C16 Killing His Enemy with One Punch
Luo Youyou noticed his eagerness for battle, a sly glint in her eyes. She pressed her rosy lips together, a mischievous spirit in her demeanor as she approached him.
"Tongtian, my father has found a chance to take down the Black Scarf Bandits. Do you want to join the action?"
"These guys are willing to be the city guards' lackeys, openly stealing horses from the General's Mansion and tarnishing my godfather's reputation. Of course, I won't let them get away with it," Luo Tongtian replied, waving his battle axe with a roar.
"Great, I've got word that, encouraged by the city guards, they're planning to attack one of our secret military bases at the General's Mansion tonight."
"If they succeed, that old fox Yang Lin will use it against us, which could seriously undermine my father's position," Luo Youyou said, biting her lip.
"Then let's head out immediately. For both public and personal reasons, I must get revenge on them."
Without hesitation, Luo Tongtian gathered his gear, and together with Luo Youyou, they disappeared into the night.
Both Luo Tongtian and Luo Youyou were well-known in Luoyang City, having grown up there and knowing every nook and cranny. It was easy for them to slip out of the city and into a quiet forest.
Luo Youyou had already prepared two fine horses, their hooves wrapped in thick cloth, clearly ready for a night mission. This made Luo Tongtian increasingly uneasy.
With a furrowed brow and a hint of doubt, he asked Luo Youyou, "Hey, something seems off. Are we the only ones on this mission?"
Giggling, Luo Youyou replied, "The team set out two hours ago. I wanted to go with them, but my father was worried about my safety and insisted I stay behind, so..."
A mischievous glint appeared on her face as she spoke.
"So... you dragged me along so you could use me as a shield if your father gets upset, right?" Luo Tongtian interjected.
"You got it. No need to spell it out," Luo Youyou laughed, her lips curling into a playful smile.
"Fine, I just mastered the Thunder Technique and was itching to test its power. Your invitation is a perfect chance for me to show what I can do," Luo Tongtian declared confidently.
"I'm asking you to help because I trust you, and I also want you to gain some battle experience. But let's be clear—while you've improved a lot lately, you're still just a level three warrior. You have to follow my lead and no playing hero," Luo Youyou warned.
Luo Youyou turned to Luo Tongtian, speaking with earnestness.
"I understand. With you, a level-eight warrior, around, I know I won't have to face any formidable enemies. I have that much self-awareness."
Luo Tongtian nodded and smiled.
"Our father always underestimates us. This time, we must achieve something noteworthy to show him what we're capable of."
Luo Youyou smiled slightly, and the two of them rode their horses swiftly toward the southwest.
As the night deepened, the chill lingered in the air.
The serene moon cast its glow over the land, draping everything in a silver sheen.
About seventy-five miles southwest of Luoyang City, there was a vast expanse of green peaks. These mountains weren't particularly tall, with the highest reaching about 2,500 feet and the lowest just over 300 feet.
Among these peaks stood a gourd-shaped mountain with an ancient charm, hidden amidst the others, creating its own secluded world. Its surface was dotted with numerous caves, resembling a giant beehive.
The paths leading here were numerous, with dozens of routes, each guarded, making it nearly impossible for ordinary people to enter.
This was a secret military base under the jurisdiction of the General's Mansion, storing a large amount of military supplies and training soldiers. It was one of General Luo Ning's greatest assets in his opposition to the city defense forces.
As time passed, the night grew darker, and the moon seemed to hide behind the clouds, perhaps sensing the tension in the air.
On a hill a few miles from the military base, two figures hid behind the shadowy rocks, quietly observing the base.
"Youyou, is this the secret military base under your godfather's command? Why does it look so strange?"
After many years, Tongtian finally had the chance to be alone with Youyou again, which made him feel a surge of excitement. Despite his efforts to remain calm, his slightly trembling hands betrayed his emotions.
Miss Luo was perceptive, and Tongtian's subtle emotional shifts did not escape her notice. Even though her heart was filled with joy and sweetness, she maintained an air of calm composure.
"You don't understand," she replied. "This hill may seem unremarkable, but it has quite a history. It was once a place of cultivation left by a master, connected to the earth's energy with strong natural defenses."
"Also, don't be fooled by the hill's modest height. It's hollow inside, with space extending downward for miles, forming a massive spiral structure," Miss Luo explained, her eyes sparkling.
"I see. This place has good ventilation, a vast space, and a complex geographical layout, making it ideal for a military base," Tongtian nodded slowly.
“Shh, someone’s coming!” Youyou was about to say something when she suddenly frowned.
Tongtian turned his head to look down and saw shadows slipping along the winding mountain path toward the military base. These people seemed to know the base's layout well, taking shortcuts and skillfully avoiding its defenses.
“The enemy means business. There might be insiders among them; otherwise, they wouldn’t know the terrain so well,” Tongtian said, frowning slightly.
“Don’t worry. Since Dad knows their plan, he’s probably set a trap for them. We just need to wait for the right moment to act,” Youyou said confidently, trusting her father’s arrangements.
The group of shadows, numbering over a hundred, moved swiftly and quietly into the secret military base, disappearing without a trace. Thirty seconds later, another group followed, with the same silent outcome.
After both groups vanished without a sound, the intruders grew cautious. A green flare shot into the sky, leaving a brilliant trail. Countless shadows emerged from the darkness, charging toward the military base with a fierce and reckless energy.
These people moved with incredible speed, their curved blades radiating a wild intent to kill, clearly seasoned warriors with years of battle experience. They swarmed like locusts toward the many entrances of the military base, their momentum unstoppable, like a flood breaking through a dam.
At this moment, Tongtian suddenly focused on two individuals among the many figures dressed in black, about a hundred yards away, and his brow furrowed slightly. He turned and gently squeezed Youyou's small hand, speaking softly, "Wait for me a moment, I need to take care of someone."
Before Youyou could respond, he had already slipped away like a phantom toward the group in black, his sudden movement causing her to stomp her foot in frustration. "That infuriating guy, never listens."
Dressed in black himself, Tongtian successfully infiltrated the enemy ranks, only drawing attention when he confronted a familiar figure. "Who are you?" demanded the leader of the black-clad group.
Tongtian ignored the question, his gaze fixed intently on the traitor. "Qin Yu, you traitor. My father treated you well, yet you betrayed us and now conspire with the enemy to attack the base. Today, I will set things right for my father."
"You've got it wrong. We were originally part of the City Guard, and going to the General's Mansion was just a strategic move by our leader. Once we take out Luo Ning, the entire city will be ours," Qin Yu sneered at Luo Tongtian with smug satisfaction.
"My godfather won't die. It's you who's about to meet your end at my hands," Luo Tongtian retorted, suppressing his anger. With a powerful punch, he charged at Qin Yu like a thunderstorm.
Back on the mountain, Qin Yu was no match for him. After enduring the trials of battle, Luo Tongtian had truly grasped the essence of combat. Within moments, Qin Yu was forced to retreat under his relentless assault.
"You pesky brat, we'll see about that!" Qin Yu shouted, tossing his sword into the air before retreating swiftly.
"Do you really think you can escape?" Luo Tongtian's eyes were cold as he caught the sword, shattering it into pieces with a flick of his wrist. The fragments shot toward Qin Yu's back.
Qin Yu, a Fourth Level Hercules, wasn't easy to corner. Twisting his body like a snake, he dodged the flying shards. But Luo Tongtian closed in like a bolt of lightning, his terrifying fists ready to strike.
A powerful blow from a distance sent Qin Yu staggering, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, his steps faltering. Luo Tongtian seized the opportunity, rushing forward to grip Qin Yu's pulse point.
A steady stream of power flowed from Qin Yu's body into his, making his already firm and solid skin glow with a brighter luster, appearing smooth and full. After absorbing Qin Yu's energy and vitality, Luo Tongtian's combat state reached its peak. The immense energy permeated his skin, creating an intensely refined sensation. In contrast, Qin Yu's body withered rapidly, like a dying flower. His throat made a rattling sound, but he could no longer utter a word.
