C14 Undefeatable will
Chen Yuan rose to his feet once more.
Just as the sun inevitably ascends after the passing of night.
He was not the sun, yet his eyes blazed red, like two brilliant new suns!
The Vast Sea Nation had fallen, and as its sole survivor, Chen Yuan had been living a life of concealment and anonymity. He harbored no grand ambitions of restoring his nation; his sole desire was to preserve the last vestige of the Vast Sea Nation's lineage.
But now, with his identity revealed and his life hanging by a thread,
Chen Yuan suddenly realized he had nothing left to lose.
He no longer needed to skulk in the shadows, to tread lightly burdened with fear, or to ponder the risks of discovery, capture, or death. Those concerns were now irrelevant.
With his fears materialized, Chen Yuan found an unexpected sense of ease. He could now scream his innermost feelings with wild abandon!
Yu Bai likely never anticipated the ripple effect his actions would cause. The shift in Chen Yuan's mindset had led him to a revelation that had long eluded him.
He needed a purpose to live for.
This purpose was not about mere survival, nor about living solely as a scion of the Vast Sea Nation.
Chen Yuan believed he should live a life of greater significance, akin to the nobles and warriors who indulged in lavish feasts within palace walls and debated with reckless abandon, engaging in ruthless conquests.
Why shouldn't he?
Why shouldn't the Vast Sea Nation?
His existence was to become an indelible thorn in the side of those who had obliterated the Vast Sea Nation!
"The Vast Sea Nation is no more, yet the perpetrators live on unscathed. They may have forgotten the war, but I cannot. I won't seek out each one of them, but I no longer need to conceal my identity. To truly live as a citizen of the Vast Sea Nation, to walk this earth, is the ultimate retribution for those individuals!"
With this epiphany, Chen Yuan felt a weight lift from his shoulders, a sense of liberation.
However, this did not signify safety.
Not for him, nor for Liu Xiaoxiao and the rest; they were far from secure.
"You're resilient, I'll give you that. I'm curious to see how many more times you can endure," Yu Bai declared, unyielding. As Chen Yuan stood defiantly once again, Yu Bai was already preparing his next move.
This time, the precipitation wasn't a mere drizzle but rather three or four orbs of Frostbreath. They manipulated the water orbs, swiftly morphing them into a colossal fist.
The fist was nearly identical to that of an ordinary person, except it had been enlarged more than a hundredfold!
Yu Bai raised his hand, and without so much as lifting his eyelids, he pressed his palm downward with a gentle push.
The Frostbreath fist followed suit, pressing down.
Chen Yuan, who had just managed to stand, was once again hammered into the ground. Yu Bai did not relent; his enormous and fearsome fist hammered down relentlessly, as if it were tireless.
The ground caved in, scattering dust and debris in all directions.
Yu Bai exhaled softly. For him, such manipulation was becoming somewhat exhausting.
"I broke through Sunsetwood Grove's defenses too hastily, and the Frostbreath within me hasn't fully replenished. To employ such a technique against a Body Cultivator is indeed overkill."
He must be dead by now, right? As this thought crossed Yu Bai's mind, his gaze shifted back to the indented ground.
A bright green light was emanating from it.
Liu Xiaoxiao gripped her fists tightly. She was unable to assist Chen Yuan; in this fight, he had to fend for himself.
And then there was the enigmatic green light bestowed upon him earlier by Qiu Changfeng.
Chen Yuan indeed emerged from the depression once more! The black and red hues on his body appeared more intense, yet his movements were quicker than before.
"Damn it, what in the world is that thing!" Yu Bai, losing his patience, swore out loud.
This was his first encounter with such an unusual Body Cultivator. Could there truly be a technique that rendered one immortal?
At that thought, Yu Bai's body tensed up, "Nonsense! Such a technique can't exist. Just die already!"
Frostbreath converged, and a transparent fist materialized before Chen Yuan, striking him squarely and sending him hurtling backward.
Yu Bai's strike was so powerful that the resulting gust carved a lengthy furrow into the ground.
Yet Chen Yuan's body still did not collapse. His legs remained planted firmly, standing before the trench that had been carved out in front of him.
He opened his eyes to a world without pain. A leaf from the Sunsetwood tree fluttered down, gently obscuring the view between the two adversaries.
Whoosh!
Gone!
Chen Yuan, having taken two heavy blows from Yu Bai, erupted with power. Far from being gravely injured, he still had strength to strike back!
Yu Bai's heart lurched as Chen Yuan vanished from sight. He had been too confident today, attempting to capture his opponent solely on the merit of being a Shadowmancer without properly assessing Chen Yuan's capabilities.
With this realization, Yu Bai's hands didn't miss a beat, swiftly responding to the threat.
He conjured a transparent shield of water around himself. Yu Bai steeled his resolve, and the water droplets suspended in the air abruptly doubled.
"Thinking to shake a tree with a mere insect's strength—overestimating oneself!" Yu Bai's face paled as his hands dropped to his sides.
Forming an intricate seal with his hands, Yu Bai became shrouded in a misty blue glow, as a chilling aura wove through the air.
"Frostbreath Slaughtering Formation, activate!"
At Yu Bai's command, the hovering water droplets sprang into action as if on cue.
They swirled, shifting like stars in the cosmos, each droplet transforming into a lethal blade that could tear through muscle and bone, decimating everything within miles.
Chen Yuan, previously vanished, was forced to reveal himself amidst the onslaught.
"I told you, Body Cultivator's feeble tricks!" Yu Bai sneered at the sight of Chen Yuan, bloodied by the water droplets' assault.
Chen Yuan remained silent, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on Yu Bai, impervious to the dizzying rain of droplets.
His body sustained yet another brutal hit.
Each raindrop pelted him, leaving a trail of wounds, blood gushing forth like a torrent.
Abandoning any attempt at swift evasion, Chen Yuan's icy stare held Yu Bai. Disregarding the verbal taunts, he took another determined step forward—into the path of hundreds more raindrops!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Chen Yuan's right leg was obliterated, reduced to a bloody haze, his very bones shattered by the relentless force of the mystical water.
The green light appeared on cue. Chen Yuan's right leg, which had transformed into a mist of blood, re-emerged from the haze. With that, he took a successful step forward.
Yu Bai's eyes widened in amazement.
Liu Xiaoxiao's eyes also widened in shock.
Sunsetwood Grove was bisected by a line of light where yin and yang converged.
On one side, a somber, swirling rain persisted, with ominous clouds overhead exuding a chilling presence. On the other, a colossal Sunsetwood Tree stood like a golden umbrella unfurled, sheltering the two individuals beneath it from the storm.
Yu Bai's true challenge was never Chen Yuan.
His real adversary was the late head of Sunsetwood Grove, Qiu Changfeng!
