C8 Wang Ying Was Humiliated

Yang Min had just dropped off Ye Fann and Huang Xinying at the entrance of their residential complex when she instructed her driver to make a beeline for the Huang Mansion in the Central District.

The Huang family patriarch was throwing a lavish banquet in honor of his eldest granddaughter, Huang Xiaoshan, who had just returned from a secretive military training. The crème de la crème of society was invited, including Yang Min.

But, to her dismay, the invitation was nowhere to be found.

At the mansion's entrance, a team of bodyguards stood at strict intervals, creating an impenetrable security grid. Without an invitation, entry was strictly forbidden.

In the midst of her growing panic, Yang Min caught sight of that scoundrel Ye Fann stepping out of a taxi.

What on earth was he doing here?

Wang Ying, with a stormy demeanor, dragged Ye Fann toward the entrance, only to be halted by the bodyguards. She bellowed, "What's the meaning of this? Do you have any idea who I am? Take a good look!"

The bodyguard was taken aback by her outburst.

The head bodyguard approached with a furrowed brow. "It doesn't matter who you are. The old master's orders are clear: no invitation, no entry. Not even if you were the Jade Emperor himself!"

Wang Ying's face turned a shade of iron, her teeth nearly grinding to dust. Was she really being denied entry at the gate?

In the midst of the tense silence, Ye Fann produced a beautifully crafted invitation. "Perhaps you're looking for this?"

The head bodyguard's expression shifted from shock to suspicion as he examined the invitation and then eyed Ye Fann. "You are... Ms. Yang Min?"

"Are family members not allowed?" Ye Fann retorted.

"Family members?" The bodyguard's gaze shifted to Wang Ying. "Then, are you Ms. Yang Min?"

The bodyguard captain was clearly puzzled. This matronly figure should be listed as Mrs. Yang Min, not Ms. What was going on?

Just then, Yang Min herself arrived, effortlessly looping her arm through Ye Fann's. "I'm Yang Min, and this is my husband. I asked them to bring the invitation ahead while I took a call. Is there a problem?"

"Of... Of course not," the bodyguard captain replied, though his doubts lingered. He signaled his team to discreetly verify Yang Min's identity with a photo.

The results came in swiftly, confirming it was indeed Yang Min.

The bodyguard captain stepped aside, "My apologies, please come in!"

"Thank you," Yang Min replied, linking arms with Ye Fann as they stepped through the doorway. She paused briefly, turning to address Wang Ying, who stood there, teeth clenched in frustration. "Are you coming in with us to gain some experience, or would you rather head back home to do your grocery shopping and cooking?"

"Damn, she's just a nanny. Shit, I thought she was someone with a real temper," a nearby bodyguard muttered under his breath.

"Protect your mother's head!" Wang Ying exploded at the bodyguard, her fury carrying her past Ye Fann and Yang Min and into the building.

The bodyguard and his companions were left dumbstruck.

Yang Min chuckled dismissively, shaking her head at the uncouth behavior. "A country woman who doesn't recognize a good deed."

As they walked toward the villa, Yang Min, without breaking stride, commented coolly, "Stealing my invitation, have you no shame?"

Ye Fann glanced at the hand still on his arm. "Picking up your invitation was incidental, but you holding onto me is quite deliberate. Time to let go, don't you think?"

Yang Min's brows knitted, her teeth set on edge. "Do you feel shortchanged?"

"I stand as an equal to the leader of the Sky Wolf Family. Because of you, I'll have to address him as 'uncle' later. How is that not a loss?"

"You..." Yang Min's voice trailed off as her anger faded, and she turned to lock eyes with Ye Fann. "Just who are you, exactly? How do you know the head of the Heavenly Wolf Family, and on such equal terms?"

Ahead, Wang Ying spun around and stormed back toward them.

She arrived in a fury, yanking Yang Min's hand from Ye Fann's arm. "Show some respect, you harlot. Don't go around flirting with men in broad daylight, making yourself look like a desperate tramp!"

Stunned briefly by the accusation, Yang Min's expression quickly turned to scorn. With a swift motion, she slapped Wang Ying squarely across the face.

Wang Ying was dumbfounded.

Huang Shihao and Ye Fann, standing nearby, were equally taken aback.

Yang Min dragged Ye Fann closer, clutching his arm. "Who says a floozy can't find suitors? What do you know about the market, you old hag with a face full of wrinkles?"

Wang Ying, her face creased with lines, felt her anger surge once more.

Yang Min, however, was relentless, fanning the flames. "Haven't you and your spouse been sleeping in separate rooms for decades? You're an old fool, meddling in affairs that don't concern you. You're practically one foot in the grave, yet you think you have a line of men at your back? What a joke! Scram!"

For some reason, when Yang Min had previously berated Huang Xinying and Ye Fann, he had instantly slapped her. But now, he strangely felt no urge to intervene.

Maybe it was the intense sun, the oppressive heat? Ye Fann glanced skyward. Yep, it was definitely scorching today.

"I've had it with you, you harlot!" Wang Ying erupted, charging at Yang Min like a woman possessed.

Yang Min's driver stepped in swiftly, blocking Wang Ying's path, his fist poised to strike.

At last, Ye Fann acted, seizing the driver's fist, his voice icy, "Enough."

His words seemed directed at both the driver and Wang Ying.

Regardless, Wang Ying got the message, screaming at Ye Fann, "What's this betrayal? What do you mean, 'enough'? Didn't you hear the venom this woman spewed?"

Another sharp slap rang out as Yang Min struck Wang Ying's face once more.

Ye Fann, with a furrowed brow, turned to Yang Min, who casually dusted off her hands. "Enough, I can't be bothered to squabble with you," she dismissed.

With that, Yang Min and her driver strode away.

Slap—

Wang Ying, in a sudden outburst, slapped Ye Fann. "Get out, you cur! That vixen's left—chase after her, why don't you? Why the hell are you still here, shamelessly clinging to our family?!"

"Useless!"

"Backstabber!"

Wang Ying continued her tirade, her insults lingering long in the air.

Onlookers couldn't stand it anymore.

A young woman approached and said calmly, "Auntie, you really should work on that temper of yours. If the old man catches you, you're likely to end up punished just like last time."

Wang Ying was still processing the situation when Huang Shihao's face brightened. "You, you're Xiaoshan?"

With a smile and clear eyes, the girl looked at Huang Shihao. "Uncle, I've been standing right here for quite a while before you noticed me."

"I... I just didn't..." Overwhelmed, Huang Shihao found himself at a loss for words.

Years had passed, and the once little girl had blossomed into a poised and elegant young woman.

"Huh? Where did Ye Fann go?" Huang Xiaoshan suddenly furrowed her brow.

Ye Fann had just been there, and now he was nowhere to be seen.

"Why bother with that loser? Better off dead and out of sight," Wang Ying spat out, still seething with anger.

But Huang Shihao sensed something amiss. "Xiaoshan, do you know Ye Fann?"

Ye Fann had married into their family, marrying Xinying just a year prior, yet they hadn't seen Huang Xiaoshan in at least four years. It stood to reason that she shouldn't know Ye Fann, let alone mention his name so casually.

To his surprise, Huang Xiaoshan smiled enigmatically, scanning the area for Ye Fann as she whispered, "Know him? Oh yes, I've known him for a very long time, many, many years."
