C1 Night Search
Late at night in June, outside the security booth of Yellow County High School.
"Can you help me find him? I really have something urgent to tell him." A girl who was about 18 years old said anxiously.
The security guard looked at the television and did not turn his head. "It's already 11 o'clock. The dormitory is closed. If you want to find him, you can come back tomorrow."
The girl suppressed her anxious emotions and continued to plead with the security guard. "I really have an urgent matter. Please help me."
"Why should I help you?" The security guard turned around and looked at the girl with a smile.
Seeing the security guard's vulgar smile, the girl looked at him in fear. Then she picked up the plastic bag on the ground and turned around to walk west.
The security guard stuck his head out and stared at the girl's back.
Not long after the security guard turned around and looked at the television, a girl's voice came from outside the school's west wall, "Wu Zhongyuan!"
The night was quiet, and the girl's voice was loud.
"It's already midnight. You're shouting. You're too wicked!" The security guard heard the noise and hurriedly ran out with a rubber stick to chase her away. "Get lost."
Seeing the security guard rush over, the girl could only run west. At the same time, she continued to shout loudly, "Wu Zhongyuan, something happened at home. Come out quickly."
How could this girl outrun the security guard? She didn't run far before the security guard caught up to her. The security guard pulled the girl and said, "Stop shouting. You'll affect the rest of the students."
"Let go of me. What are you doing?" The girl was furious. She struggled with all her might.
The security took this opportunity to touch the girl's body.
The girl was anxious and angry, and as she struggled, she shouted even louder.
Suddenly, the girl stopped shouting and struggling. She tilted her head and looked to the east.
The security guard noticed that something was wrong, so he turned his head as well. However, just as he turned his head around, he realized that someone was about to attack him. Before he could react, he was hit by a fist, and then he fell to the ground.
The person who hit him was a young man about seventeen years old. He was not tall and was very thin. After he knocked down the security guard, he ignored him and walked quickly to the girl. "Huang Ping, what happened?"
"It was about the house being demolished." Huang Ping raised her hand to wipe her sweat and said, "You guys never go back to sign and delay those people's work. That group of people reported you guys."
"We didn't break the law, how are they going to report us?" Wu Zhongyuan asked.
The security guard who had been beaten up had come back to his senses. He was flustered and exasperated. He covered his face with one hand and held a stick with the other. He rushed forward and wanted to hit Wu Zhongyuan.
Wu Zhongyuan raised his right leg and kicked him down again. "Scram to the side."
The security guard had no strength left. He could only climb up in a sorry state and hide to the east. He said angrily, "I know your name. Your name is Wu Zhongyuan. Just you wait."
Wu Zhongyuan did not pay attention to him. He only looked at Huang Ping. "What did the developer report us for?"
"I want to call the police." The security guard was still shouting.
Wu Zhongyuan ignored him and stared at Huang Ping, waiting for her to speak.
Huang Ping raised her hand to wipe her sweat, "I also don't know how those people knew that after your Daoist priest Master died, he was buried in the soil. They reported this matter. When I left the village in the evening, I saw that the excavators had already gone to the foot of the mountain. I went to ask the driver. He said that the town sent him. When the sun rises, they will go up the mountain and cremate your master."
After Huang Ping finished speaking, Wu Zhongyuan took a deep breath. "Really?"
Huang Ping nodded, "That's what the driver said. They found out that you guys did not move because your master's grave was beside your house. So this time, they plan to dig up the grave directly and force you guys to move."
Wu Zhongyuan looked up at the sky and then said to Huang Ping," Thank you. Go back quickly. I will go back to the village to take a look. "
"It is so late. There are no buses anymore." Huang Ping put down the plastic bag in her hand and took out 100 yuan from her pocket and handed it to Wu Zhongyuan. " This is for you. You can take a taxi back. This money might not be enough. When you reach town, you can walk back."
"No need, I have money." Wu Zhongyuan waved his hand and turned to walk south. "Let's go. I'll send you to a place with street lamps."
Huang Ping picked up the plastic bag and quickly followed Wu Zhongyuan. She handed the 100 yuan to Wu Zhongyuan and said, "Take it."
"I really have money." Wu Zhongyuan stopped walking. He turned around and looked at the school. After a short hesitation, he turned around and continued walking forward.
"Don't you need to ask for leave from the teacher?" Huang Ping asked.
"It's already so late. The teachers must be resting." Wu Zhongyuan shook his head.
Huang Ping followed behind him. "Before I came to find you, I called the mine. Your brother is still in the mine. I can't contact him."
"He got off work at 12 o'clock." Wu Zhongyuan strode forward. "You can call him when the time comes. This matter is too serious. I'm afraid I can't solve it myself."
"Okay." Huang Ping agreed.
"After 12 o'clock, the street lights were extinguished. Don't use the public phone outside, it's not safe. Go back to the factory and borrow someone else's phone to call him." Wu Zhongyuan reminded Huang Ping.
"Okay." Huang Ping agreed.
"How is your father's illness?" Wu Zhongyuan asked casually.
"His illness is still the same as before." Huang Ping replied.
"What about your silly brother? Has he gotten into any trouble recently?" Wu Zhongyuan asked.
Huang Ping's mood became even more downcast. She said, "No. However, a few days ago, he was pushed into the pond in the west of the village. He almost drowned. When he was asked who did this, he could not tell. My dad was afraid that something would happen to him if he ran around, so he tied him to the millstone."
" This is not a good idea. "Wu Zhongyuan shook his head, then asked," By the way, how are you and my brother doing recently? "
Huang Ping sighed, "Qingming has been in high school, and I haven't even been to middle school. We don't have a common topic."
"He is not good at talking." Wu Zhongyuan comforted Huang Ping. Huang Ping was beautiful and kind. Unfortunately, her family was poor. That was why she did not study much and was not educated. Although she liked Lin Qingming very much, Lin Qingming still did not like her.
Huang Ping lowered her head and did not say anything.
A few minutes later, they reached the intersection. Wu Zhongyuan had to continue heading south, and Huang Ping had to turn east.
"I have pancakes here. Do you need some?" Huang Ping lifted the plastic bag in her right hand.
"No need. I am not hungry. Go back quickly." Wu Zhongyuan waved his hand at Huang Ping and ran towards the south.
Half an hour later, Wu Zhongyuan reached the south of the city. He sat down on the side of the road. He didn't have the money to take a taxi, so he could only wait for the passing truck to give him a ride.
Not long after he waited, a truck carrying dirt came from the north. He ran a few steps and jumped onto the truck. He found a place to sit on the pile of dirt.
The truck was more than three meters tall, and it was moving. Ordinary people naturally wouldn't be able to do what he just did. And the reason why he was able to do it was because he was good at kung fu. His master was originally a wandering Daoist priest. Later on, he got older and his body became worse, so he stayed in Huang Village.
He was 18 years old this year. His senior brother, Lin Qingming, was three years older than him. Both of them were orphans adopted by their master in his later years. When their master was still alive, the three of them had always lived on the hill in the east of the village. There were a few old houses there, they were abandoned water supply stations. Their master bought this place and made it their residence.
However, although their master was a Daoist priest, he rarely wore Daoist robes. He usually kept a low profile, and not many people knew that he was a Daoist priest. He had two kung fu, the Hard Qigong and the Qing Kung. When he was alive, he had taught them to Wu Zhongyuan and Lin Qingming. These two kung fus were similar to what the world knew. The Hard Qigong could increase a martial artist's strength and defense. The Qing Kung could make a martial artist's body light, but it could not make a martial artist fly. Even if a warrior cultivated the Qing Kung to the extreme, he would still fall to his death if he jumped down from a building that was more than ten floors high.
Even though these two kung fus were not mysterious, their master also strictly warned them not to use the kung fu in front of others. The reason was that it was easy to attract trouble.
Apart from this, their master also knew how to draw talismans and understand Feng Shui. However, he didn't teach these to the two of them. The two of them were very interested in these and had once pestered him to ask for guidance. But he wasn't willing to teach them. He said that these were all feudal superstitious and not trustworthy. He also said that if others found out that they knew these things, people would see them as demons.
Five years ago, their master died. Before he died, he chose his own grave for himself. It was not far from the east side of the house. He had always abided by the law when he was alive, but before his death, he did something illegal. He knew that the law now demanded that people must be cremated after death, but he secretly built a coffin and told them to bury him. He said that he cultivated for a lifetime and wanted to leave a complete corpse behind.
On the way back, Wu Zhongyuan had been thinking about this. The law stated that after a person died, they had to be cremated, and every citizen had to abide by it. Now that this matter had been exposed, they would definitely be punished.
But his master raised him and his senior brother, and they owe him a favor. No matter what, he had to help him fulfill his final wish.
After thinking about it, the only feasible way was to secretly bury his master somewhere else. Although it was disrespectful to his master, it was still better than cremation.
Along the way, the truck turned around and drove in a different direction from his destination. He jumped off the truck and waited by the road for about ten minutes. Another truck came. Most of the trucks that were rushing at night were overloaded, so they didn't run fast. He jumped into the new truck.
It was already four o'clock when he arrived in town. There were no cars passing by, so he could only run back to the village. He arrived at the village at five o'clock. Sure enough, he found an excavator parked at the entrance of the village.
He looked around and found that there was no one around. He jumped onto the excavator and forcefully opened the lid of the gas tank. He picked up some sand from the ground and sprinkled it into the gas tank before twisting the cap again.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something. He jumped onto the excavator again, and used his sleeve to wipe the lid of the gas tank. If this excavator broke, repairing it would cost a lot of money. He didn't have that much money, so he couldn't leave his fingerprints behind.
After finishing all this, he went up the mountain. He wanted to go home, but after thinking about it, he decided not to. He picked a few apricots from the back of the house and walked towards the forest in the east.
This was the only thing he could do right now. He would try his best to stall for time and wait for his senior brother to return.
