C1 Results of the Cultivation Test
“Students, this marks the culmination of the talent and cultivation test. I shall be announcing the results next.”
Lin Qingshan spoke slowly in front of the Advanced Martial Class 7 of Origin City’s Third Ancient Martial Academy. The form teacher swept a glance over the students as he called out the names from the list that he was holding.
“Cao Qinglang. Talent, 2 stars. Vitality Stage, Level 2. Qualified.
"Tang Liang. Talent, 3 stars. Vitality Stage, Level 3. Good.
"Wu Yufei. Talent, 2 stars. Vitality Stage, Level 1. Poor.
"Chen Hao. Talent, 5 stars. Vitality Stage, Level 4. Excellent!”
As soon as he finished announcing the fourth student, a lively discussion erupted inside the classroom.
“As expected of Chen Hao! He deserves to be the class monitor, his results are among the top in the entire Grade 10!”
“But have you heard about Lee Qingchuan from Advanced Martial Class 2? He is a 5-star talent, and his Vitality Stage is level 5!”
“Gosh, that’s impressive! My talent is only 2 stars!”
“Oh, don’t beat yourself up. 2 stars is still considerably high, especially compared to a worthless piece of scum.”
“You’re talking about Su Yi, aren’t you?”
“Who else could it be?”
Up ahead at the podium, Lin Qingshan loudly cleared his throat and raised his hand. “All right, everyone. Quiet down!”
The students immediately fell quiet.
Lin Qingshan swept another glance over the room, this time with narrowed eyes. His gaze stopped at a frail-looking student in the back. “Su Yi. Talent, 1 star. You failed to even break through a single Vitality Stage! Your results are not up to standard!”
“See?” as student piped up, causing another buzz around the room. “I wasn’t wrong for calling him scum, he really is a piece of trash!”
“Hey, Su Yi, why don’t you just quit school? I’m ashamed to even admit that you and I are in the same class!”
Everyone was shooting Su Yi disdainful looks as they mocked him and snickered behind their hands.
Su Yi simply lowered his head, his face and ears burning in embarrassment.
As mortified as he was, however, he couldn’t help but feel angered and aggrieved at the amount of vitriol that was thrown at him.
His hands balled into fists, and he repeated the same words over and over in his head.
“I am not trash. I will become a skilled martial artist, no matter what!”
Half a year had passed since he transmigrated to the body of this seventeen-year-old boy who shared the same name as his, in this alternate universe known as Blue Star.
Blue Star was a harsh and cutthroat world, where only the strong were respected while the weak toiled at their superiors’ feet.
If Su Yi wanted to gain a foothold and live a dignified life, he must first become a warrior and prove his worth.
The only problem was that this body was very weak, with little to no cultivation talent to speak of. It wasn’t surprising that he had failed to break through even the first Vitality Stage.
He had been working hard, spending the last six months cultivating, but his efforts were in vain. In the end, he was still just an ordinary person without a cultivation base.
Once again, Lin Qingshan held up his hand and signaled for the students to be quiet.
His eyes bore into Su Yi’s head as he asked, “As per the rules of the academy, you will be given the option to step into the Demon Suppressing Tower and show us that you deserve to stay in this institution. Will you take it or will you bow out while you still have the chance?”
The Demon Suppressing Tower was an artifact that carried spatial magic. It might look unassuming on the outside, but it housed numerous Ferocious Beasts within its limitless confines.
These creatures were regarded as a foreign species, none of which were supposed to exist in the human planes. They were powerful and bloodthirsty beings that lived only to kill and destroy.
As it was, they currently posed a significant threat to all of Blue Star. A large number of Ferocious Beasts had popped up and were trying to intrude into the human settlements.
Su Yi’s mind was racing. According to the rules of the Third Ancient Martial Academy, any student who failed to break through a Vitality Stage would either be expelled directly or tossed into the Demon Suppressing Tower. If they chose the latter option, they would have to stay there for half an hour and survive.
Only then would they be granted the approval to stay in the academy.
Cao Qinglang, Su Yi’s deskmate, gently nudged his arm and said in a hushed voice, “Just give it up, Su Yi.”
There was no danger of imminent death in the Demon Suppressing Tower, the grandmasters guaranteed as such, but absolute torture was inevitable.
Everyone knew of the brutal nature the Ferocious Beasts possessed. A warrior of Vitality Stage Level 1 could barely survive half an hour, let alone an ordinary, talentless person.
