C15 Calm down
Before Lyi Banruo descended the stairs, her bodyguard had already swung open the car door for her. The motorcade was nothing short of opulent, with a Land Rover at the helm, Lyi Banruo's Porsche at the center, and a sleek black business vehicle bringing up the rear. The two vehicles flanked Lyi Banruo's car, providing comprehensive protection.
Tang Ye accompanied Lyi Banruo to her car and opened the passenger side door, poised to get in.
"Where's your car?" Lyi Banruo asked with a hint of contempt.
Tang Ye shrugged. "Why not ride in style if the option's there? If it bothers you, I can always hail a cab."
"Forget it. We're over ten kilometers from the office. You'd arrive after nightfall," Lyi Banruo conceded. "Stop dawdling and get behind the wheel."
Tang Ye obliged, sliding into the driver's seat with practiced ease. The trio of cars then made their way out of Serene Way.
"Now can we talk? Who's the mole in my company?" Lyi Banruo pressed.
"Patience, Director Lyi," Tang Ye soothed.
Lyi Banruo fixed Tang Ye with a fierce glare. "Are you trying to pull a fast one on me?"
"There's a saying: 'Haste does not bring success,'" Tang Ye remarked, giving Lyi Banruo's hand a reassuring pat. "Before we get to the heart of the matter, shall we discuss terms?"
"What are you after?" Lyi Banruo inquired, ready to negotiate. She was prepared to invest heavily if it meant safeguarding her company's interests.
"Just a reminder, you'd better have the information I want," Tang Ye warned.
"Do you really think I'm here just to flirt with a woman as charmless as you?" Tang Ye stated flatly.
Lyi Banruo's face grew even colder. She lacked the traditional allure of a woman and saw no need for it.
"Out with your conditions then. If you're looking to use me against the Shen family, I'm on board. But the depth of their downfall will hinge on what you can offer me."
"The Shen family is already teetering on the brink of ruin. Even without my intervention, they're headed for disaster. I've heard that when Yaodong approached them, he had already brokered deals on how to carve up their assets."
Lyi Banruo arched an eyebrow, casting a somewhat surprised glance at Tang Ye.
Did he really know all about it?
"The Shen family is banking on Shao Yaodong for a comeback. By then, you, as the ex-wife, might end up being swindled out of everything," Lyi Banruo remarked.
Tang Ye remained silent, his attention fixed on driving.
Would he be swayed if Shen Chuxue pleaded with him?
Lyi Banruo cleared her throat to break the silence, laying out her offer: "I'm in need of a personal assistant. I'll pay you a monthly salary of 100,000 yuan. You'll have free access throughout the company and can manage your own work hours. This is the most freedom I can offer you. However, I do have one condition: you need to identify the company's mole within two days."
"No need for two days."
Lyi Banruo was startled. With over 180 employees in her company, could it really be possible to pinpoint the mole in just one day?
But she quickly regained her composure, adding, "Finding them within a day would be ideal. Once the job is done, I'll transfer 10 million dollars to your account."
"The money isn't important," Tang Ye said, one hand on the wheel as he leaned toward Lyi Banruo with a smile. "The privilege of working with Director Lyi every day is honor enough. If I could just—"
"Don't even entertain the thought!"
Even thinking it was a crime!
Lyi Banruo's demeanor was icy, yet her heart raced, her breath brushing Tang Ye's face with a subtle scent.
"Nice choice of lipstick," Tang Ye chuckled before turning back to focus on the road.
Lyi Banruo felt played!
For a brief moment, her breathing had quickened, and Tang Ye's expression made it clear he was deliberately flirting with her!
Lyi Banruo bit out a warning, "You'd better keep it in check. Don't assume I can't take you down a peg!"
"You're the boss; your word is law."
After navigating the intersection at the traffic light, the red sports car pulled up in front of the BioAesthetics Building less than a kilometer down the road. Sally deftly opened the door for Lyi Banruo, took her coat, and seized the moment to shoot Tang Ye a glance.
Tang Ye's piercing gaze haunted his thoughts. He tossed the keys to the security guard and hurried to catch up with the two people ahead of him.
As they walked, Lyi Banruo gave her instructions, "Sally, this is Tang Ye. Starting today, he's my personal assistant. Set up an office for him next to mine. Give him the keys to my house, his employee card, and take care of any other necessary arrangements."
"Understood, Director Lyi."
When they reached the elevator, Sally held Tang Ye back. "Mr. Tang, let's get your photo taken for the employee card, and there are some forms to fill out."
Lyi Banruo, standing in the elevator, reminded Tang Ye, "Get your affairs in order quickly. Don't forget the time we agreed upon."
"I'm on it," Tang Ye replied, meeting Lyi Banruo's icy stare with a flirtatious wink.
"It's no wonder so many are bold enough to pursue you, yet few dare to commit."
Sally stole glances at Tang Ye as they walked. He seemed utterly oblivious, looking around with a carefree air.
"Do I have something on my face?" Tang Ye finally asked, grinning at Sally. "Is it because I'm good-looking? While that may be true, you can't be too infatuated with me. Banruo isn't the most patient, and I wouldn't want to upset her."
Sally cleared her throat and said with a neutral expression, "You certainly carry yourself with confidence, Mr. Tang, to have Director Lyi personally invite you so early."
"I'm an affable guy, and my main interest is in fostering friendships, particularly with charming women," Tang Ye remarked with a meaningful look at Sally.
"You're not worried about upsetting Director Lyi?" Sally quipped.
"One shouldn't indulge a woman too much. If she gets upset over a couple of friendships, how will we manage to coexist?" Tang Ye boasted. "Don't worry, you still have a shot. Your temperament is leagues better than your boss's."
"Zhang, come here and take a photo of Mr. Tang, and bring another set of items," Sally called to a slender young man.
The young man escorted Tang Ye into the registration room. Before closing the door, Tang Ye sent Sally a flirtatious wink.
Once the door to the registration room was shut, the smile on Sally's face turned icy. She stepped out to the stairwell, quickly checked to make sure no one was around, and then made a phone call.
"Boss, I've encountered Tang Ye."
"And? How did it go?"
"He's nothing but a playboy. I've handled my fair share of losers like him before. I'm not sure where he's getting his information, but he doesn't seem like much of a threat."
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, followed by a cool inquiry, "So, you're confident you can take care of him?"
