C17 A Fly Always Flies Around You

After Ling Yifei finished texting Chu Yingxue, he tidied up his books and placed them in the cubby at his desk. It was only then that he realized he had forgotten to bring a pen. Feeling slightly embarrassed, he watched his classmates diligently taking notes from the blackboard while he sat empty-handed.

Glancing at the person seated next to him, he asked in a gentle tone, "Excuse me, classmate, I was in such a rush I forgot to bring a pen. Could I possibly borrow one from you?"

As Ling Yifei spoke, he couldn't help but notice his seatmate's delicate features; her nose, eyes, and mouth seemed as if they were crafted from a work of art, exuding a quiet harmony. She appeared petite and adorable, possessing a unique charm that differed from Chu Yingxue's.

The girl at his side lifted her head and handed him a pen. Ling Yifei offered a grateful smile to the shy beauty, who then bashfully returned to her writing.

Han Yuxuan stole another glance at Ling Yifei, admiring his handsome features. "He has such beautiful eyebrows and eyes, giving off an air of elegance that's so pleasing to look at," she thought, before quickly averting her gaze.

"Stop it, I shouldn't be thinking this way," she chided herself, shaking her head. Despite her resolve, she couldn't resist sneaking another peek at Ling Yifei, then swiftly turned away again, convinced he hadn't noticed.

But Ling Yifei had observed it all, thinking to himself, "She's such an adorable girl," with a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

The bell signaling the end of class rang out, and the room buzzed with the relaxed chatter of students. The warm atmosphere was a comforting reminder of the essence of school life.

"Thank you for the pen," Ling Yifei said, extending his hand to return the borrowed item to his charming classmate.

"Oh, and by the way, what's your name?" he inquired, realizing it would be awkward not to know the name of the person sitting next to him, especially if he needed to ask for help again in the future.

"Han Yuxuan," she replied in a whisper so faint it was almost inaudible. Fortunately, Ling Yifei's keen senses allowed him to catch her name, which would have been a challenge for anyone with less acute hearing.

While Ling Yifei was chatting with a beautiful girl, he caught a glimpse of Jiaang Xueer approaching out of the corner of his eye and pretended not to notice.

"Ling Yifei, did you intentionally get my mother to place you in the same class as me?" Jiaang Xueer's voice boomed, silencing the class as all eyes turned to Ling Yifei.

"Heh, I had no idea Mrs. Zhao would put me in this class. Don't flatter yourself too much, okay?" Ling Yifei, who already had a low opinion of Jiaang Xueer, saw no reason to be pleasant to her.

"You..." Jiaang Xueer was at a loss for words after Ling Yifei's retort but quickly regained her composure.

"Heh, look at the poor kid from a bankrupt factory, coming to this school thanks to my mom. Are you trying to strut around here?" Jiaang Xueer's taunt was meant to embarrass Ling Yifei and salvage her own pride.

Everyone expected Ling Yifei to respond with a flushed face and a heated rebuttal, but instead, he simply glanced at Jiaang Xueer and took his seat. "Arguing with someone like that is just too draining. Better to focus on rehearsing the 'Clear Origin Technique' in my mind," he thought.

To the onlookers, especially Han Yuxuan, it seemed different. She felt a pang of sympathy for Ling Yifei, who appeared lost in thought. She was convinced that Ling Yifei, coming from an average family, must be deeply hurt by such ridicule.

Realizing she may have gone too far, Jiaang Xueer knew she wouldn't apologize, given her nature, leaving the air tinged with awkwardness. Then, a voice broke the silence from the doorway.

"Xueer, may I take you out for lunch?" Situ Yun, flanked by his two sidekicks, walked in. He spotted Jiaang Xueer and then noticed Ling Yifei.

What's this guy doing here? He's not tailing Xueer, is he? If I find out that's the case, he's done for. Situ Yun clenched his fist in secret, only to relax and approach Jiaang Xueer with a friendly smile.

Upon approaching Jiaang Xueer, she feigned great surprise. "Oh my, if it isn't... Ah, yes! Young Master Ling, what brings you here?"

"My mother enrolled him here," Jiaang Xueer quickly clarified, hoping to prevent any misunderstanding on Situ Yun's part.

"Young Master Ling, this hardly seems like a suitable place for someone who's just had their venue shut down. Perhaps you should head home and work off your debts," Situ Yun taunted, prompting laughter from his two flunkies.

Ling Yifei, who was in the midst of practicing the Clear Origin Technique, didn't miss a single word of the exchange.

Regaining his composure, his gaze fixed on Situ Yun, who suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure—the kind a superior might exert over an insignificant ant. In that moment, Ling Yifei resembled a contented emperor, with Situ Yun as nothing more than a commoner at his mercy.

This oppressive sensation wasn't lost on Situ Yun alone; Jiaang Xueer and Han Yuxuan felt it too. What was once a child seemingly bearing grievances now stood sovereign over all.

"Hehe, it seems flies just can't help buzzing around your head," Ling Yifei said with a sneer, looking at Situ Yun as if he were a simpleton.

Before Situ Yun could retort, one of his henchmen piped up, "Kid, are you asking for trouble? How dare you insult the boss?" Yet Ling Yifei's gaze remained locked on Situ Yun, utterly disregarding the henchman's words.

Shaking off the initial shock, Situ Yun seethed with anger. "He called me a fly! Beat him senseless, and if there's trouble, it's on me," he ordered his lackeys with venom.

The two goons grinned maliciously, seizing the opportunity to strut towards Ling Yifei. "You had a sharp tongue earlier; let's see how you fare now," they taunted.

Ling Yifei, however, wore a dismissive smirk. To him, these two were inconsequential—whether it was two, two hundred, or two thousand made no difference. The gulf between a cultivator and a mere mortal was vast, and these two were closing in on Ling Yifei, oblivious to the true extent of their folly.

"I'll beat you senseless!" An underling lunged forward with a punch, but Ling Yifei effortlessly dodged it. Another underling tried a kick, which he also evaded. It would be ridiculous if he, a cultivator, couldn't avoid such attacks.

However, Ling Yifei couldn't fight back because revealing his identity as a cultivator would cause unnecessary panic. His only option was to keep dodging. Seeing things were turning sour, Han Yuxuan hurried out of the classroom to fetch a teacher.

By the time the teacher arrived, he witnessed two people chasing Ling Yifei around the room. "Stop right there!" Teacher Liu commanded, and the two froze, their faces stricken with terror.

"You three, out here now. And which class do you belong to?" Teacher Liu demanded, pointing at the two who had been attacking Ling Yifei. Once he learned their class, he escorted all three to the Education Office.

Since the incident hadn't led to any serious consequences and Ling Yifei wasn't hurt, the old adage that it takes two to tango applied, and all three were disciplined. The director of the Education Office warned them that any repeat offense would result in being sent home for reflection.

Stepping out of the office, Ling Yifei was seething. To be disciplined on the first day of school was infuriating. If they dared to trouble him again, he'd have to find a secluded spot to deal with them properly.
