C12 Deadly Love Poison

"Dad!"

"Grandpa!"

"Mr. Tang!"

The moment Old Master Tang's eyes fluttered open, a chorus of surprised voices filled the hall. Some direct members of the Tang family had already dashed over to Old Master Tang, eager to witness the miraculous scene unfolding before them.

Tang Bei'er's eyes were wide with shock, her pretty face a mix of disbelief and awe.

Could it be that the so-called fraud had actually healed her grandfather?

Tang Hao's fists were clenched tightly as he turned to Pei Junlin with a look of deep gratitude. Pei Junlin, however, wasn't looking back at him. His attention remained fixed on Old Master Tang's expression.

Tang Baichuan was rubbing his chest, reveling in a newfound sense of relief he'd never experienced before. His face mirrored his surprise, "My chronic ailment... it's gone!"

The medical professionals exchanged puzzled glances, with Lee Ye's expression particularly dark. He had declared, in front of everyone, that if Pei Junlin managed to heal Old Master Tang, he would publicly bow and apologize to him!

"Quick, get the instruments and check Old Master Tang's vitals!" commanded a leading doctor.

It was then that the crowd snapped out of their initial shock and sprang into action.

But just as they were about to proceed, a voice cut through the commotion, "Old Master Tang's illness isn't cured yet. What's the point of running tests now?"

Those poised to act were suddenly frozen, caught off guard by the interjection.

"What are you implying?" Lee Ye asked, his voice losing its edge and taking on a note of respect. After all, a person with exceptional professional expertise commands respect in any field, at any time.

"Who is this young man?" Tang Baichuan inquired, picking up on the crowd's peculiar reaction.

"Grandpa, this is the doctor I brought to see you. He's the one who just treated your illness. His name is..."

Tang Hao approached his grandfather, beginning his introduction with reverence. Mid-sentence, however, he hesitated, his face betraying his embarrassment—he didn't know Pei Junlin's name.

"Old Master Tang, I am Pei Junlin," Pei Junlin interjected, his voice carrying an unusual note of politeness. Despite the old man before him being well into his sixties, Pei Junlin's military bearing was unmistakable. A man of distinguished service to his country, he deserved respect wherever he went.

Old Master Tang was not just any Martial Arts expert. His cultivation was significantly deeper than Tang Hao's, having reached the pinnacle of Dark Force.

"Excellent! You're young and talented!"

Tang Baichuan commended, "Should you ever require the Tang family's assistance, don't hesitate to let me know. Though I may be advanced in years, I still wield some influence."

Before Old Master Tang could finish, Pei Junlin had barely reacted, but the faces of those around him were a different story. Many cast envious and jealous glances his way.

"Old Master, should I find myself in need of your help, I won't hesitate to ask," Pei Junlin stated, then swiftly shifted the conversation. "However, before we get to that, there's something I need to inquire about."

"My boy, speak freely!" Tang Baichuan encouraged with a warm smile.

"Old Master, your illness hasn't truly improved. If you're seeking a complete recovery, I can offer my continued treatment."

"Absolutely, it must be fully cured!" Tang Jicheng, the mayor, interjected before Pei Junlin could even finish.

The Tang family members around them all nodded in agreement.

Who in this world wouldn't want to be rid of their ailments completely?

Only a fool would think otherwise!

"Silence, all of you! Let him finish speaking!"

Tang Baichuan sharply reprimanded them. The Tang family might carry themselves with arrogance elsewhere, but they were nothing but respectful in the presence of the Old Master. No one dared to be impolite.

The Tang family's current splendor was a testament to the Old Master's legacy. Indeed, the family's continued prominence was largely due to him still being among the living. His esteemed military identity alone commanded immense respect from countless officials.

Pei Junlin's gaze intensified as he looked at Tang Baichuan and spoke deliberately, "Old Master, while others may be oblivious to the specifics of your condition, someone with your capabilities and background must have some insight into your illness, correct?"

"After all, it's not every day that someone is afflicted by such a rare and cunning hex as the Deadly Love Poison."

Upon hearing Pei Junlin's words, Tang Baichuan, who had shown signs of recovery, seemed as though he had been dealt a heavy blow, his complexion turning deathly pale.

Meanwhile, those around him were bewildered, clueless about the nature of the Deadly Love Poison.

Everything unfolded like a riddle, with bystanders seemingly engrossed in a fantasy novel.

Only a select few wore complex looks upon hearing Pei Junlin's words.

Suddenly, an elder traditional medicine expert with grey hair gasped in disbelief, "Deadly Love Poison? Could it be the legendary kind from the southwest?"

"Jicheng, get everyone out of here!"

Mid-sentence, Tang Baichuan's words were cut off by his own agonized scream. His hands clutched his chest as veins bulged on his face.

The crowd was terrified, their exclamations echoing in shock.

Mayor Tang Jicheng, in a swift turn, seized Pei Junlin's arm, pleading, "Pei Junlin! I'm sorry for how I acted before! Please, you must treat my father! I know you're capable!"

Panic and urgency washed over his face, stripping away any mayoral dignity.

Tang Baichuan was the rock of the Tang family; his well-being was non-negotiable. Any mishap would deal the family a blow like never before.

Tang Hao approached with haste, "Mr. Pei, I implore you to save my grandfather! Whatever you ask, I will grant!" Desperation etched itself across his earnest, handsome features.

The onlookers' gazes shifted once more, now fixed on Pei Junlin with renewed intensity.

Pei Junlin, with a furrowed brow, stepped toward Tang Baichuan, but no one expected the pained man to bellow with a twisted face, "No! I refuse to be cured! Pei Junlin, should you dare to heal me, you'll be marked as an enemy of the Tang family!"

"Dad!"

"Grandfather!"

Tang Baichuan's roar altered every face, and only then did it dawn on them that Pei Junlin's reluctance to heal was rooted in complexities they hadn't considered.

The Tangs paced with frantic energy, yet none dared countermand the patriarch's wishes.

Tang Hao clung to Pei Junlin's arm, his voice tinged with desperation, "Mr. Pei, surely there's another way, isn't there?" His usual resilience was close to breaking.

Pei Junlin's expression darkened. Without warning, he bellowed, "Prepare the car now! Quick! Get Tang Baichuan inside!"

Even though it was unclear what Pei Junlin intended to do, his words were taken as a command. Instantly, members of the Tang family sprang into action to get the cars ready.

In under a minute, a convoy of seven or eight luxury cars sped out of the Tang Family Villa like a whirlwind.
