C3 Carrying a Little Loli with You!(1)
On the outskirts of the southern city, nestled beside the ring road, lay a private residential area dotted with villas. In the wake of the apocalypse, the villa owners had either perished or scattered in search of refuge. No survivors dared to inhabit this area anymore, especially since a Zombie Horde had taken up residence there.
A voluptuous female zombie with vacant eyes was aimlessly meandering through a villa's garden. For her, finding food was an immense challenge. Even when she stumbled upon sustenance, the opportunity to share was unlikely. Her figure was so full that movement was nearly impossible. Despite her cumbersome nature, Chu Yue decided it was best not to provoke her. The last thing he wanted was to draw the attention of more zombies – that would be far from amusing. As for eliminating her? Chu Yue saw no point in that.
Having evaded the female zombie, Chu Yue slipped into the villa and softly locked the door behind him. His gaze swept the area. The first-floor living room was in disarray, with potted plants and antique ceramics strewn about – clear signs of the homeowner's frantic escape. Nevertheless, the likelihood of a zombie lurking here seemed low. Still, Chu Yue remained on high alert, meticulously inspecting every room and closet. Only after ensuring the villa was zombie-free did he settle into a conveniently located second-floor room.
"Miss Xue, we're going to stay here for a bit. Time to stretch your legs!" Chu Yue said as he opened his black backpack and gently lifted out a drowsy Chuxue.
"Mr. Chu Yue, where are we?" she inquired, her eyes wide with wonder at the spaciousness of the room.
"This will be our home for the next little while. Now, why don't you freshen up with a shower? I'll whip up something tasty for us," Chu Yue suggested, affectionately ruffling her hair.
"Alright!" Chuxue agreed with a nod before heading into the bathroom.
Once they were both clean and fed, they settled down on the expansive bed to rest. Meanwhile, Chu Yue's mind was awash with thoughts of the Mutation Ability he had gained through Sacrifice. Despite his initial reservations, the past month's relentless combat against zombies and Zhang Zuosi's minions had acclimatized him to the formidable power of his newfound ability. Moreover, he was finally coming to terms with the nature of his Sacrifice and the essence of his Mutation.
Chu Yue had awakened his Sacrifice ability, which transformed his very bones. He could use his consciousness to reshape his bones, manipulating them as freely as Junjun Ma Lu from Fire Shadow. The mutation rendered his bones incredibly strong. However, there was a steep price to pay: eventually, Chu Yue's bones would be completely stripped away.
Each time he used his Mutation Ability, one of Chu Yue's bones would fracture. Once all his bones were shattered, his life would be at its end. Fortunately, during this time, Chu Yue confirmed his theory. True to his expectations, Miss Xue's power could entirely negate the long-term damage from using his Mutation Ability. Moreover, it appeared that her abilities had potential for further enhancement.
Miss Xue's presence was akin to a bug or cheat code among the Sacrificers. This validation meant that as long as Miss Xue was by his side, Chu Yue could endlessly use his Mutation Ability without any side effects or consequences.
Isn't it a transmigrator's privilege to carry a grandfather figure with them? In this post-apocalyptic world, Chu Yue was like someone who had a little girl by his side.
"Is this what they call the protagonist's aura?" Chu Yue pondered, his excitement surging at the thought. He could utilize the Sacrifice endlessly without fretting over any repercussions. Miss Xue's abilities were nothing short of miraculous.
And importantly, she was deeply reliant on Chu Yue. Naturally, he had to keep this secret well-guarded, ensuring that no one discovered Miss Xue's capabilities. The potential consequences were too dire to contemplate. Not only would Chu Yue's life be at risk, but Miss Xue could also fall prey to enslavement by powerful factions.
Despite these risks, Chu Yue knew it was essential to remain discreet. Miss Xue's abilities must stay hidden, and he should minimize the use of his Mutation Ability. He was still uncertain of the toll it might take on Miss Xue over time.
Moreover, after the Sacrifice awakening, his body's functions had already significantly improved, and his potential for growth was substantial. Hence, he resolved to rely on his Mutation Ability as little as possible.
Whether it was for Chuxue or Chu Yue himself, there would be no harm involved.
...
At the Survivor Base, within the Sacrificers' residential area.
Typically, Sacrificers would only leave their homes for missions, and Zhang Zuosi was no exception.
"Smash!"
Suddenly, the sound of a cup being slammed down echoed through Zhang Zuosi's residence.
"Useless, all of you are useless!!!"
Zhang Zuosi angrily pointed at the people in the hall.
"Forty people, including five from the Flying Wolf Team or special forces! And in just one short month, all have vanished!?"
"What are you even doing? I refuse to believe they've all just vanished into thin air!"
The people in the hall exchanged glances, their faces a mix of bitterness and helplessness.
"Boss, I suspect another organization is interfering!"
One of them stepped forward and suggested.
"What about Chu Yue? Have you found him?"
Zhang Zuosi's eyes flashed with fury.
"I don't care if other organizations are involved; I want confirmation of Chu Yue's demise!"
"We'll start a thorough investigation immediately..."
The group exchanged knowing looks and spoke in unison.
"Thorough investigation? What have you been doing until now?"
Zhang Zuosi was seething with unvented rage.
"For the moment, set aside the matter of Chu Yue. Leave it entirely to the Cold Night Team!"
"Ah Jin, go to the Dusk Team immediately and ensure they capture Chu Yue's sister!"
Zhang Zuosi took a deep breath to quell his inner fury before continuing.
Chu Yue's case couldn't be rushed. After all, his sister was specifically requested by those above!
Thus, capturing Chu Yao was imperative.
"Boss, rest assured!"
The man in the duckbill hat cracked a sinister smile and slowly left the area.
"Dismissed. Stabilize the situation and avoid further errors! Also, promptly investigate the disappearances!"
"As for Lu Tieh and the others, I suspect they've met their end at Chu Yue's hands..."
Zhang Zuosi reclined on the sofa, closing his eyes to ponder deeply.
The remaining individuals nodded in agreement, then dispersed to their quarters.
...
On the outskirts of the southern city, after spending some time in the villa, it was nearly time to relocate.
During his stay at the villa, which lasted between three to five days, Chu Yue refrained from using his Mutation Ability. Instead, he relied solely on the physical enhancements gained from the Sacrifice awakening to overpower some of the less formidable zombies.
The boost in physical strength from the Sacrifice was incredibly beneficial to Chu Yue. Ordinarily, he could handle lifting up to two hundred pounds of supplies, but now he could easily manage nearly four hundred pounds without breaking a sweat!
Once Chu Yue had fully adapted to his enhanced physical capabilities and mastered control over his Mutation Ability, he resumed his plan for vengeance.
In the suburbs, to the north of the city's ring road and close to Yanjing University, there was a branch of the Survivor Base dedicated to collecting resources and locating survivors. However, this branch had now been seized by Zhang Zuosi.
Following Chu Yue's elimination of Zhang Zuosi's scattered forces, Zuosi had his confidants retreat and fortify themselves within the base.
