C6 Can You Fly?

The property spanned hundreds of hectares, bordered by a bustling commercial street.

Chu Yue's sister, Chu Yao, had recently enrolled at Normal University. Little did she know that the World Apocalypse would soon descend upon them.

Natural disasters struck with fury, with frequent earthquakes and relentless storms of violent winds and hail.

Then came the virus outbreak, infecting countless people who ultimately turned into Zombies, reminiscent of those in the film "Resident Evil."

The catastrophe struck so swiftly that many were unable to avert the tragedy.

It was only after the disasters subsided that the survivors ventured out of their homes, having faced the onslaught of Zombies and infections, that they began to band together into various factions.

They formed a community, much like the Survivor Base, where those who had survived banded together.

The emergence of the Sacrificer then shattered the harshness of the apocalypse.

...

The outpost was fifteen kilometers from Yanjing Normal University. By car, it would be a mere ten-minute journey, and on foot, just over an hour.

But now, things were different.

In the brutal post-apocalyptic world, it took Chu Yue and Ho Lan more than a day to reach Yanjing Normal University.

The number of Zombies on Xingyang Street was overwhelming, numbering in the thousands.

Above, carnivorous black crows circled menacingly.

In such dire conditions, with Chu Yue escorting the defenseless Ho Lan, their progress was severely hindered.

"Puchi!"

With a swift motion, Chu Yue wielded the Half Moon Black Ring Blade, decapitating any Zombies within a five-step radius.

Forged from the world's most durable mineral, the blade's sharpness was unparalleled, capable of slicing through hair and iron with ease.

Only three such bladed weapons existed within the Survivor Base.

The Half Moon Black Ring Blade Chu Yue wielded was one he had secreted away before being expelled from the base.

Yet, even after decapitation, the Zombies retained the ability to move!

Only by utterly destroying the central nervous system in a Zombie's brain could it be permanently eradicated.

Chu Yue thrust his blade, twisting the handle to pulverize the Zombie's brain, causing the headless body to collapse.

"You're so brutal!"

Witnessing Chu Yue slay a Zombie for the first time, Ho Lan felt her stomach churn with revulsion, nearly vomiting, before she voiced her complaint.

Chu Yue shot her a withering look and continued to dispatch the Zombies around them. "Unless you want a fiery kiss from one of these Zombies, I suggest you keep quiet!"

Ho Lan scrunched up her nose, her face full of disgust.

A passionate kiss with a Zombie?

That was a thought she couldn't stomach!

"Beauty with no brains..."

Chu Yue was beginning to regret bringing Ho Lan along. Aside from her charming looks and alluring figure, she seemed utterly useless.

He couldn't fathom how Ho Lan had managed to survive the seven months since the World Apocalypse!

After mentally tagging Ho Lan as a beauty with no brains, he stopped paying her any mind.

Ho Lan, too, clamped her mouth shut, terrified that Chu Yue might actually let the Zombies plant a passionate kiss on her!

Finally, Chu Yue was granted some peace and quiet.

As they ventured further into Xingyang Street, the number of Zombies began to grow, presenting a bit of a challenge for Chu Yue.

Luckily, Xingyang Street was riddled with side streets leading to Yanjing Normal University, and these alleys had fewer Zombies.

For safety's sake, Chu Yue and Ho Lan took one of these side streets.

Chu Yue was soon drenched in blood from fighting off Zombies.

Upon reaching a three-way intersection, they were confronted by a massive, bottomless fissure blocking their path.

The chasm was a result of natural disasters and earthquakes, stretching across dozens of meters and extending for hundreds more. Bypassing it would cost them hours.

"Hey, can you fly?"

"If you can't, we're in for a lengthy detour!"

"Taking the long way means more Zombie killing, which is utterly revolting!"

"The disgust is bearable, but then we'll need to change clothes again!"

"Changing clothes isn't the worst, but it means our trip to the university will take even longer."

"…"

Ho Lan eyed the fissure, then began to prattle on incessantly.

"…"

"If you don't zip it, I might just make you fly like a bird."

Chu Yue was at his wit's end. He strode over to Ho Lan, looking like he might actually carry out his threat.

"You—you better not try anything rash!"

Startled, Ho Lan quickly intervened, stopping Chu Yue, the brute. The idea of being tossed across was far from amusing.

"Behave yourself!"

Chu Yue seized Ho Lan, gave her rounded backside a pat, and hoisted her onto his shoulder.

"Wuwu... You brute, how can you spank a girl like that!"

Ho Lan was so pained that tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't dare let out a cry, so she could only mutter her grievances.

Chu Yue wasted no time. He carried her straight toward the massive tree on the right.

The tree must have been altered by the World Apocalypse, growing incredibly large, with branches that could stretch across to the other side.

Chu Yue grabbed a branch sturdy enough to bear their combined weight. He ran with vigorous strides, using the momentum and the swinging of the branch to propel them forward.

They leapt over the chasm in the earth, landing safely on the flat terrain beyond.

"Ah!"

As Ho Lan's scream dissipated, Chu Yue also touched down securely on the ground.

"If you don't want to draw Zombies, keep your mouth shut. No matter what happens, do not make a sound!"

Chu Yue set Ho Lan down on the ground, his tone heavy and stern as he spoke coldly.

Ho Lan gingerly touched her sore backside. Chu Yue's push had been far from gentle, but seeing his icy gaze and serious demeanor, she dared not voice any complaints or cause further trouble.

The man before her was not one to treat her delicately.

Chu Yue turned and walked away. Ho Lan's scream would soon attract a horde of Zombies to the area.

Zombies used sound to locate and hunt their prey, so in the apocalypse, survivors seldom risked raising their voices.

Ho Lan trailed behind Chu Yue like a shadow, no longer daring to challenge his commands.

Silently, they continued on.

As dusk approached, Chu Yue had to start looking for a suitable place to rest for the night.

But before they could find shelter, the sky quickly filled with a Black Crow Flock.

A few Black Crows, or even a dozen, were not frightening, but once their numbers exceeded a hundred, their destructive force was terrifying.

Faced with a Black Crow Flock of a hundred, survivors had no choice but to hide in truck containers or sturdy basements.

Otherwise, they were nothing but crow fodder!

"Run, run towards the nearest building!"

As the sky darkened ominously, Chu Yue's pupils contracted sharply. He urgently yelled to Ho Lan, "Move!"

Simultaneously, Chu Yue drew his Half Moon Black Ring Blade, ready for combat. He wasn't afraid of the Black Crow Flock, but Ho Lan was another story. Taking her to the nearby building would only complicate matters. The best strategy was for Ho Lan to head for the building while he drew the Black Crow Flock's attention. This way, he wouldn't reveal his identity as the Sacrificer.

By keeping his secret, Chu Yue could maintain his advantage and plan his return to the Survivor Base. Upon hearing Chu Yue's shout, Ho Lan immediately sprinted forward without hesitation or worry, especially as she saw the Black Crow Flock swirling above. She pushed herself to run faster.

"Bring it on!" Chu Yue bellowed, clenching the Half Moon Black Ring Blade as he stared down the Black Crow Flock, which now resembled a dark pillar plummeting from the sky like a meteor, accompanied by the whistling of the wind.

Chu Yue advanced with his blade raised, but the Black Crow Flock was relentless, and the Half Moon Black Ring Blade could hardly inflict significant damage. Once Ho Lan was out of sight, Chu Yue focused his mind, and his tailbone began to mutate, sprouting a crimson and white jade crystal bone tail.

Wielding the transformed crystal bone tail, Chu Yue slashed at the Black Crow Flock with his Half Moon Black Ring Blade...

Outside Yanjing Normal University, in the Eastern Province, abandoned vehicles littered the streets, their dust and rust painting them as relics of a bygone era. The Black Crow Flock had picked the area clean, leaving scattered white bones beside the cars, a testament to the desolation.

Zombies, their bodies decayed and reeking, wandered aimlessly like marionettes without strings. There were at least a hundred of them, and any living creature that drew near became their primary target.

Chu Yue was acutely aware of this, so he remained still. Any noise would attract the wandering zombies, who would converge in a frenzy more ferocious than wild beasts to devour their prey.

"So many zombies? How are we supposed to get inside?"

Ho Lan peered from behind a structure, surveying the scene in front of Yanjing Normal University. Noticing nearly a hundred zombies crowding the entrance, she turned to Chu Yue, who stood beside her.

"Hey, why don't you draw them away?"

"Maybe a dance? Or perhaps a striptease? I recall a senior doing that once!"

"I really think you should give it a shot. It's bound to work!"

"While I don't endorse such actions, as they lack decorum, a man shouldn't fear a little sacrifice, right?"

Ho Lan babbled on incessantly, nearly driving Chu Yue to distraction.

"…"

Chu Yue's expression soured with regret for having brought along this dead weight. People say a vase should at least be aware of its decorative purpose, but Ho Lan was like a vase devoid of any semblance of wisdom.

Chu Yue was baffled by how she had managed to survive this long.

Could it be that even the zombies were wary of her lowering their intelligence?

Ignoring Ho Lan, Chu Yue set his backpack down, preparing to retrieve a loudspeaker. A mundane item in everyday life, its utility was minimal, but in this age of the World Apocalypse, it had become a hot commodity.

Zombies lacked both vision and smell, relying solely on their hearing, which made the loudspeaker an effective tool for drawing them away. Chu Yue had thought ahead and packed two for emergencies.

"A loudspeaker? What good is that?"

Ho Lan watched in bewilderment as Chu Yue pulled out the loudspeaker, her confusion peaking when she discovered a charming little girl tucked away in his sizable backpack.

And that little girl was none other than Chuxue.

"Chu Yue, you jerk! How could you hide such an adorable little girl in your backpack?"
