C5 Now I Am Very Convenient!
"Oh my God, is that little golden figure on the hood the Rolls-Royce emblem?"
"Absolutely, what else did you think it was, an Oscar statuette? Let me tell you, that's a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, with a base price of over six million! To be able to line up a fleet of Cullinans, that's just insanely wealthy. I've got to share this on social media..."
Waitstaff at a five-star hotel are usually unimpressed by typical luxury, but tonight's Cullinan motorcade had them truly astounded. This wasn't just a fleet of cars; it was a rolling display of wealth!
While the hotel staff were in awe, Chen Qingchuan found it all quite mundane, even a bit tacky.
So when the woman from the car approached, Chen Qingchuan bluntly asked, "Ms. Hongwu, isn't this a bit tacky?"
The woman, Zhao Hongwu, was 38 years old and the provincial representative for the Daming Group.
Despite nearing forty, her beauty and allure could captivate many men, leaving them exhilarated.
Glancing down at her low-cut top and black stockings, Zhao Hongwu then looked at Chen Qingchuan.
"Which piece of clothing is tacky? Tell me, and I'll take it off right now to show you something that's not."
Chen Qingchuan held his forehead, "Enough, I wasn't talking about your clothes. I was referring to this motorcade!"
Zhao Hongwu flashed a charming smile and gestured dismissively at the fleet. "Did you hear that? Scram!"
At her command, the procession of Cullinans quickly reversed and dispersed, a testament to Zhao Hongwu's clout.
Yet, despite her formidable presence, Zhao Hongwu, the next moment, knelt respectfully on the ground, performing an ancient bow to Chen Qingchuan.
Chen Qingchuan did not intervene; it was beyond his control. This act of deference was ingrained in Zhao Hongwu's very being.
The Chen family, founders of the Daming Group, had a centuries-old legacy. Zhao Hongwu's ancestors had long served the Chen family, and so had she, for generations. This ancient ritual had been passed down through the centuries. As Zhao Hongwu herself once said, she would always be a servant before the Chen family.
Chen Qingchuan never intended to treat her like a servant; he always regarded her as an elder sister.
After Zhao Hongwu completed her bow, Chen Qingchuan quickly helped her to her feet and brushed the dust off her knees.
Zhao Hongwu, wearing a fond smile, gently stroked Chen Qingchuan's cheek and said, "Eldest Young Master, you've endured a lot."
"Suffered? Not at all. These past three years have been a breeze. You have no idea how comfortably I've been living, just eating and waiting around," Chen Qingchuan replied.
"But how can you be comfortable when Su Xue treats you like trash and Su Jun calls you an idiot?" Zhao Hongwu pressed, her previous research evident in her pointed question.
Indeed, Zhao Hongwu had done her homework and even come to a decision. "Just give the word, Eldest Young Master, and I'll have someone take care of them immediately!"
Chen Qingchuan knew Zhao Hongwu was serious, but he gestured dismissively. "There's no need for that. It's not necessary. I'll handle it. Anyway, Ms Hongwu, what brings you here? Surely it's not just to check on me?"
Zhao Hongwu quickly clarified, "The patriarch heard about your troubles with Su Xue and sent me to tell you that, starting tomorrow, you'll be managing all of Daming Group's operations in this province."
As soon as he heard this, Chen Qingchuan grasped the patriarch's intent:
You want a divorce? Fine, I agree now that the three-year term is up, but you're going to stay put. I refuse to believe you and Su Xue won't stir up some drama, doing business in the same province and running into each other all the time.
"Why does Great-Grandfather insist on projecting his life's regrets onto me? Sigh!"
"Well, you had it coming. After all, you're his favorite..."
Su Xue only managed to fall asleep around two in the morning, which meant she didn't wake up until 7:30 am.
Today, the Daming Group was scheduled for an inspection, and the leaders of the Provincial Trade Association were set to accompany them. Yet, at this critical juncture, she overslept.
Su Xue was deeply annoyed with herself and, in her heart, she couldn't help but blame Chen Qingchuan. Though it wasn't as if Chen Qingchuan had physically prevented her from sleeping, she had grown accustomed to attributing any mishap or inconvenience to his influence on her mood over the past three years. If something went wrong, it was surely because of him, whether directly or not.
In a frenzied rush, Su Xue hurriedly washed up, dressed, and clacked down the hallway in her high heels toward the door.
But haste led to disaster. Misstepping on the front stairs, she twisted her ankle, the pain so intense that she collapsed onto the ground.
Struggling to stand, she realized she couldn't even walk properly, much less drive.
Instinctively, she called out, "Chen Qingchuan, come out and drive for me, quickly!"
It was only after her plea hung in the air that Su Xue remembered Chen Qingchuan had left the night before.
A peculiar sense of loss washed over her. She had grown so accustomed to his presence over the last three years. Whenever her clothes were dirty, it was Chen Qingchuan to the rescue; if an appliance broke, Chen Qingchuan; if she left documents at the office, Chen Qingchuan; and when she was hungry late at night but didn't fancy takeout, again, Chen Qingchuan.
Without realizing it, she had come to rely on Chen Qingchuan whenever a problem arose. Despite her disdain for his seemingly carefree and idle demeanor, and her persistent belief in his uselessness, it was only in his absence that she recognized Chen Qingchuan's merits. His reliability shone brightly.
Chen Qingchuan had never disappointed her; he always executed her requests flawlessly.
Now, without him by her side, she felt as off-balance as her injured right foot. It was something she never noticed when it functioned normally, but once impaired, it was profoundly uncomfortable and hard to ignore.
"Chen Qingchuan, you jerk. I need you. Why aren't you here?!"
As Su Xue grumbled about Chen Qingchuan, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of hurt.
She then called Chen Qingchuan to let him know she needed to get to the company but had twisted her ankle.
Chen Qingchuan didn't overthink it. Since they had to sign the divorce papers today, it made no difference whether they met sooner or later, so he agreed.
Once back at his place, Chen Qingchuan drove Su Xue to the company.
During the drive, Su Xue brought up the incident from last night where Liu Zhen had transferred money to the wrong account.
Chen Qingchuan was taken aback. Such a coincidence? He hurried to clarify.
But before he could get a word out, Su Xue gestured dismissively, "No need to apologize. You've saved face, and I've ensured the company's funds are secure. Let's call it even as compensation for the slap I gave you yesterday. Besides, after we finish with today's business, find a convenient time for us to sign the divorce papers."
Chen Qingchuan was quick to respond. He pulled over to the side of the road and braked sharply, "I'm free right now."
Su Xue was getting irritated. "Chen Qingchuan, how eager are you to divorce me? Now's not a good time for me. Just drive!"
Damn, this woman has always been so unreasonable. For the past three years, it's been her constantly insisting on a divorce...
