C19 The Heavens will Bless You

While I was reading Old Master Han's fortune earlier, I meticulously reviewed all the charitable acts he had previously performed. It was through these acts of kindness that I deduced the Han family must surely have divine favor."

Chiang Hao straightened up, his smile carrying a hint of confidence, and went on, "Old Master Han is a man of great compassion. Over the decades, he has contributed 13.18 billion yuan to impoverished disaster-stricken areas. At eighteen, he bravely outwitted criminals to save children from traffickers. At twenty-eight, he intervened to prevent a thief from stealing a manhole cover on the street. He never shied away from doing good, no matter how small the deed, nor did he ever engage in wrongdoing. There was an instance when a scavenger sought your help and was turned away, only to later be found frozen to death outdoors—a tragedy that has weighed heavily on your conscience... Tell me, how could the heavens possibly allow the destruction of the Han family's enterprise when it has someone as virtuous as you at its helm?"

For over ten minutes, Chiang Hao recounted all the good deeds Han Yuequn had accomplished through the years, big and small.

Initially, Han Yuequn didn't take much notice, but as he listened, a sense of awe grew within him. Chiang Hao mentioned many things that Han Yuequn had only shared with close confidants, and some he had kept deep within his heart, never spoken aloud. The fact that Chiang Hao could articulate each of these deeds in one breath convinced Han Yuequn of his genuine abilities.

[Ding! You have gained Han Yuequn's trust, +30 Exclamation Points.]

"Master Chiang is truly enigmatic and astute. My earlier skepticism was misplaced, and for that, I offer my sincere apologies," Han Yuequn said, bowing deeply in contrition.

"I knew it; Chiang Hao's words are infallible," Han Xun'er exclaimed with delight.

Seeing her grandfather bow and apologize in such a manner was a first for her, and it signaled to her that he had now fully placed his trust in Chiang Hao.

"You mentioned earlier that there was someone who could recover such a substantial amount of funds. Let me be clear—it's me!" Chiang Hao declared with emphasis.

"Do you actually have that much liquid capital?" Han Yuequn inquired, his curiosity piqued.

He had people investigate Chiang Hao's background just yesterday and discovered that he was merely an ordinary student. However, Chiang Hao's demeanor suggested he was far from simple. Therefore, Han Yuequn surmised that Chiang Hao's information must be highly confidential.

"No need to worry, I assure you that I will definitely help you escape this predicament," Chiang Hao confidently promised.

"Very well, I trust that Master Chiang will stand by his word to assist our Han family. I am grateful and thank you in advance."

Han Yuequn bowed with cupped hands, his face breaking into a smile.

At that moment, his faith in Chiang Hao's abilities was unshakeable.

How could such a shrewd individual deceive him? Especially when there was no advantage in doing so.

"You're aware of Bai Shaohua's reputation, aren't you? He's the quintessential playboy, having toyed with countless women. Marrying Xun'er off to him could bring untold misery."

Chiang Hao, concerned that Han Yuequn might still intend to marry off his granddaughter, offered another reminder.

Upon hearing this, Han Yuequn's aged brow furrowed once more.

Han Xun'er's life had been marked by hardship. She lost her mother to childbirth complications on the day she was born, and her father passed away from lung disease when she was just six.

Now, for the sake of the family's interests, she was being pushed to marry a man she disliked, which filled Han Yuequn with remorse.

Previously, the Bai family had proposed to aid the Han family by acquiring a 40% stake in Han's Group at a bargain price.

It's important to note that Han Yuequn only held a 70% stake in Han's Group. Should the Bai family secure 40%, control of the company would effectively pass into their hands.

Given a choice, he would not wish to relinquish Han's Group's control to the Bai family.

"However, the Han and Bai families have already agreed to hold an engagement ceremony. Abruptly calling it off now, I fear the Bai family might seek retribution," Han Yuequn expressed his concern.

In his high position, he faced his own set of challenges.

After all, the Han family depended on him, and the livelihoods of the tens of thousands of Han's Group employees hinged on the company's payroll.

A single misstep on his part could mean job loss and financial insecurity for many.

"This is indeed a troubling issue... Here's what we'll do: at the engagement ceremony, I will take Xun'er away. You just need to tacitly endorse my intervention."

Chiang Hao smiled as he sought the optimal solution for Old Master Han.

"Given the circumstances, if you can best Bai Shaohua and earn the trust of most onlookers at the engagement ceremony the day after tomorrow, I'll intervene to halt the proceedings."

After much deliberation, Han Yuequn reached a tough decision.

"Alright, I'll be sure to impress you then," Chiang Hao said, finally breathing a sigh of relief.

Having received Han Yuequn's word, Chiang Hao spent some time sipping tea and making small talk with him before getting up to leave.

"Chiang Hao, I've got more to attend to, so I won't be able to walk you out. Xun'er will escort you back."

Just yesterday, Han Yuequn had addressed him as Little Master, but now he was simply Chiang Hao.

This shift was a subtle sign of acceptance, showing he had taken to heart Han Xun'er's choice of boyfriend.

"Sure, Grandfather, you go ahead with your work. We'll head out now."

Sensing her grandfather's approval of Chiang Hao, Han Xun'er felt a surge of happiness.

"Let's go."

Chiang Hao gently took Han Xun'er's hand.

Having been preoccupied with making a living and never having dated before, holding Han Xun'er's soft hand was a new and delightful experience for him.

They walked hand in hand towards the garage.

Suddenly, Han Xun'er noticed they were alone and tried to withdraw her hand.

"Master, there's no one around; maybe we shouldn't hold hands," she said, her cheeks blushing with a hint of shyness.

"Who says we're alone? Haven't you noticed the surveillance camera?" Chiang Hao replied, maintaining his grip on her hand while nodding towards the camera tucked in the corner.

"Okay... fine," Han Xun'er agreed, nodding.

Now that her grandfather had fully endorsed Chiang Hao as her boyfriend, she didn't want to risk undoing their progress.

"Besides, after the way you wildly flicked your tongue at mine yesterday, holding hands today is nothing," Chiang Hao teased, as Han Xun'er allowed him to keep holding her hand.

‘Flicked my tongue at yours?’

Han Xun'er paused for a brief moment, but she quickly grasped his implication.

"Yesterday, that was me... I did it to convince everyone that you're my boyfriend," she explained.

In that instant, Han Xun'er recalled the two kisses she had initiated with Chiang Hao the day before, her cheeks turning a deep shade of crimson.

"The first kiss, I get it—it was to make the crowd buy into the idea that you're my boyfriend. But the second time? They were already on board with the whole boyfriend story. So why go for another round with your tongue practically waging war on mine?" Chiang Hao teased her relentlessly, his smile unwavering.

Being around Han Xun'er, he found himself in high spirits, light-hearted and thoroughly enjoying their banter. He couldn't resist the urge to playfully provoke her.
