C8 This Was Not Adultery
Ling Yifei was at the hospital, having brought the elderly man who had just saved him. The man appeared to be in stable condition, not requiring surgery or admission to the intensive care unit.
He had reported the gang of troublemakers to the police before he left, so they were likely apprehended by now.
"Sign here," a doctor said, barely looking up from the paperwork on his desk before handing another set of documents to Ling Yifei. These papers were the elderly man's medical records.
Ling Yifei explained that he didn't know the man personally, but the doctor insisted he sign anyway. So, he did, leaving his contact number behind. He had intended to check on the old man, but a glance at his phone showed it was already past eight o'clock. It was surprising, considering he had parted ways with his father before noon the previous day. Time had flown by.
What worried him more was the lack of communication from his father. Just yesterday, Ling Yifei had rescued his dad from a life-threatening situation. Could it be that Ling Zhiyu had been taken?
Ling Yifei's location had been compromised, whether due to his own oversight or someone tracking him. The possibility that his father was in danger loomed over him.
The more he dwelled on it, the more anxious he became. He immediately called his father, who, to his relief, was perfectly fine.
"Little Shuo, I'm at your Aunt Ya Xuan's place. You and your sister Xueer should head back here later!"
Ling Yifei was stunned. They were on the run from loan sharks, yet his father seemed unbothered, spending time with his old flame. Meanwhile, Ling Yifei was left to fend off the incoming thugs.
It was all too clear who was the father and who was the son in this scenario.
Pressed for time, Ling Yifei didn't linger to see how the old man was doing and hurried back to the buffet restaurant. It wasn't far, and he made it back swiftly.
But once again, he was intercepted by a waiter.
"Sir..."
With an exasperated roll of his eyes and without waiting for the waiter to finish, Ling Yifei knocked him out with a snap of his fingers and strode confidently into the buffet restaurant.
The restaurant had become noticeably more crowded. When he had left, there had been about twenty to thirty patrons, but now the number seemed to have swelled to around forty or fifty. Chen Tianxing was still there, blending in with the crowd.
Chen Tianxing hadn't noticed Ling Yifei's entrance. However, Ling Yifei could definitely sense the disagreeable presence of this scoundrel.
"Humph, I've got things to do today, so I'll spare you the trouble," Ling Yifei muttered to himself.
He then focused on his Vital Spirit, gauging its level. Beyond the nine stages of cultivation, each stage had its own levels of Vital Spirit, ranging from one to one hundred. The disparity between each stage could be as little as tenfold or as much as ten thousandfold.
At present, his Vital Spirit was at the pinnacle of level one hundred, yet he was unable to achieve any further breakthroughs. He wondered if his inability to ascend was due to his fall from the Upper Immortal Realm, preventing him from overcoming the necessary tribulations to advance.
In addition to the level one hundred Vital Spirit, there was a significant amount of unusable Vital Spirit roaming within him. It was as if his body were a ladle attempting to scoop water from an endless sea, with the water representing the Vital Spirit.
He had enough Vital Spirit to cast a tracking spell. He had placed a locator spell on Chen Tianxing. By simply recalling the spell, he could pinpoint Chen Tianxing's whereabouts at any time, ensuring he wouldn't lose track of him.
With that settled, Ling Yifei set out to locate Jiaang Xueer and the other two companions.
Upon arriving at their previous meeting spot, he only found Liu Susu and a few unfamiliar faces; Jiaang Xueer and Situ Yun were nowhere to be seen.
"Liu Susu, where's Jiaang Xueer?" Ling Yifei inquired immediately.
Liu Susu gave Ling Yifei a brief glance, her demeanor having shifted dramatically. "How should I know?" she retorted with indifference.
After her dismissive response, she turned back to her friends and resumed their animated conversation.
Ling Yifei regarded Liu Susu with contempt, then discreetly flicked a spell into her wine glass. If she drank from it, she would soon be rushing to the restroom with an urgent case of diarrhea.
"Enjoy yourself!" Ling Yifei said with a slight smile to Liu Susu before turning and walking away from their table.
He had barely taken two steps when he heard Liu Susu's pained moan. She abruptly stood up and dashed toward the restroom. But upon reaching the door, she paused, then started crying.
It appeared she hadn't managed to hold it in and had soiled her underwear.
Ling Yifei couldn't help but laugh heartily as he exited the buffet restaurant. He hadn't sensed Situ Yun and Jiaang Xueer inside, so he assumed they had already left.
As expected, when he stepped outside, he immediately saw Situ Yun assisting a seemingly intoxicated Jiaang Xueer into his personal car. Situ Yun appeared to be taking her home.
Ling Yifei had no desire to share a ride with them. Just the thought of Situ Yun and Jiaang Xueer made him feel nauseous. So, he hailed a cab and followed Situ Yun's car. The vehicle headed straight to the outskirts of the commercial district, a hotspot for hotels.
To Ling Yifei's astonishment, Situ Yun helped Jiaang Xueer out of the car and into one of the hotels!
"Bro, are you on a mission to catch a cheater?" the taxi driver asked, taking a drag on his cigarette. "Need a hand? One call from me and I can round up a dozen drivers to back you up."
Ling Yifei chuckled, "No, it's not like that. I thought they were heading home."
"Oh..." The driver nodded with a knowing look. "So, what's the plan now? Do we leave or...?"
Ling Yifei decided to get out and investigate the situation. He might not be fond of Jiaang Xueer, but he couldn't ignore the fact that Situ Yun harbored nefarious intentions toward her. Ling Yifei wasn't about to turn a blind eye to someone in potential danger.
He left the taxi and entered the hotel, tracking the lingering energy of the pair. Ling Yifei made his way to the third floor, certain that they were there. However, the floor was already bustling with many guests.
The hotel was abuzz with the kind of activity that sent waves of intense energy throughout the building, effectively scrambling Ling Yifei's "radar." He was unable to pinpoint the exact location of the two individuals he was searching for.
Left with no other option, he had to check each room individually, though the sensations emanating from behind each door left him feeling quite embarrassed.
Ling Yifei was torn about whether to intervene or not. Recalling Jiang Xueer's previous demeanor and harsh words towards him, he was tempted to walk away. After all, her ultimate fate seemed irrelevant to him.
Yet, she was his father's friend's daughter, and Mrs. Zhao had shown kindness to his father. He couldn't just ignore someone in peril. "Alright, I'll help her just this once," he resolved, channeling his Vital Spirit into his fingertips.
With a swift "Whoosh," he directed a burst of energy at Situ Yun, whose eyes were bloodshot with unbridled desire, resembling a wild beast. His face was beet red, and he was drooling with excitement—a truly revolting sight.
As Situ Yun was about to proceed with his next action, he suddenly blacked out. Seizing the moment, Ling Yifei slipped through the doorway, surveying the chaotic scene with a wry smile.
Jiang Xueer's face was also flushed, prompting Ling Yifei to consider finding a place to safely settle her down. He couldn't possibly take her to Mrs. Zhao in this state.
But as Ling Yifei drew closer to Jiang Xueer, she cried out, "I'm so hot, so hot!" Instantly, he realized that Situ Yun had drugged her, and he cast a disdainful glance at the unconscious man.
