C4 The Body Tempering Stage
Lin Qingshan took a white jade pendant out of his pocket and placed it in Su Yi’s hand. “Take this and remember not to force yourself.”
The jade pendant was a teleportation token. It would enable Su Yi to teleport outside the tower if he was in grave pain or danger.
“I understand, Mr. Lin.”
Su Yi pocketed the jade pendant, glanced up the length of the tower, and took a deep breath. Then, he stepped inside.
Right in the next second, the doors closed with a heavy thud, swallowing Su Yi’s figure out of everyone’s sight.
“Come on, he’s in! Let’s start the countdown.”
The surrounding students tittered with renewed excitement.
Cao Qinglang stood to the side all by himself, wallowing in endless sighs.
“Oh, Su Yi! Why did you choose to go in?” he muttered mournfully.
As loyal as he was to his friend, he, too, thought that Su Yi would not hold out for long.
“Cao! Have you seen my brother?”
A petite girl sidled up next to Cao Qinglang, her cute face flushed from her rush.
“Your brother just entered the Demon Suppressing Tower.”
It was Su Lin, Su Yi’s sister, who was also seventeen years old.
Compared to Su Yi’s deplorable reputation, however, Su Lin was a favorite among the teachers and students alike.
Her talent was at 5 stars, and she was on Vitality Stage Level 4. Her academics were impressive as well, and she was among the top students in their entire grade.
“Why would my brother do this?”
Su Lin's expression was grim.
While it was true that there was no risk of dying inside the Demon Suppressing Tower, there was the very real probability of immense physical pain.
To everyone’s mind, Su Yi was just an ordinary person. The injuries he would no doubt suffer would be far worse than those of a person with a cultivation base. In the worst-case scenario, he might even become permanently disabled.
On the other side, Su Yi was trying his best to study his surroundings. The first thing that registered in his head upon entry was that everything was blurry.
It took some time, but when his vision finally cleared, he found himself in the middle of a rather sparse forest.
Then, he heard the ferocious roar of a wild beast.
Su Yi tried to keep himself steady as he swiveled in the direction of the noise. He was greeted by the sight of a huge, green wolf, about three meters long. It stood majestically on top of a boulder, baring its fangs at him.
"Vitality Stage Level 1: Green Wind Wolf!"
The system echoed in his head, revealing the origins of the creature.
Not many knew this, but the Ferocious Beasts residing in the Demon Suppressing Tower were all illusions. That was why there was no threat of death. Even so, the terror that they struck in the people’s hearts was all too real.
And at the moment, the Green Wind Wolf was emitting an extremely formidable aura. Its scarlet eyes glowed like two blazing rubies.
It stared down at Su Yi for a moment or two. And then it lunged.
Su Yi gritted his teeth and swallowed his fear, then he harnessed what little vitality power he had in him. As the creature approached, he put all of his strength into a single punch and let it loose.
He managed to land it square on the Green Wind Wolf’s head, but the next thing he knew, his fist was swatted away by the creature, sending him flying to the side.
As Su Yi arced in the air, the system’s voice sounded inside his head.
“Host has touched a Green Wind Wolf. Host has successfully extracted 100 units of vitality value and 100 units of Body Tempering. Host has successfully broken through to Vitality Stage Level 2. Host’s knuckles have been repaired to utmost condition.”
“Vitality Stage Level 2! And my bones are all healed?”
Su Yi was beyond excited. Just a second ago, his body was wracked with pain from the impact, but now, he felt light as air.
In light of this, the fact that he had attained Vitality Stage Level 2 and increased his strength to 200 kg seemed like a very extravagant bonus.
His hands had been completely tempered, too.
In the world of Blue Star, there was a clear classification of cultivation levels.
From lowest to highest, they were the Vitality Stage, the Body Tempering Stage, the Soul Gathering Stage, the Illusionary Spirit Stage, the God Connecting Stage, and the True Spirit Stage.
Each realm was then divided into ten levels, each indicating a warrior’s aptitude in the field.
Of these classifications, the Vitality and Body Tempering Stages were considered the basic ones, as they mainly focused on honing one’s physical strengths.
Vitality Stage cultivated a warrior’s vitality strength, pretty self-explanatory, while the Body Tempering Stage increased one’s body, bone by bone.
There was an order to the tempering, too—
First the hands, then the feet, the arms, the legs, the sternum, the ribs, the hips, the spine, and lastly, the skull.
With every bone tempered, the warrior’s strength would increase by 100 kg, and so would their defense.
Eventually, once the warrior broke through the Soul Gathering Stage, their strength and defense would be at maximum, and they would no longer need to cultivate them. Instead, they would begin cultivating the Spirit Qi.
Needless to say, warriors who possessed the Spirit Qi were in a whole other league, something that those from the basic levels could only aspire to.
It was known that only a warrior who had mastered Vitality Stage Level 10 was able to start tempering their bones.
Su Yi had obviously skipped multiple stages and plunged into the Body Tempering Stage ahead of time.
What did that make his cultivation base?
Although understandably confused, there was one thing that Su Yi understood very well.
His hands were now as hard as steel, and his strength had increased significantly.
As though to confirm this, he felt the familiar sensation of his blood boiling in his veins. His hands grew itchy.
After a few short breaths, the feeling dissipated into nothing.
