C16 Ye Fann Was Sold

The notorious Eight-armed Yama didn't earn his name through bluster; it was carved out with bloodshed.

Yang Hao's eight brothers, two sons, and seven nephews all perished by the merciless hand of Eight-armed Yama.

Bi Dadan, known as the Eight-armed Yama, didn't literally have eight limbs. Rather, for each of Yang Hao's brothers he killed, he would sever an arm, preserving it as a trophy of war.

The gruesome deaths of Yang Hao's eight brothers, each missing an arm, gave rise to the chilling moniker of the Eight-armed Yama.

Since the days of the Republic of China, the Yangs and the Bis have been locked in a bitter feud. By this generation, the Yangs had been utterly defeated.

Yang Min was indeed the last of the Yang lineage. After much internal conflict, Yang Hao resolved to retire, vowing to leave the life of strife behind.

But unbeknownst to him, Yang Min sought out Bi Dadan's son, Bi Wenfeng, of her own accord, determined to carve a path of vengeance for her father.

In a sudden outburst, Yang Hao's hand cracked against Yang Min's cheek as he bellowed, "Kneel down! Kneel!"

Collapsing to her knees, Yang Min's defiance blazed. "The blood feud for my father's death cannot be shared under heaven. I must..."

"Silence!" Yang Hao's roar thundered as he grabbed a stool, poised to hurl it at Yang Min.

Ye Fann intervened hastily. "What are you thinking? You're ready to forsake your last granddaughter?"

"I'd rather end her life myself than watch her wade into this quagmire. Do you know how her father died? How her brothers, uncles, and grandfathers met their ends? Ye Fann, you've witnessed it firsthand. Don't pretend ignorance!"

Ye Fann rubbed his temples, exasperated. He knew the history, had seen it unfold, but what did it have to do with him?

"Enough kneeling. Go downstairs, buy that coffee shop. Three hundred thousand, not a penny less," Ye Fann said, shoving Yang Min towards the door. "Hurry up, what are you dawdling for?"

Then, Ye Fann pulled Yang Hao to a seat, filled their glasses, and said, "Here, let's drink. Let's continue to drink. Today, I..."

"Why are you exploiting this situation for that three hundred thousand?"

"I... I'm trying to prevent you from making a mistake, to keep you from killing off the last of the Yang bloodline."

"Then forget about the three hundred thousand."

"No way, I can't part with a single cent of that three hundred thousand; it's urgent."

Yang Hao snatched up the bottle and guzzled it down. After a swig, he shot a look at Ye Fann, "You're such a hypocrite."

"I..."

"What are you standing around for? Get moving, and don't you dare short me on the three hundred thousand!" Yang Hao suddenly roared at Yang Min.

After his outburst, Yang Hao and Ye Fann settled into their drinks, carrying on into the night.

Chilled by the night air, Ye Fann staggered out of the café and collapsed, vomiting on the ground.

At the entrance, Ye Jing rushed to Ye Fann's aid.

A Porsche raced up and screeched to a halt before them, the window rolling down as Yang Min called from inside, "Get in."

No sooner had Ye Fann gotten into the car than he vomited again.

With gritted teeth and frustration written all over her face, Yang Min couldn't lash out; Ye Fann had passed out cold after his bout of sickness.

"Sister Min, I... Should I get in too?" Ye Jing inquired from the car door.

"What a silly question. You think you're going to run along behind us?"

"I live close by."

Exasperated, Yang Min retorted, "I can't carry him alone, got it?"

"Oh, right. I'll help you take him back."

In the dead of night, Yang Min, Ye Jing, and Huang Xinying struggled mightily to finally get Ye Fann... into the residential complex and then into the Huang household.

Upon their arrival, Huang Yong watched with a cold gaze.

Yang Min shot him a look, "Can't you lend a hand?"

"Does he deserve it? If my sister wasn't outside, I wouldn't have even opened the door."

Hearing this, Yang Min instantly released her hold, and Ye Fann thudded to the ground.

In a flash, Yang Min slapped Huang Yong across the face.

"What are you doing? How dare you hit my son in my own home?" Wang Ying bellowed.

Yang Min sneered and pointed at Ye Fann, "If it weren't for him today, without that three hundred thousand, you'd be forced to sell your house and sleep on the streets. And now, you have the audacity to question his worthiness?"

"He's a spineless fool who doesn't deserve to set foot in the Huang family's home. What about it?" Wang Ying barked fiercely.

Just then, Ye Fann stirred awake. Yang Min had abruptly released his hand, jolting him into consciousness.

"How are you feeling? Need some water?" Huang Xinying asked with concern brimming in her eyes.

Ye Fann shook his head slowly and, with Huang Xinying's support, tried to rise. He hadn't steadied himself when he vomited again—

Directly onto Wang Ying.

Wang Ying was dumbfounded.

No sooner had Ye Fann finished vomiting than he collapsed once more, lapsing back into unconsciousness.

"See that? Even a drunk can't stand the sight of you without throwing up," Yang Min remarked coolly.

"I... I..." Wang Ying was livid, her roar building as she prepared to lunge at Yang Min.

Suddenly, Ye Jing pushed Huang Yong forward, who collided with Wang Ying.

Before Wang Ying and Huang Yong could gather their wits, Yang Min had already whisked Ye Jing out the door, parting with the words, "We're leaving. I refuse to waste my time arguing with such a country bumpkin. It's bad luck."

Country bumpkin? Had Huang Yong not held her back, Wang Ying would have charged out after Yang Min in a fury.

But instead, Wang Ying dragged Ye Fann out of the house.

With Huang Yong pulling Huang Xinying aside, Wang Ying managed to haul Ye Fann out on her own. Once the door was shut, all was settled.

"Mom, what are you doing? You can't do this to Ye Fann, he..." Huang Xinying was so distressed she started to cry.

"Shut up!" Wang Ying snapped. "What about him? Is that three hundred thousand his? It's rightfully ours. He just tagged along with my son. And what's with that reek of alcohol? Look at me, covered in vomit, absolutely disgusting."

With that, Wang Ying grabbed the keys, locked the door, and confiscated Huang Xinying's keys, stashing them in her own room. "We've never had a drunkard in this house. If he dares to get this wasted, he can't blame me for turning my back on him. He's not getting back in here until he sobers up!"

Late into the night, a chilling wind howled outside the window.

Wang Ying and Huang Yong had already retired to their rooms to sleep.

Huang Xinying sat by the door, her eyes brimming with tears, crying until her voice was hoarse.

She couldn't fathom why things had turned out this way.

Hadn't Ye Fann recovered the three hundred thousand yuan? Hadn't he resolved a major issue for the family? Why would her mother and brother still act this way?

As dawn approached, Huang Xinying's eyes were bloodshot, her sobs fading as she leaned against the door, succumbing to sleepiness.

Outside, a group silently approached and whisked Ye Fann away.

Come morning, Ye Fann was jolted awake by a splash of cold water.

He found himself bound to a chair.

Before him stood Chung Dafu, his face twisted in a menacing grin. "Brother Ye, we meet again."

Ye Fann's head spun, the effects of the alcohol lingering. It took him a moment to clear his head and recognize the portly man before him.

It was the same man who had conspired with Huang Yong to defile Huang Xinying, whom Ye Fann had incapacitated with a forceful kick.

Clearly, he had come for vengeance.

"May I ask you one question?" Ye Fann said, his voice steady as he quickly assessed the situation.

Chung Dafu, leisurely and unhurried, replied, "Go ahead. Today, I assure you, I'll answer any question before your demise."

"How did I end up in your clutches?"

"Oh, that? Heh, for that, I owe a debt of gratitude to Brother Huang. Had he not tipped me off last night about you lying unconscious outside your home, I honestly wouldn't have known how to get you here and tie you up."

Huang Yong!

Ye Fann gazed at the ceiling and let out a laugh.

The world was full of ungrateful people, indeed.

Truly remarkable.
