C5 I Don't Care!
Qin Feng was not only aware of the Dragon Bone, but his understanding of its specific functions surpassed even that of Prof. Sun.
Having been a key figure in the Dragon Shield Bureau in his past life, he was privy to information that placed him above any other department in post-apocalyptic H Country. Naturally, Qin Feng was well-versed in matters concerning the Dragon Bone.
These bones were unearthed by the military from an underwater cavern a decade ago. Initially, their significance was a mystery. It was speculated that they might be fossils of True Dragon skeletons from ancient times.
Should it be possible to extract sufficient DNA from the Dragon Bone, it could potentially confirm the belief that the people of H Country are descendants of dragons.
Despite years of research, scientists failed to retrieve any valuable data from the bones. Eventually, the authorities had no choice but to archive the Dragon Bone as a mere fossil.
Only with the cataclysm did the true value of the Dragon Bone emerge: its ability to attract Source Qi.
Following the apocalypse, the eruption of an Abnormal Spot beneath the earth infused the Blue Star with an energy never seen before, known as "Source Qi."
The advent of Source Qi heralded a monumental shift for the world. Any mortal transformed by Source Qi would undergo a radical metamorphosis, gaining evolutionary power and becoming a superpowered individual.
The Dragon Bones possessed a potent ability to concentrate energy, accelerating the aggregation of Source Qi from the air and significantly enhancing the evolutionary process for those who wielded them.
To regain his former combat prowess, Qin Feng needed to acquire a Dragon Bone and craft it into a weapon tailored to his needs—a weapon capable of both defeating foes and maximizing his evolutionary potential.
This was knowledge that Prof. Sun had not yet attained.
With a subtle smile, Qin Feng said, "Don't concern yourself with how I came by this information. Simply put, I'm prepared to trade all my design blueprints for that Dragon Bone. It's a transaction that promises immense benefits for us both."
To Prof. Sun, the Dragon Bone was nothing more than a worthless fossil. But in the hands of Qin Feng, it could unlock its full potential.
"No, absolutely not!"
Prof. Sun's demeanor shifted abruptly as he swiftly pulled out his phone, demanding, "Explain yourself! Where did you get this classified information? If you can't provide a satisfactory answer, I'll have you arrested on the spot!"
Qin Feng just smiled, shaking his head. "Before you make that call to the military, I'd like you to take a look at something. Then you can decide whether to have me arrested."
With that, Qin Feng leisurely retrieved his phone and displayed the footage he had captured the previous night at J City's No. 1 High School to Prof. Sun.
"Lei!"
Prof. Sun's face contorted with even greater panic.
The video showed his only grandson, the victim of a kidnapping.
"What have you done to my grandson?" Prof. Sun blanched as he watched the video, his strength draining away as he slumped back into his chair.
Qin Feng remained composed. "Two things to clarify. First, I didn't kidnap your grandson. I merely 'happened' to be there and recorded the incident."
"Second, the kidnappers are not small-time. Even if you call the cops now, they might not find any leads. Your only option is to work with me. Let me help you rescue Sun Lei."
Prof. Sun was at a loss for words.
But he wasn't foolish. After the initial shock subsided, he steadied his breathing and forced himself to regain composure, his voice raspy, "Why should I trust you? For all I know, you could be behind my grandson's abduction!"
"Whether you trust me is your choice," Qin Feng said with a nonchalant shrug and a mischievous grin. "Go ahead, call the police, have them take me away. But I assure you, if I'm arrested, you might never see your grandson again. Are you willing to take that risk?"
Prof. Sun was too enraged to speak, clutching his chest as he struggled to breathe.
Qin Feng stepped closer, "You secure the Dragon Bone for me, and I'll rescue Sun Lei. Plus, I'll hand over every blueprint in my head. It's a fair trade, wouldn't you agree?"
Prof. Sun remained silent.
He was truly undecided, unsure whether to trust Qin Feng's words or not.
With a smile, Qin Feng said, "Time is running short. You'd better decide soon. I can only wait three days. If I don't have what I want by then, you'll miss your chance to make the exchange."
Finishing his statement, Qin Feng turned away, giving the impression he might leave at any moment.
"Hold on. How can I be sure I can trust you?"
Prof. Sun rose abruptly, his voice raised in challenge, "What if you break your promise after you get the Dragon Bone?"
Qin Feng gave a nonchalant shrug. "I have no interest in toying with an old man. Besides, with your strong ties to the military, it wouldn't be wise for me to stir up trouble."
"Fine." Prof. Sun's face was a mask of ice as he spoke through clenched teeth, "Come back in two days. I'll help you secure the Dragon Bone, but let me warn you—if you break your word, you'll pay dearly for it!"
"Relax, by the end, both you and your grandson will be thanking me," Qin Feng assured him.
With those words hanging in the air, Qin Feng left his phone number and walked away with purposeful strides.
He wasn't concerned about Prof. Sun calling the authorities; he understood the professor's character and how deeply he cared for his grandson.
Qin Feng then returned to his life at Clouds Peak Villa, spending two tranquil days there.
Aside from essential rest and strategizing, Qin Feng dedicated himself to rigorous physical training each day.
Since his rebirth, he had to start from scratch. Given his current physical state, he was ill-prepared for the upcoming challenges.
Nevertheless, Qin Feng had to take risks.
Two days later, Prof. Sun's call came.
Their deal would proceed at the same nursing home.
Qin Feng hung up, quickly changed, and got ready to depart.
But before he could step out the door, Wang Gang's voice stopped him, "Qin Feng, where to this time?"
"I've got a transaction to finalize. Is there a problem?" Qin Feng turned to see Wang Gang standing there, a look of concern etched on his face.
"It's okay, just make sure you come back early and stay safe."
Wang Gang awkwardly positioned his phone behind his back as he spoke with an unnatural edge to his voice.
"Sure thing!" Qin Feng nodded, then a mischievous grin spread across his face. "You've been on edge these last few days. You're not planning to make a call to turn me in, are you?"
"No, why would I ever do that?" Wang Gang blurted out, startled, as he nervously wiped sweat from his brow.
With a knowing smile, Qin Feng turned on his heel and strode away briskly.
From the moment he had moved into the villa, Wang Gang had been clutching his phone, a clear sign of his anxiety. It was evident he was wrestling with the decision of whether to betray Qin Feng.
But Qin Feng was unfazed.
He wasn't just unconcerned; he was actually quite eager to see what would happen.
