C6 I will Get the Dragon Bone!
At 10:30 in the morning, Qin Feng arrived at the nursing home as scheduled.
Prof. Sun was seated inside, awaiting Qin Feng's arrival. At his feet lay a peculiarly shaped safe containing the very item Qin Feng sought.
As soon as Qin Feng stepped into the room, he cut to the chase, "Where's the Dragon Bone?"
Without a word, Prof. Sun's eyes directed Qin Feng to the safe that held the Dragon Bone.
Qin Feng immediately stooped to lift the safe.
"Hold on!" Prof. Sun's voice rang out sharply, halting Qin Feng. "Are you a man of your word?"
"Absolutely." Qin Feng replied, his gaze briefly meeting Prof. Sun's stern expression. With a smile, he reached into his pocket, produced a sheaf of papers, and extended them towards Prof. Sun. "Here are the black tech blueprints I've drawn up. As per our agreement, I'm handing them over to you now."
Prof. Sun accepted the documents, though his expression betrayed no happiness. "Is my grandson safe?" he inquired.
"He's unharmed. There's no need for concern," Qin Feng assured him with decisive clarity. "I have no reason to deceive you; after all, we have more collaborations ahead. Lying to you would serve me no benefit."
"You scoundrel! What more do you expect me to do for you?" Prof. Sun's anger was palpable as he spoke with a tense face, "I've already betrayed my organization's trust by stealing the Dragon Bone for you. Once I retrieve my grandson, I intend to turn myself in to my superiors."
"You haven't betrayed anyone. To the military as it stands, that relic is nothing more than a worthless fossil. I'm the only one who can unlock its true potential," Qin Feng stated calmly. "Moreover, these blueprints are worth far more than the Dragon Bone. If you submit them, you won't face punishment; you might even be commended."
"How can you be so certain?" Prof. Sun challenged, his voice bordering on a roar, "Why are you so desperate to get your hands on the Dragon Bone?"
This mystery had long troubled Prof. Sun.
Since the excavation of the Dragon Bone, Prof. Sun's research team had been diligently analyzing its composition. Yet, to this day, Prof. Sun had not deciphered the substance of the Dragon Bone, nor understood its intended use.
"I have my reasons, but I can't share them with you just yet," Qin Feng said, maintaining his usual air of mystery. "Next time we meet, I'll bring Sun Lei back to you. He'll clear up some of your questions then."
Prof. Sun's jaw dropped, his face a picture of incredulity. He whispered to himself, "What could my grandson possibly know?"
"You'll find out soon enough!" With those words, heavy with implication, Qin Feng dismissed Prof. Sun's astonishment and swiftly unlocked the password box.
Before him lay a segment of Dragon Bone.
To the untrained eye, the Dragon Bone was indistinguishable from a regular fossil. It was gray, roughly 1.2 meters in length, with a coarse, uneven surface and irregular thickness.
The Dragon Bone was pocked with shallow pits, giving it the appearance of an exceptionally unsightly stick at first glance.
Despite its light weight, its hardness exceeded that of standard steel. It was so durable that not even a diamond could scratch it.
To Qin Feng, this unassuming relic was an invaluable treasure.
Yet, Qin Feng betrayed no sign of excitement. Once he verified it was indeed the Dragon Bone he sought, he nonchalantly packed it back into the box and turned to leave.
"Hold on!" Prof. Sun rose to his feet, calling out, "When exactly is our next meeting?"
"Soon enough," Qin Feng replied, not looking back, and walked away.
Prof. Sun stood rooted to the spot, gazing after Qin Feng. Unbeknownst to him, a cold sweat had broken out on his forehead.
Despite his vast experience with people, he couldn't penetrate the enigma of Qin Feng's thoughts.
He even began to wonder if he was dealing with a person at all, or rather a sly and formidable beast!
Meanwhile, Qin Feng had moved on, oblivious to Prof. Sun's musings.
And even if he were aware, it wouldn't concern him in the slightest.
Clutching the Dragon Bone, Qin Feng's steps were light. His mind was already racing with plans for the next step.
The silence preceding the apocalypse was deceptive, not without its omens.
Certain Abnormal Spots on the verge of eruption stood as harbingers of the impending doom.
Qin Feng remembered well that in his past life, J City had been marked by eighteen such Abnormal Spots.
The eruption times and locations of each Abnormal Spot were unpredictable.
Furthermore, the military was already aware of the earliest and most structurally stable Abnormal Spots and had taken control of them.
Yet, despite their control, the military remained clueless about the purpose of these Abnormal Spots and what the phenomenon signified.
For now, at least, no monsters were emerging from the larger Abnormal Spots.
Qin Feng's next objective was to investigate several other peculiar spaces on the brink of eruption, still unknown to the military.
An hour later, Qin Feng made his way back to the Clouds Peak Villa.
But as he was about to enter the room, a chilly, resonant voice halted him in his tracks.
Startled, Qin Feng turned to see a red Maserati parked before him.
The car door swung open, and a tall, exquisite woman emerged. She stood with her arms folded, surveying Qin Feng with an icy, haughty gaze.
Qin Feng couldn't help but smile; he recognized the woman.
She was the true owner of the villa and the CEO of Longhua Food Company—her name was Zhong Yanan.
A stunning beauty, she boasted remarkable features, a statuesque figure, and an impressive demeanor. Her long legs were accentuated by the elegant gown she wore, exuding a noble and aloof charm that could captivate most men.
Yet at this moment, Zhong Yanan's expression was dark and stormy, resembling a stern prosecutor, her eyes filled with a probing intensity.
She had come to confront Qin Feng for answers.
Two hours earlier, she had received an unexpected tip-off.
An ordinary employee named Qin Feng had covertly taken an entire truckload of goods from the company's stockpile.
Zhong Yanan could have overlooked a minor financial loss, but her ire was truly kindled by the fact that Qin Feng had not only pilfered the merchandise but had also transported it all into her private villa, where he had been living undisturbed for days.
Now, Qin Feng stood before her, suitcase in hand, exuding an air of nonchalance that only fueled her rage.
"Explain yourself. Why did you steal from the company and use my villa without authorization?"
