to see the expression she would wear upon discovering he was still very much alive.
