C15 Question

In a flash, Wang Jue clutched his right eye in shock, his chin quivering until he suddenly burst into loud sobs.

"You hit me?! Even my parents have never struck me!"

Bai Jiuyan couldn't bear to watch, covering her face and turning away to stifle her laughter.

Mo Fann just shrugged.

"You're the one who stalked us, hired goons to attack us, and then overestimated yourself trying to take a swing at me."

Wang Jue, like a scolded child, plopped down on the ground, wailing.

"You're done for! Once my parents see my face, they won't let you off the hook!"

Mo Fann jiggled his leg nonchalantly.

"Couldn't you just tell your parents you walked into a pole?"

But Wang Jue continued to cry.

"You've always bullied me, from our school days to now. You even called me ugly... Waaah... Everyone knows I, Wang Jue, am one of the four distinguished young masters of Erostey! Nonsense!"

Mo Fann and Bai Jiuyan exchanged a glance and shook their heads in silent agreement before addressing Wang Jue.

"We've got to return the car to the driver; we won't waste more time on you. Drive yourself home."

Having seen Mo Fann's formidable display earlier, Wang Jue didn't dare argue. He just sat by the car, sobbing pitifully.

Mo Fann and Bai Jiuyan smoothly resolved the ambush and drove back to where they had left the driver.

Sure enough, the driver was nursing a minor injury, cursing under his breath by the roadside.

Approaching with an apologetic air, Mo Fann pulled out some cash for medical expenses and explained the situation. Thankfully, the driver was understanding and, after accepting the money, drove off.

The pair hailed another cab and headed back to their hotel.

Mo Fann mused aloud.

"Having our own car is so much more convenient. If we manage to get that two hundred million, the first thing I'll do is buy a new car for my wife and a new home for us."

Bai Jiuyan snuggled up to Mo Fann, her voice sweet with assurance.

"Don't worry, we'll get it. The auction house has rules: bid and you must pay, or we can take it to court for enforcement. The Lee family won't have a choice but to pay up!"

"Wow, we'll be living comfortably in no time."

The young couple nestled together in the taxi, dreamily envisioning their future, oblivious to the fact that the main instigator, Lee Jun, had been reduced to a pulp.

Meanwhile, outside the Nine Hu Auction House.

A throng of reporters and curious onlookers had jammed the place solid.

Thankfully, the Demon Slayer Division's special police had sealed off every nook and cranny of the auction house, keeping the crowd at bay.

Zhou Keqin had shed her white suit and let down her hair, now dressed in the special police uniform.

The green jade token in her hand had ceased its glow, returning to normal.

She bit her lip and narrowed her eyes toward the auction house exit.

It seemed the demon had made a successful getaway.

She had been vigilant at every exit...

With a resigned sigh, Zhou Keqin acknowledged that demons had myriad ways to escape, and her inability to channel her Qi lately hadn't helped...

This was precisely why she had attended the auction in the first place.

The Earth Level Demonic Pill might have aided her recovery, but she hadn't anticipated it would lead to such a grave incident.

They had successfully retrieved the surveillance footage from the auction house. Yet, the video only captured Lee Jun threatening the staff backstage before abruptly turning into a blizzard of white static. Clearly, this was Bai Jiuyan's handiwork. Anticipating that the cameras might capture his transformation into a demon, she had disrupted all the cameras just before acting, drawing on her intimate knowledge of the auction house.

The remnants of flesh strewn around the stage, now unrecognizable to the naked eye, were collected by ambulances and taken for DNA identification. The conclusive results, however, would likely take another week. To the public, Lee Jun had vanished into thin air.

At that moment, several luxury cars broke through the throng of civilians and journalists, pulling up alongside the Demon Slayer Division's special police vehicles. Trained bodyguards stepped out and efficiently opened the doors, escorting the car's occupants.

Two individuals emerged: a middle-aged man with a square face and a grave demeanor, and a tearful, elegant lady. The woman, unsteady on her feet, reached out and grasped Zhou Keqin's hand.

"Ms. Zhou, what has happened? Where is my son, Lee Jun?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The square-faced man, hands clasped behind his back, cleared his throat with a few forceful coughs. "Wanjun, please don't disrupt Ms. Zhou's investigative process. Let's listen to what she has to say about our missing family member," he said sternly.

With no grounds for refusal, Zhou Keqin sighed and approached the man, video disc in hand. "I understand it's hard to accept, but the footage shows that after killing an auction house employee, Young Master Lee disappeared under mysterious circumstances. We've found traces of a demon outside, but it has since eluded capture."

The man's eyes blazed with fury. "A demon?! What caliber of demon could harm Little Jun? Is the Demon Slayer Division just sitting on its hands? The City of Erostey pays you millions in taxes each year for what? To shirk your responsibilities?"

Zhou Keqin inwardly scoffed. Lee Guohui, the city's wealthiest capitalist and head of a prestigious martial arts family, was more concerned with pointing fingers at the Demon Slayer Division than acknowledging his son's crime.

"My apologies, Old Mr. Lee, but please remain calm. The DNA testing will take some time, and during this period, we will do our utmost to locate Young Master Lee," she explained. "Furthermore, since Young Master Lee purchased a Demonic Pill valued at 200 million from the Nine Hu Auction House, they have filed for a compulsory execution against the Lee family. The auction house's compensation for the casualties will also need to be settled promptly."

Lee Guohui's eyes bulged with indignation. "What?!"

Before he could continue, Zhou Keqin offered a perfectly arched smile and a slight bow. "Old Mr. Lee, I apologize, but I have other matters to attend to and must take my leave."

With that, she turned on her heel and departed, the earlier warmth in her gaze gone. If it weren't for her master's advice to bide her time and not antagonize the Lee family prematurely, she would have already confronted Lee Guohui directly.
