C8 A Class for a Month!
"Hey, where are you two headed?"
Lulu, who had been managing the chaos in the live broadcast room, noticed Xu Wenn and Lu Ming rising to leave and called out in a panic.
"Oh, I almost forgot about you!"
Xu Wenn suddenly remembered he had unfinished business.
"Ahem, so, just leave me your number and transfer the compensation to me later, okay?"
With that, Xu Wenn quickly scribbled his number on a piece of paper and handed it to Lulu before leading the way off the stage.
Lu Ming scurried after him, not wanting to be left behind.
"Xu Wenn, where are you off to?"
Ni Zhongwen, who had been keeping an eye on them, couldn't stay seated any longer.
This was the freshman orientation ceremony, and despite their status, they could at least show some respect to the principal.
"Ahem... Mr. Principal, we've got an urgent matter to attend to, so we'll be taking our leave now!"
Xu Wenn flashed an awkward grin, revealing his bright teeth, and hurried off the stage, grabbing his water bottle on the way.
"Wow, Teacher Xu is seriously impressive!"
"He doesn't even give face to the principal!"
"Ha, what a character! I love it. I've got to attend his lectures!"
"Get real. Do you think you can just waltz into an Aerospace class?"
"What's that supposed to mean? I thought all Huaqing University classes were open for auditing?"
"Sure, but you've got to be able to understand them!"
Below the stage, the scene sparked a buzz among the students.
Some of the newcomers were immediately intrigued by the idea of sitting in on Xu Wenn's lectures.
To the upperclassmen, though, such aspirations were pure fantasy. They quickly took on the role of seasoned advisors, enlightening the newbies with another fact about Xu Wenn.
"Sure, you can audit, but it'd be pointless if you did!"
"Prof. Xu's lectures aren't for just anyone!"
"Ever heard of spending a month just to grasp one class?"
The upperclassmen began to offer their guidance to the freshmen.
While Dinghai University's courses were not kept secret, Xu Wenn's were notoriously challenging. It was said that even with an IQ of 150, one would need a full month to thoroughly comprehend just one of his classes.
"A whole month for one class? I don't buy it. That's just because you're too dumb! I'm certain I could grasp it all in one session!"
In the new students' group chat, a strikingly handsome and arrogant newcomer scoffed dismissively.
"And who might you be, to make such a bold claim?"
Several upperclassmen gazed at the speaker, their faces etched with bemusement.
"Though I am but modest, I am this year's top scorer in the provincial exams!"
The dashing freshman tilted his head back and declared his impressive achievement with pride.
The Provincial Exams!
These were the most challenging exams in all of Great Zhou Country, notorious for being a notch tougher than any other region and drawing the highest number of candidates nationwide each year.
Securing the top spot in such a competitive environment was tantamount to being the nation's number one.
"Pfft! What am I even thinking?"
"Is that all?"
"Alas, I had hoped we were finally in the presence of a genius capable of shaking the establishment!"
"Alas... it seems this year will be no different."
The handsome newcomer had expected his academic laurels to earn him the older students' admiration and the pleasure of their envious glances.
He was no stranger to such attention, but standing out among a crowd of the accomplished was what truly thrilled him.
Clearly, his expectations had been dashed.
"What the hell?! What's this supposed to mean? You're disrespecting me?"
The new student was flustered.
"I was the top scorer in the last provincial exams!"
"This one here was the capital's top scorer in the previous exams!"
"And this one, a prodigy who was directly recruited by the university..."
The handsome newcomer watched the older students nodding and shaking their heads, rooted to the spot in shock. He hadn't anticipated that not a single one of them would be less accomplished than himself.
Each of these individuals was a standout genius, yet they all sighed in resignation when it came to Xu Wen. Could Prof. Xu Wen truly be that extraordinary?
"Young man, you may not be aware, but here at Huaqing University, we have an informal ranking system. It's all about how long it takes to fully comprehend one of Prof. Xu Wen's classes."
"I took 31 days!"
"The university-recommended prodigy did it in 29 days!"
"The standing record is 27 days and 7 hours!"
A group of upperclassmen shook their heads as they regaled the dashing freshman with tales of Huaqing University's folklore.
"Holy cow, that's incredible!"
The dashing freshman was utterly bewildered. The top record was just 27 days. Could the lectures given by Prof. Xu Wen be akin to some sort of divine scripture?
The handsome newcomer's spirits plummeted.
If his senior, who was also a top provincial scholar, took 31 days, then he was likely on the same level...
Wait, wasn't he supposed to be a genius?
...
"What? A jet plane?"
Over at Xu Wenn's.
Lu Ming's face was a picture of bewilderment as Xu Wenn handed him a hefty sheaf of blueprints.
It wasn't that jet planes weren't touted as great.
But...
They were essentially relics of the past.
In theory, jet planes were far more advanced than current turbofan aircraft, boasting much higher speeds, and they had indeed been used before.
So why had airlines ultimately phased out jet planes?
Because...
The operating costs of jets were astronomical, leading to exorbitant ticket prices. Moreover, jets were too fast, subjecting passengers to pressures exceeding standard atmospheric levels while cruising at high altitudes.
In layman's terms, this could induce chest tightness, nausea, and other adverse reactions.
It was an uncomfortable experience, and those with weaker constitutions might even pass out!
Who in their right mind would pay more for a subpar flight experience?
That would be absurd!
So, when Lu Ming glanced at the first page of the blueprint, his face soured considerably.
"Little Lu Ming, don't give me that look. You said you needed a more advanced aircraft, but you never specified against a jet..."
At this point, Xu Wenn felt somewhat sheepish.
He had been preoccupied with a different project and hadn't fully considered Lu Ming's specifications. Besides, the system already contained a plethora of such designs.
Xu Wenn didn't see the point in wasting his time on airplane research, so he had casually redeemed one and tossed it Lu Ming's way.
Nevertheless, Xu Wenn remained confident in the system's output.
After all, the system had yet to let Xu Wenn down.
Lu Ming glanced at Xu Wen's composed expression and, with patience, began to pore over the blueprints once more. He was acutely aware that his mentor's expertise had never once let him down.
