C12 Excited

Afterward, Huang Feng began to contemplate the potential uses for his storage box.

With two experiences under his belt, Huang Feng surmised that the box's primary function was to transform items placed within it into something similar, yet with enhanced capabilities. Take, for instance, his ordinary knockoff leather shoes, which had morphed into a pair of high-performance "running shoes." These shoes allowed Huang Feng to sprint as fast as, if not faster than, professional athletes.

Next, he considered the origins of these items. The first pair of shoes was purportedly invented by a Professor Nors, a name unfamiliar to Huang Feng, leaving him unable to ascertain the professor's identity.

The "golden silk soft armor" he had recently acquired was a different story. Huang Feng was well-acquainted with the renown of Ao Bai and Wei Xiao Bao, having watched the TV series "Deer and the Cauldron" in multiple versions. He was quite knowledgeable about the characters and items featured in the series.

This "golden silk soft armor" was a coveted artifact within the world of "Deer and the Cauldron," having played a significant role alongside Wei Xiao Bao's dagger. Upon reading the description of the armor, Huang Feng realized it originated from the TV series or novel "Deer and the Cauldron." This meant his storage box had the ability to "connect" with scenes from TV series, novels, and potentially even movies.

In essence, any treasure featured in television, film, or literature could be exchanged by his storage box. Of course, there was also the chance it might produce something mundane. Huang Feng would need to further explore to determine the box's exact exchange capabilities.

These were Huang Feng's current insights into the storage box's functions, yet many mysteries remained. Questions such as the frequency of exchanges, specific requirements for items, and the extent of its connectivity to other realms were still unanswered.

Despite the many unknowns, Huang Feng's enthusiasm and value for the storage box remained undiminished. He was confident that with judicious use of the box, his future life promised to be even more thrilling.

"Finally, the heavens are smiling down on me! Ha, with this gem in my hands, I'm on the fast track to fortune. Could it be that I'm the fabled protagonist? Well, with my good looks, I've got to be the hero, right? Ha!" Huang Feng clutched the oversized storage box and burst into laughter. His spirits were soaring; he was itching to shout from the rooftops about his newfound treasure and his imminent rise to wealth.

Yet, he hadn't completely lost his wits. He was well aware that such matters were best kept under wraps—the fewer people who knew, the better. He understood all too well that innocence is no defense against the crime of possessing something valuable. If word got out about his storage box, he'd be powerless to defend it.

"No way, it's too risky to keep something this valuable in a rental. This place is a hodgepodge of folks, and I only chose it for the cheap rent. But once I've got some cash, I'm out of here. If I can afford it, I'll buy a house; if not, I'll at least rent somewhere with a nice environment and tight security." Huang Feng mused as he gazed at his storage box, which now represented all his hopes. He knew he had to take its safety seriously, given the precariousness of his current living situation.

With that settled, Huang Feng turned his attention to what exactly he should store in the box. From what he'd observed, it was tricky to pin down the exact timing of the box's exchanges, but it seemed to require just one item of a similar kind each time. Before, he had filled it with several pieces of clothing, but after acquiring the "golden silk soft armor," only one garment had vanished. Clearly, stuffing it with clothes was squandering the precious space.

Though the storage box was a tad larger than the average one, Huang Feng had once thought it took up too much room. Now, he wished it were even bigger—the larger it was, the more he could stash inside, and the more options he'd have. What if it could exchange two, or even three items at once? Even if it only swapped one, having a variety of choices would increase his chances of landing another treasure. After all, if he put in too few items and they weren't eligible for exchange, wouldn't that be a waste?

With a sense of urgency, Huang Feng emptied the contents of the box, leaving just a set of clothes and a book. This freed up a considerable amount of space. Now, he pondered what other treasures he might fill the remaining void with.

Huang Feng rose to survey his spartan surroundings. To save money, he had furnished his rental with only the bare essentials. Previously, this minimalism hadn't bothered him, but now he felt a stark lack of supplies.

"No, this won't do. After work tomorrow, I'm going shopping to stock up," he resolved. His bank account was running low, and without the new company's timely salary, next month's rent was uncertain. Yet, Huang Feng knew scrimping wasn't an option; he needed to think long-term.

With few possessions, and not wanting an empty storage box, he crammed in clothing, bowls, chopsticks, and whatever else fit until it could hold no more.

Contented with his efforts, Huang Feng settled into bed. The evening's activities had consumed much time, and night had deepened, but sleep eluded him. His mind buzzed with excitement. He glanced at the leather shoes beside his bed, then at the golden silk soft armor hanging above. A goofy grin spread across his face, and he chuckled to himself, grateful for the solitude that spared him from curious stares.

Despite the allure of his newfound treasures, they offered no financial relief, so work awaited him in the morning. With a sigh, he closed his eyes, willing sleep to come.

But rest proved elusive. He repeatedly rose to check the storage box, hoping for another miraculous find. Each fruitless check only fueled his anticipation, not his disappointment. He continued this cycle until exhaustion finally claimed him, and he drifted off to sleep on his bed.
