C5 Lau Ruyan!

After stepping off campus, Faang Han was certain that Chen Xueli was acting under Ma Hui's orders.

"Ma family, just wait. This isn't over. I'll make sure you learn the true meaning of despair," Faang Han said with a cold laugh.

He didn't linger at the school; instead, he made his way to the renowned Tiansheng Pharmacy in Zhonghai City to purchase some medicinal herbs.

Tiansheng Pharmacy was expansive, boasting the most comprehensive selection of medicinal herbs in the city. Anything available on the market could be found there.

Upon reaching the entrance, Faang Han was greeted by a rich aroma of medicinal herbs.

"All wild herbs, and the quality is decent. No artificial cultivation or counterfeits. Impressive."

Faang Han could gauge the quality of the herbs simply by their scent, confirming their exceptional rarity.

In his past life, he wouldn't have given these herbs a second glance. But now, with his strength not yet fully restored, he had to use them to enhance his abilities.

Inside the pharmacy, Faang Han checked the prices of the herbs, which were a bit above market rate, yet genuine.

"The money from my mother will only cover one prescription. I'll need to find a way to earn more," Faang Han mused.

As the foremost among the Nine Devil Monarchs of the Devil Realm, even with diminished strength, acquiring money was a trivial matter. He could easily concoct some medicine pills to fortify mortals, which would sell out instantly.

He took his time selecting and packaging the herbs he needed.

"Excuse me, do you carry any wild ginseng that's over thirty years old?" Faang Han inquired.

"We have plenty of ginseng, all clearly priced," the pharmacy clerk responded promptly.

"I'm looking for wild ginseng. Tiansheng Pharmacy prides itself on being the largest in Zhonghai City. Surely you have some," Faang Han pressed.

The clerk, who took great pride in his affiliation with Tiansheng Pharmacy, was not one to easily accept any insinuation that they were lacking.

"Of course we have it. Our boss possesses a fifty-year-old wild ginseng, but if you're interested in purchasing it, you'll need to negotiate with the boss directly," the assistant explained.

"Take me to your boss," Faang Han requested.

Eager to maintain his dignity, the assistant promptly led the way through the pharmacy courtyard, quickly arriving at the backyard.

In a quaint pavilion, an elderly man dressed in traditional attire was attending to a young girl's medical needs, while an older gentleman in a Chinese tunic suit sat by her side. Faang Han couldn't help but smile upon recognizing the girl; the world was indeed small, for he had stumbled upon Lau Ruyan, the most admired beauty of his school.

"The one in the traditional attire is our boss. He cherishes that wild ginseng as if it were a treasure. Whether you can secure it from him will depend on your skills," the assistant informed him.

Faang Han nodded, and together they approached the pavilion.

At that moment, the traditionally attired elder retrieved a small box from his pocket. Upon opening it, a brown medicine pill was revealed, exuding a potent herbal aroma.

"The frigid poison in Ruyan's body has intensified. This medicine I've prepared should protect you from its effects for the next three months," the elder said.

"Thank you, Grandpa Zhang," Lau Ruyan expressed her gratitude.

"I've been friends with your grandfather for many years; this is the least I can do," the elder replied with a warm smile, handing the medicine pill to Lau Ruyan.

"Old Zhang, I am deeply grateful for your care of my granddaughter. I won't forget this kindness," Elder Lau said with appreciation.

"Had it not been for your heroism on the battlefield saving my life, I wouldn't be here today. Ruyan is as much my granddaughter as she is yours," Dr. Zhang responded with a chuckle.

"Ruyan, go ahead and take the medicine. You won't have to endure the frigid poison's affliction for the next three months," Elder Lau urged.

Lau Ruyan nodded, accepting the glass of water from her grandfather. As she was about to swallow the medicine pill, a chilling voice interrupted the moment.

"If you take that medicine, you'll die!"

Everyone present turned toward the source of the outcry, with the traditional attired old man shaking with rage.

"Who are you?" the old man demanded, pointing at Faang Han.

"His name is Faang Han, a student from our school and an ordinary member of the Faang family," Lau Ruyan explained.

Faang Han was infamous throughout the school for being a sycophant, and Lau Ruyan was surprised to encounter him here.

"How dare a mere youth from the Faang family spout such alarming nonsense here? I, Zhang Youfa, have been in the field of traditional medicine for decades, saving countless lives. You, an ignorant youngster, dare to claim my medicine pill is harmful. What are your motives?"

Dr. Zhang scolded furiously, "Moreover, you don't even know the composition of my medicine pill. How dare you make such bold claims!"

"Alum, castor bean, realgar, ginger juice, Atractylodes, Plantago Seed..."

Faang Han listed off the names of the herbs one by one, causing the traditional attired old man's face to pale.

"Where did you learn my prescription? Speak up now, or you'll face imprisonment!" Dr. Zhang threatened sternly.

"It's not that hard to figure out. Just by smelling the medicine pill, one can discern the ingredients. But let's set aside your subpar preparation skills; your understanding of pharmacology is flawed. This medicine will endanger his life!" Faang Han retorted.

"You... You're spouting rubbish!"

Dr. Zhang's face turned beet red with anger. It was the first time in decades he had resorted to insults, a lapse in decorum driven by Faang Han's provocation.

"Faang Han, stop this nonsense. Grandpa Zhang is a renowned figure in traditional medicine, a true master in the medical community. His concoctions couldn't possibly be flawed. Apologize to Grandpa Zhang at once," Lau Ruyan urged.

Though Lau Ruyan wasn't well-acquainted with Faang Han, they shared a school and she couldn't stand by and watch him risk imprisonment.

"He crafted this pill with the intention of suppressing the frigid poison within your body, but he overlooked a crucial detail. Every person's body is unique, and yours happens to be allergic to Plantago Seed. Consuming it will be fatal, beyond the help of any deity," Faang Han explained.

"Impossible! I've never heard of anyone being allergic to Plantago seeds!" Dr. Zhang exclaimed in outrage.

"Lau Ruyan's constitution is unique. If you doubt me, extend your arm and rub the medicine pill on it with some force, and you'll see for yourself," Faang Han suggested.

Dr. Zhang, who was beside himself with anger, was insistent that Lau Ruyan try it. If she wasn't allergic, he was ready to apprehend her on the spot for stealing the prescription and defaming someone's reputation. Given his stature as a renowned master in traditional medicine, countless influential figures in law enforcement owed him favors. Faang Han wouldn't stand a chance of clearing his name.

Despite her desire to assist Faang Han, Lau Ruyan couldn't withstand Dr. Zhang's persistent prodding. She applied the medicine pill to her pristine arm.

Within moments, a cluster of tiny red bumps emerged on Lau Ruyan's arm.

"This... This can't be! It's impossible!" Dr. Zhang gasped, collapsing to the ground in disbelief.

Both Elder Lau and Lau Ruyan turned to Faang Han, their eyes wide with astonishment.
