C13 Escape

Bai Jiuyan fought to wipe the blood from the corner of her mouth.

She yearned to ask the identity of the mysterious savior who had repeatedly come to her aid, but within seconds, her injuries overcame her, and she succumbed to unconsciousness.

After his devastating attack, the mysterious figure stood alone; no one else remained standing.

Mo Fann let out a cold snort. He flicked his robe and glanced back, only to find Bai Jiuyan lying motionless on the ground.

Wife!

Without hesitation, Mo Fann removed his mask and dashed to her side. He gently lifted Bai Jiuyan, examining her wounds with care.

Thankfully, Bai Jiuyan's condition wasn't serious. The dizziness was a result of consuming an excess of tonics recently and the direct clash with Lee Jun's formidable energy, which had thrown her blood into turmoil, causing her to faint.

Mo Fann steadied his racing heart, cradled Bai Jiuyan in his arms, and made his way out of the auction house.

Chaos reigned within the auction house.

Employees had been cowering, heads in hands, too afraid to witness the havoc outside. Yet, after the initial uproar, an eerie silence had settled.

Eventually, they emerged from their hiding spots to a gruesome sight: the stage was awash with blood, and the props were scattered in disarray, a stark contrast to their former opulence.

Fortunately, the glass cabinet storing the auction items had been spared from the fray, and the red Demonic Pill remained inside, untouched.

At that moment, an elderly man with white hair and a crane-like complexion crawled out from beneath a table. It was the same scholar who had previously discussed the Demonic Pill's price with Bai Jiuyan.

An employee approached, his voice quivering, "Mr. Hua, with the boss absent, you're our pillar of strength. What should we do now?"

The old man stroked his beard thoughtfully before responding with resolve, "Fear not. We'll call the police first. The surveillance footage will clearly show who's responsible. And I will fulfill Miss Bai's request to the best of my ability. We'll deliver the Demonic Pill to the Lee family today and ensure they pay the promised two billion yuan."

The employee gasped, startled by the boldness of the plan.

"Ask the Lee family for money?! But..."

He peeked outside, searching for Lee Jun but found no trace of him.

The employee instinctively assumed Lee Jun had left the auction house. After all, he was the renowned scion of the Lee family and a Peak of Earth Level master—untouchable by most.

Meanwhile, on the streets of Erostey, police cars and ambulances sped toward the Nine Hu Auction House.

They had just received a report: the Lee family's young master had caused a commotion at the auction house before vanishing. Multiple fatalities were reported, with the victims' bodies so disfigured they were unrecognizable.

For a city that had known peace for so long, this was no small matter.

Outside the Nine Hu Auction House, the woman in the white suit who had been competing with Wang Jue stood with a grave expression. In her delicate hand, a green jade plate emitted a soft glow.

Shortly thereafter, vehicles emblazoned with "Demon Slayer Division" raced to the scene, coming to a halt beside her.

Several armed officers exited swiftly and knelt before the woman.

"Sir Zhou, our apologies for the delay," they said.

Sir Zhou merely shook her head, her demeanor unfazed by their tardiness.

She handed the fluorescent green jade plate to the person next to her and raised an eyebrow inquisitively.

"Do you realize what this means?"

Those who witnessed the jade plate's unusual glow were astounded.

"This?! A demonic entity above Earth Level has emerged in Hainan City?!"

Sir Zhou gave a slight nod of confirmation.

"Indeed. This jade plate was a gift from my master, and it's infallible. Shortly after I stepped out of the auction house, it began to glow. There's definitely a significant event unfolding inside. Seal off the area immediately, and keep ordinary police out. The Demon Slayer Division will handle this from here. Understood?"

"Understood, Sir Zhou!"

The Demon Slayer Division swiftly commenced a highly professional evacuation.

Meanwhile, Sir Zhou stood with her arms folded, her gaze fixed on the exit. She was certain that those connected to the incident would emerge, and when they did, she would unhesitatingly command their capture.

Unbeknownst to her, Mo Fann and Bai Jiuyan had already vanished from the auction house.

Just moments before, as he was leaving the auction house, Mo Fann had a sudden realization.

Having just slain the Lee family's heir, showing his face publicly would be inviting trouble. He couldn't afford to be so conspicuous.

His mastery of the art was still new; while he could travel great distances alone with ease, carrying the unconscious Bai Jiuyan was another story.

In a blink, he found himself in a parking lot not far from the auction house.

After hailing a cab, Mo Fann and Bai Jiuyan made their escape.

But soon, Mo Fann sensed something off.

A few suspicious black cars were trailing the taxi.

They had been following for several blocks now. Damn, could they be tracking them?

Bai Jiuyan murmured faintly from her position on Mo Fann's lap.

With a tender touch to her hair, Bai Jiuyan slowly opened her bleary eyes.

Tears glistened as she looked up at Mo Fann with a mix of relief and apprehension, biting her lip before whispering,

"Hubby…"

Hadn't they just been in a fight with Lee Jun? How did they end up in this car so suddenly?

Mo Fann, reading her thoughts, reassured her with a gentle smile.

"Everything's okay, my wife. I came to in the auction house, saw you on the stage, and carried you away. We're heading home now, alright?"

Bai Jiuyan clung to Mo Fann, her tears a testament to her relief.

Thankfully, he hadn't discovered her true identity.

She had feared she might never see her dear husband again.

Surely, it was the mysterious stranger who had defeated Lee Jun and rescued her.

Bai Jiuyan's expression suddenly shifted to one of concern; from her vantage point, she could clearly see the ominous black cars tailing them.

Mo Fann, aware that Bai Jiuyan had noticed, whispered urgently,

"Honey, there's something off about the cars behind us. Don't turn around; we can't let them catch on. We need to shake them off."

Bai Jiuyan's face tensed as she nodded, her mind racing to identify their pursuers.

"Could it be sent by the Lee family?"

She couldn't think of anyone else who would follow them.

Mo Fann glanced back, then shook his head, "We can't be certain yet. We'll find out soon enough."

From within the black car trailing behind,

Wang Jue's expression was sleazy, yet his eyes sparkled with a sinister excitement.
