C96 Heading to the Chamber of Commerce

Yu Kun was aware that something was amiss with Meng Shuangyang, yet he refrained from probing too deeply. Grateful for the gift Meng Shuangyang had offered, he had no intention of holding it against him, especially since the Grade Four Movement Technique was precisely what he urgently needed. Had he possessed this technique earlier, he could have outmaneuvered the Human-snake Beast with sheer speed, without the need for any Divine Runes.

Shortly thereafter, a Law-enforcing Disciple delivered the cultivation technique, Spirit Stones, and other rewards. Yu Kun carefully stored them away before departing from the Law Enforcement Hall.

Having secured the cultivation technique, Yu Kun took a moment to reflect and ultimately decided to visit the Chamber of Commerce to sell some items. He had an abundance of mutated beast corpses that served him no purpose and figured they would fetch a good price with the Chamber's clientele, who he was sure would appreciate such goods.

However, he wouldn't offload the demonic beast corpses so readily; their greater value meant they warranted a higher selling price.

Upon arrival at the Chamber of Commerce, the attendants, recognizing his Inner Sect disciple attire, promptly ushered him inside with due respect.

Yu Kun browsed the Chamber's offerings, noting items like Divine Weapons and armor that piqued his interest.

Yet, as his current reliance was on Astral Energy and the Leviathan-roc Martial Soul, he found little use for weapons. While the armor caught his eye, he wasn't inclined to purchase any. Yu Kun understood that a warrior, upon reaching the Martial Disciple Stage, could condense a Soul Embryo and master the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. At the Warrior Stage, one could forge battle armor and even manifest various Astral Energy weapons.

Thus, the armor available was mostly suited for warriors of lower stages, unnecessary for those of higher prowess.

Yu Kun, though not overly ambitious, had no intention of remaining a Stage Four Martial Artist for life, rendering the purchase of armor superfluous for his journey ahead.

Yu Kun meandered through the marketplace several times, contemplating inquiring about the price of a mutated beast's carcass, when a barrage of curses erupted from a corner of the Chamber of Commerce.

Catching a glimpse of the commotion, Yu Kun observed a towering man berating a servant girl. Despite his limited vocabulary, the man's presence was undeniably intimidating.

The girl was on the receiving end of his tirade, her face flushed with embarrassment and her eyes brimming with unshed tears, a picture of utter distress.

Yu Kun watched from the sidelines as the man continued his verbal assault for a solid fifteen minutes before he trudged off into the Chamber's inner sanctum, his face clouded with discontent.

The servant girl, clearly perturbed by the scolding, regained her composure upon noticing Yu Kun. Approaching him, she offered her assistance with a polite, "Hello, may I help you with anything?"

Yu Kun, with a friendly smile, inquired, "I'm curious, why was that man scolding you earlier?"

The maid pursed her lips and explained, "That gentleman holds a special status, and unfortunately, we failed to meet his expectations."

Yu Kun chuckled at her response.

"Failed to meet his expectations? Who is he, exactly? Is he that influential?"

After a moment's hesitation, the maid nodded and revealed, "He's quite influential indeed! I've heard from our supervisor that he's an Alchemist!"

Yu Kun was familiar with the world of Alchemists and Divine Rune Masters—rare but exceedingly beneficial professions for warriors.

The distinction between the two was clear: while Divine Rune Masters offered substantial support on the battlefield, Alchemists played a crucial role throughout a warrior's entire journey. From cultivation and healing to detoxification, Alchemists were indispensable.

"It's said that the most adept Alchemists can even concoct Medicine Pills that have the power to bring the dead back to life—a profession that certainly outstrips Divine Rune Masters in both prestige and demand," Yu Kun mused.

Curious, he probed further, "If he's an Alchemist, respect is indeed due. But how exactly did you fail in your service?"

The girl's eyes welled up again as she protested, "I did nothing wrong! He wanted the Chamber to procure several powerful mutated beast skeletons for him. The Chamber agreed and even posted a task within the Flying Cloud Sect, hoping its disciples would hunt down these beasts. But the bones delivered weren't up to his standards—he didn't like them! And so, he blamed us for our incompetence."

Watching the girl break into tears, Yu Kun was taken aback.

At that moment, some passing merchants were already casting scornful glances his way.

"Why are they looking at me like that? I didn't make this girl cry! I'm not the type to bully anyone!"

Yu Kun massaged his temples, feeling a sense of resignation. "Why is my luck so rotten? Alchemists have such a high reputation. I bet the Alchemists on Thunder Continent have made a fortune."

With that thought, Yu Kun gave the girl's shoulder a reassuring pat and said, "Lead me to the Alchemist. I've got plenty of mutated beast bones!"

The girl, drying her eyes, looked at Yu Kun with surprise and asked, "You really have mutated beast bones?"

Yu Kun chuckled. "What reason would I have to lie to you?"

Her smile returned. She quickly dabbed away her tears and offered a gentle warning, "Just so you know, Alchemists can be quite eccentric."

Yu Kun's smile broadened.

He wasn't concerned, for he was a Divine Rune Master!

"Today, if I don't empty that Alchemist's coffers, I might as well change my name from Yu!"

Yu Kun grumbled to himself, then with a casual wave, he said, "Lead the way."

The girl nodded eagerly and guided Yu Kun through to the back hall.

Eventually, they came to a halt beside a quaint two-story building.

She tapped softly on the door. Soon after, an irate voice bellowed from within, "Get lost! Don't pester me!"

At the sound, the girl's eyes welled up with tears. Yu Kun couldn't suppress a chuckle.

"I should've considered becoming an Alchemist myself!"

Yu Kun rapped on the door and called out boldly, "I hear there's a renowned Alchemist here? I've come specifically to do business with you."

Instantly, Yu Kun detected a flurry of activity inside the room, as if the Alchemist was caught off guard.

Shortly after, the door swung open, revealing the tall man Yu Kun had seen earlier.

The man adjusted his collar and looked at Yu Kun with a haughty air, "Are you seeking me?"

Seeing him, Yu Kun had to stifle a laugh.

This Alchemist was shameless indeed. Yu Kun reckoned he could give Old Hee a run for his money.
