C5 Great Vajra Palm
Yu Kun's face was etched with concern as he leaned in to listen closely.
The two disciples were still engrossed in their discussion about the martial arts technique they held.
"The latter half of the Great Vajra Palm's manuscript is missing. All the techniques are gone! It's impossible to cultivate the Great Vajra Palm now! It used to be a Grade Four Palm Technique; how did it end up like this?"
The realization dawned on the other disciple, "Ah, I see! Senior Brother, thanks for clearing that up for me! I had my sights set on mastering the Great Vajra Palm."
With that, the disciple promptly returned the manuscript detailing the Great Vajra Palm to its place on the bookshelf.
"Senior Brother, which martial arts would be suitable for me to practice?"
"Given your abilities, you should consider the Wind Palm or the Supreme Fist."
As the two disciples moved away, Yu Kun quickly approached the bookshelf they had been perusing and retrieved the manuscript of the Great Vajra Palm.
He thumbed through the pages, his expression turning curious.
Yu Kun could easily discern that the Great Vajra Palm was far more sophisticated than any other martial art on that floor. But as the disciple had mentioned, the crucial second half of the manuscript was missing.
In essence, it was an untrainable martial art.
"What a shame!" Yu Kun lamented, "If only I could practice this Palm Technique."
Just as Yu Kun was about to replace the manuscript on the shelf, the system's voice unexpectedly rang out, "If you consume this manuscript along with a Spirit Stone, you will acquire the knowledge of the Great Vajra Palm."
Yu Kun was taken aback, then his face lit up with excitement.
"So you're saying, as long as I have a Spirit Stone, I can master the Great Vajra Palm? Well then, I'm determined to learn it—after all, it's on par with a Grade Four Martial Art!"
The Great Vajra Palm was an esteemed martial art, unattainable to most due to the incomplete manuscript. But now, Yu Kun had the chance to master it!
With a surge of excitement, he secured the manuscript. Once back, he would begin his training in the Great Vajra Palm.
As Yu Kun was about to depart with the manuscript in hand, he noticed two figures descending from the second floor.
Access to the second floor of the library was reserved for those with significant accomplishments or for Inner Sect disciples. Yet, neither of these individuals seemed to have any substantial connection to Yu Kun.
But Yu Kun recognized one of them immediately—it was Yaen Hongling.
She was the object of the body's original owner's long-held secret affection.
Yu Kun stole a glance at her and couldn't help but admire her. She was indeed charming—a beauty with an alluring presence. It was clear why the former Yu Kun had fallen so hard for her.
However, the Yu Kun of today was not the same person. While Yaen Hongling was undoubtedly beautiful, she wasn't his type.
Nevertheless, having caught sight of Yaen Hongling, it was inevitable that she would see him too. As Yu Kun was about to make his exit, Yaen Hongling called out to him.
"Yu Kun? What brings you to the library?"
A sense of resignation washed over Yu Kun. But since she had spotted him, it wouldn't be right to just walk away.
Besides, Yu Kun's arrival in this world was somewhat linked to Yaen Hongling. Had she not intervened, the current Yu Kun would never have had the chance to take over—Chen Rui would have killed him on the spot.
With a touch of reluctance, Yu Kun faced her and replied, "I'm now an elite disciple of the Flying Cloud Sect, which grants me access to the library."
"Elite Disciple?" Yaen Hongling's surprise was evident. "But isn't that rank reserved for warriors who have reached the Qi Refining Stage?"
After giving Yu Kun a quick once-over, a look of understanding crossed her face. "I see. Not only did you escape injury from Chen Rui, but you also turned misfortune into fortune by advancing to the Qi Refining Stage. Congratulations."
Yu Kun remained silent, yet he picked up on the subtext of Yaen Hongling's words.
Clearly, Yaen Hongling was no fool. She was aware of the original Yu Kun's unrequited love for her and had simply been too kind to outright reject him. Still, Yu Kun could detect a certain coolness in her tone.
While the former Yu Kun had been deeply devoted to Yaen Hongling, she had never reciprocated his feelings.
The old Yu Kun would have been crushed by this realization, but the Yu Kun of now was unfazed.
Seeing that Yaen Hongling had no interest in small talk, Yu Kun lost his desire to linger. As he was about to bid farewell, he overheard the person next to Yaen Hongling speak up.
"Cousin, is this the disciple Chen Rui injured?"
Yaen Hongling paused briefly before nodding. She then added, "Yaen Changge, regardless, he once helped me."
"I'm aware!" Yaen Changge approached Yu Kun with an air of impatience.
With Yu Kun now intercepted, leaving was no longer an option. Puzzled, he faced Yaen Changge.
Yaen Changge's voice was icy as he spoke, "Don't delude yourself into thinking I'm unaware of your intentions. You're merely a disciple at the Low Rank Qi Refining Stage. Whether it's talent or status, you're not fit for my cousin. It's best you keep your distance and discard any ulterior motives."
Yu Kun couldn't suppress a chuckle.
"Yaen Changge? You're here just to deliver this warning? Prepare to be disappointed."
Yu Kun continued calmly, "Setting aside whether I harbor such thoughts, you, a young master coasting on family prestige, are hardly superior to me."
He then declared with confidence, "Neither status nor cultivation level are obstacles. Soon, I'll ascend to an Inner Sect disciple, perhaps even the most esteemed Direct Disciple within the Flying Cloud Sect."
Yu Kun's statement, though boastful, was underpinned by his conviction. With the Leviathan-roc Devouring System, he could easily advance to higher realms.
After he finished, Yaen Changge scoffed with scorn.
"A mere commoner, and yet you dare to make such audacious claims. I'm not even a Direct Disciple; you're chasing fantasies."
Yu Kun had no interest in further debate with Yaen Changge. "I'll take my leave now. When I've become an Inner Sect disciple, we can have our challenge."
With that, Yu Kun departed.
Yaen Changge, fists clenched in fury, muttered, "Such insolence from a lowly commoner."
A sudden thought struck Yaen Changge, and he turned to Yaen Hongling, "Cousin, you're silent. Do you perhaps fancy him?"
"Absolutely not," Yaen Hongling spoke deliberately, "The man I marry must be an unparalleled talent, not a mediocre mortal. Yu Kun did me a favor once, and for that, I'm thankful. But that's as far as my feelings go."
Yaen Changge exhaled in relief and responded, "That's reassuring. Let's be on our way. I'm quite curious to see when he'll make it to the Inner Sect. Once he does, I'll have a reason to challenge him. For now, picking on an Elite Disciple is beneath me."
