C19 They Were about to Transcend the Tribulation!

Jin Lingzi was well aware of the Swiftglades Sect's wolfish ambitions. The current sect master, Yu Qingzi, aimed to unify the orthodox cultivation sects under one banner. His rallying cry for the formation of the Demon Subduing Alliance was a clear move towards his true aspiration—to become the leader of the alliance. Consequently, the Swiftglades Sect's oppression of other sects intensified.

Among the four major sects, the Supreme Dao, despite its strength, always chose to stay neutral, avoiding conflict. The Floating Temple was a bastion of Buddhism in the west, while the Heavenly Dragon Valley lay on the eastern seaboard. Thus, the Swiftglades Sect had begun to exude the air of a "Cultivation World emperor."

Their dispatching of disciples was undoubtedly part of a larger scheme, and certainly not for petty theft. But whatever Yu Qingzi's intentions, Jin Lingzi was ready to face them. For now, however, Ning's diary demanded her attention. Yet upon reading it, her expression shifted dramatically.

"Uh..."

It was undeniable—her Master was a stunning blend of authority and grace. Jin Lingzi couldn't help but smile at the recognition from her disciple. The perfect fusion of strength and softness was evident.

But the next line caught her off guard, leaving her dumbstruck. Ning had imagined her in a phoenix coronet and multicolored robe, an image that left her frozen in thought.

"Wearing the phoenix coronet and the multicolored robe...?" How could Ning even entertain such thoughts? And why would he suddenly envision her in such regalia?

"Sigh..."

"It seems I need to be stricter with Ning."

Despite the perilous undertones in her Master's demeanor, caution remained paramount. "Ning, have you changed so quickly?" It's often said that women are fickle, but it appeared Ning was the most changeable of all.

Jin Lingzi chuckled to herself. Without sneaking a peek at Ning's diary, she would have remained oblivious to his hidden traits. The drama of their lives was unfolding, and once again, her dear disciple was burdened with concerns for their sect.

"Rest assured, no matter what, I will protect you from harm," she resolved. "Not a single scratch."

The underlying issue, however, was her own perceived weakness. If only she were stronger, such worries would be unfounded. Her thoughts turned to her two disciples, Ye Ning and Chen Qingwei. While Chen Qingwei was often a source of frustration, she wished for Ye Ning to share Chen Qingwei's carefree spirit.

A spark of determination ignited in her gaze. "Jin Lingzi, you can no longer allow your disciple to bear such burdens due to your own limitations. The time has come for me to face my tribulation."

With that, Jin Lingzi steeled herself for the tribulation ahead. In the many stages of cultivation, transcending tribulation was the most treacherous. Life and death hung in the balance once it began. The initial phase, the Wind Tribulation, would be the first test, assailing the primordial spirit with ferocious gales. Failure meant the soul's dissolution and the body's reduction to a mere husk. And each subsequent tribulation would only escalate in severity, presenting unparalleled challenges.

Even Jin Lingzi harbored fears about such an ending and wouldn't dare to enter lightly.

But now, she was resolute!

"If I am powerful enough to safeguard all of Irontalons, why should Ning have to shoulder such immense pressure?"

...

Ye Ning was unaware that his Master, Jin Lingzi, had decided to face her tribulation sooner than planned.

In the book's original plot, Jin Lingzi's tribulation was supposed to come much later.

Having just finished his diary entry, Ye Ning felt a renewed sense of propriety.

"Why does the Heart Devouring Bead have to be so vicious?"

"Something's off. Maybe I should practice some techniques specifically for purifying the mind?"

Like the Diamond Sutra or the Great Compassion Mantra.

No, those are monks' practices. What if I inadvertently take the monastic path?

Ye Ning believed that in Buddhism, as in all things taken to the extreme, there lay another form of demon.

So, he opted for Taoist texts like the Tao Te Ching.

I must be a person of morality.

"Now, to consider Jiang Feng's storyline!"

Jiang Feng is clearly here to wreak havoc. I can't afford to give him any openings.

I'll seal off every crack in his windows.

Ye Ning pondered the original storyline, readying himself for what lay ahead.

Unbeknownst to him, his junior sister had begun sneaking peeks at his diary.

"Huh?"

"Eldest Senior Brother is writing in his diary again!"

Today, Qingwei was exceptional.

She must look stunning in a bridal gown.

"Hehe, naturally, I did well. Eldest Senior Brother, isn't that stating the obvious?"

"Uh... I'm going to wear a bridal gown?"

"Really, Eldest Senior Brother, are you that eager to see me married off?"

"You talk of marrying me off by day, yet by night, your diary speaks of me in a bridal gown!"

"Hmph, Eldest Senior Brother, do you dislike me that much?"

"Ya, Ya, Ya, Eldest Senior Brother, I'm going to get you for this!"

"Hmph!"

"But..."

Chen Qingwei's heart skipped a beat, then suddenly, she was struck by a thought.

"Could it be..."

"Is Eldest Senior Brother so anxious to see me wed because his time is short?"

This realization caused her heart to wrench painfully.

"Indeed, Eldest Senior Brother seemed so serene and gentle today."

"His smile was warm, but could it be he's already preparing for his own end?"

Chen Qingwei felt her heart lurch.

"And to think, Eldest Senior Brother's resolve to confront Swiftglades' disciples might be his way of contributing to the sect before his time comes."

The more she dwelled on it, the more her heart ached.

"No, Chen Qingwei, focus on your cultivation!"

"I, Chen Qingwei, must redouble my efforts and continue my training."

With that, Chen Qingwei threw herself into her cultivation.

The once lazy Chen Qingwei transformed into a cultivation fanatic, embarking on intense training.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to her, Irontalons housed another 'cultivation fanatic': Chiang Yun.

Unlike the previously unmotivated Chen Qingwei, Chiang Yun was a natural-born warrior.

Suddenly—

"Hey, Eldest Senior Brother has updated his diary?"

"Hehe, let's see what he's written."

To date, Eldest Senior Brother Ye Ning was the only man who had captured her interest.

Chiang Yun coming directly to me for advice was a pleasant surprise. After all, she was supposed to despise me.

Upon reading this, Chiang Yun couldn't help but smile:

So the Eldest Senior Brother actually enjoys it when I seek his counsel!

Others would typically flee at the thought of asking for guidance.

But Eldest Senior Brother, he actually welcomed her with open arms.

He even recorded his happiness in his journal!

Truly, he is the epitome of an Eldest Senior Brother.

"But why on earth would I hate Eldest Senior Brother?"

Chiang Yun was puzzled.

Eldest Senior Brother was undeniably kind-hearted. People would be lucky to be liked by him, let alone hate him.

...

It was yet another night filled with hidden thoughts and emotions.

And on this particular night, the Irontalons were unexpectedly visited by an uninvited guest!
